Stella Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had a very enjoyable time on New Years Eve. The menu was special for the evening and very good choices. The staff wasn’t overly friendly but good service. The manager was great when I ordered an appetizer but it came out like an entree. Simple mistake but he took it back and made it right. The food is so good!! Very romantic.
We really loved our experience at Stella. The service was great-- the perfect level of attention without being overbearing. They were passing out complimentary samples of a cocktail the bartender was testing. The food came out very fast. It was delicious and authentic. The restaurant was busy, but not too loud. I would recommend it for dates, special occasions, or just a night out on the town.
Four of us sat a the bar had great service, food, cocktails and wine. Espresso Martinis, Spicy Margaritas to start. 2 Bottles of Dolcetto to go with the deliccious Short Rib Pasta and our other other entrees. Beef Carpacio, Beef Tartar and Parmesan/Fresh Mozz Aricini for apps were all great. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.
Stella was so much less than stellar. I picked it for my birthday! I added notes, spoke to two people & called about my reservation! I arrived early. After calling the to hostess to check she pushed valet parking while for no reason she very abruptly "good luck finding anything around here" After arriving I saw an absolutely empty street. Visible from her stand.
Not only did the waiter mixed up my drink order, was reminded of my birthday, he forgot after three subtle hints. Didn't deserve to tip he was left. Management actually managed to hang too closely while the overwhelming hands on deck was too much as well. I could have done without the dirty looks from all of them and hope my bar experiences are better my 2nd chance but I won't order the beef carpaccio. It shouldn't crust one fresh; I will add the photo of how irremovably stuck it was.
First timer to Boston and was recommended by a friend to experience Stella + their brunch, in one of the trendiest neighborhoods. From the food to the service and the overall vibe made it an exceptional experience. It’s a great place for a date or hangout place with a group of friends.
Love Stella for brunch, this was my first time going for dinner. Our server, Emily, was wonderful. She was helpful, fun and attentive and gave great recommendations. Our wine and cocktail were good and Emily was knowledgeable on the drink/wine list. We had the arronccini that were delicious but very small portions. The bolognese and spaghetti and meatballs were great. Very lively and loud but to be expected on a Friday night. Overall a good experience but did not find Stella to be a good value for what you were getting, high even for the South End area.
We had a great meal at Stella after a little hiatus. The menu is fantastic and the pastas were delicious. Our waiter was attentive and informative and overall it was a terrific meal. Minor issues - the space was chilly so we asked for the heat to get turned up as we sat in our winter coats for a while. Otherwise, great night and meal. Will go back again soon, too!
The food is always great at Stella and this wasn’t an exception. My only complaint is around the seating. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday (noted it in the reservation) because it’s an easy fave close to home. They sat us next to a group holiday party in the middle of the dining room, also right near a busy walkway.
I’ve been here many times before so I’m used to the close quarters. Just would have expected a little bit of a better seat on a special night. We had people walking by, bumping the table and the bussing staff were hanging over our space while clearing other parties tables. Just wouldn’t have taken much to read the reservation and place us in a better location on the floor.
My sister and I took our 82 year old mother on a Friday night. The staff was extremely accommodating to our mother's limited mobility, coming outside on a very cold night to help us assist her into the restaurant and see us to our table. The service was attentive and the food excellent. The manager stopped at our table several times to make sure we were happy with our dining experience and if we needed more than was being offered.
The restaurant was very busy yet we felt like we were the only customers in Stella.
Stella offers superb food and drink, a warm, sophisticated atmosphere with a staff that is ready to please. You can't go wrong choosing Stella as a dining destination.
Our first time at Stella won't be our last. They had our table ready right on time, on a very busy Friday. The service was incredibly attentive, and our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine list. Everything we ate was delicious. We were delighted to have such an outstanding meal.
Overall, we had a lovely experience at Stella. My daughter loved her short rib dish, my gnocci was delicious. My husband, however, said that his swordfish didn't taste super fresh, but still managed to eat the whole dish! Hand crafted cocktails were delicious. Our server is a grad student and was efficient and pleasant. We will return! We have heard amazing reviews about their brunch.
Stella is one of my favorite restaurants and I'm a frequent diner with friends, family, and my husband (I even got engaged at the restaurant awhile back) However, the service on Saturday night was AWFUL. We had reservations at 8:15 and didn't get seated until close to 8:50 (no apology provided). Our server didn't share the specials until I prompted her, she barely checked on us, the service took FOREVER. You actually lost service because we didn't order more drinks because it took her our whole dinner to get us another glass of wine (it came after we finished even though we ordered before). We also didn't order dessert because of the lack of attention and care. I hope this was just an off night for you (because I've always been a huge fan) but I was pretty disappointed with the service.
I have always loved Stella but hadn’t been in awhile. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is vibrant. It’s great for special occasions and for grabbing a bite in the neighborhood. I am mostly vegetarian but will eat seafood and there were options on both counts. Stella is terrific!
I hadn't been to Stella in a while and I thought it was as good as ever. Warm, friendly--but not overly so--service. Lively atmosphere. Delicious food. My guest had the artichoke pizza. It was wonderful, a very generous portion and every bite was delicious. I had the short ribs with pappardelle and they were outstanding--perfectly cooked to fork tender; delicious sauce; al dente pasta. The wine list is reasonably priced with a good selection of wines by the glass. This is a great neighborhood place.
