J'ai adoré le service et l'attention apporter pour la fête de mon conjoint. Malheureusement, la seule chose que j'ai aimé dans mon assiette étais le filet mignon. Les légumes n'avais aucun goût et la patate au four était très sec. Je trouve également que même si la restaurant était vide on était coller avec d'autre client quand nous aurions voulu et pu être assis beaucoup plus en privé.
Nous étions probablement à la pire table du restaurant. Il y avait une petite table de service à côté de nous et nous étions déranger à tout les 10minutes. De plus le serveur à eau ne s'exusait même pas quand il passait la carafe à eau devant notre face au lieu de se mettre à côté de chacun. La seule façon que je retournerai à ce restaurant est d'avoir une meilleure table et certainement un gros rabais. Notre serveur ne sait pas présenté et il est flagrant qu'il y a des services préféreciel.
It has been a number of years since we'd been to Stirling and felt it's slipped. The service was great but the food was not nearly as good as we'd remembered. My steak was underdone and my guest's was a little grisly. My Caesar was boring with no interesting garnish and absolutely no punch. There was sediment in our wine. All in all, it was a disappointing dinner. If not for preparing the steaks over maple wood, there would be no incentive to go back at all.
This was a great experience. My wife and I had wonderful evening on our wedding anniversary.
However, we found that the portions on the table d’hote were enough for two people.and much to much.
Next time i would just order an entree on the a la carte menu and share a starter and dessert

First off, we love Sterling. My husband loves their steak tartar and we wanted to go somewhere special for our third wedding anniversary tonight. We booked a month and a half in advance and had been excited and looking forward to a classy dinner.
We were seated at a table in the middle of a big Christmas party. There were tables full of gifts, everyone was standing, milling around, and being incredibly loud. (As they should, they were having a party.) It was unbearably loud and uncomfortable, so we requested to be moved, but there were no other tables for two. We were simply told that “It’s Christmas”. Having to literally shout across the table to each other and having people bumping into our chairs was not the atmosphere we signed up for, so we left.
Sterling made no attempt to rectify the situation and they ruined what had been until that point a wonderful anniversary. We tried two other restaurants, but given the time on a Friday night, both were full. So we ended up at home ordering Chinese, having egg rolls and resentment for our anniversary dinner.
Had not been to Sterling for many years. I recently happened upon it when I was in the neighborhood and decided to make a reservation for a dinner with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening; service and food were excellent and the ambience and location give the place a somewhat unique quality. Not cheap but good value in my opinion.
First time at Sterling and I can understand why it is well liked. The appetizers (clam soup and mushroom) were delicious. The steak (12oz NY strip) was perfectly cooked and Smokey flavoured. Not as tender and juicy as Sous-vide but great nonetheless. Potatoes and sides well seasoned and flavour full. The lobster tail was hands down the winner of the evening. Cooked on the BBQ, I assume, until just set and basted with season butter... amazing. 10x better than boiled lobster. Poached pear with chantilly cream for dessert was also very delicious.
Nous avons été désappointé par la qualité de la viande et de la nourriture en général. Dommage car c'était une de nos places favorites mais nos 2 derniers souper à cet endroit nous ont déçus. Pour le prix, on s'attend à beaucoup mieux. Le service était très bien et l'endroit est très agréable.
Although it was unfortunate that a group of tourists arrived and treated their entire meal like a photo shoot and were not respectable of the other customers trying to have a nice quiet and (in our case) romantic dinner, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Our server could've been a little faster in the beginning but he got much better once we'd ordered our first item. Also very helpful with the choices of meat and even gave us some desert liquor on the house (it was my husbands birthday). Would definitely recommend this as it was recommended to me.
Very loud. My date was the same distance from me than the stranger sitting with his date beside me, so he would hear everything I was saying. It really felt like we were sitting in a row of dates, like sardines, and did not feel intimate at all. For best value for your buck, the Keg beats Sterling hands down. The only thing better at Sterling was the meat and even then the price difference is not justified.
I was there a few weeks ago and it was great. Our steaks were done perfectly and everything was good except the over cooked $9 asperagus. The frites are great!!!! The double baked potato not so much.
I decided suggest to my family that we go there for my dad's 84th. bday on October 14th... I am not sure who was cooking the steaks but he screwed it up big time. I walked in and it was a youngster by the grill. For some reason I had a bad feeling but you can't judge based on age. I ordered my steak medium well and the steak came back very well done. I told my waiter and agreed and quickly fired up another filet. It came back rare. I got a little angry and told him to just take it away and don't bring me another one. I was very disappointed compared to the first time we were there. The other steaks at our table were a touch off as well on the more rarer side. The service was not as great as my previous experience. Maybe this is due to the fact that it was Saturday and the first time I was there was on a Friday. Either way, it shouldn't make a difference. Our food took over an hour to come to our table. Steaks take no longer than 12 minutes total so I am not sure what the hold up was.
On the bright side, our waiter was MIA for about 30 minutes but did buy us an extra bottle of wine to compensate for the steak screw up. That was nice.
I am not sure if I would go back only because of the cook. Pretty sad because the first experience was great. I hope the cook got a talking to because he wasted about $40 worth of filet and left a bad impression on the restaurant.
My husband and I loved the food. We had the Table d'hote with our main entree being the 12% New York Sterling steak. Best steak I have ever had. In retrospect, I would order the 8% Filet Mignon instead as I found the 12% too filling. The service is impeccable without being pretentious. It is quite expensive for us so this restaurant would be for special occasion only and not more than once a year on our budget.
Table d'hôte was good. We had the surf n turf plus the salmon. Soup and appetizers were good. Beef minestrone soup. Appetizers were mushroom and beef tartar.
Main meal was salmon, great flavours. Surf n turf was 12oz NY strip. No flavour at all. Lobster tail was excellent. All sides were great. Only the steak was flavourless. It's really too bad as this is supposed to be a great steak house.
