We were a table for 4 and 2 liked the food and 2 were disappointed. We've dined here before and usually they had a few specials to add to the menu but not this time. So I would return, but not for a while. It could have been an off night in the kitchen.
I have never had a mediocre meal...always fresh and always amazing. The staff and service equally impressive. A must-go!
We had an absolutely wonderful meal here, and will definitely be back. There was a long wait because the chef decided the last piece of swordfish wasn't big enough to serve, but otherwise service was good.
We have dinner at Stella Sera twice and both experiences were stellar. Stellar Stella Sera. So there is a lot of consistency in attentive, warm service and absolutely delicious food. The calamari melts in your mouth. And the gnocchi are a must! They are like puffy potato cumulous clouds. And the no cork fee is great too. We went once with friends and another time with our parents and can't wait to go back.
Great BYOB with a small but excellent menu. It is an intimate space but does not feel crowded or noisy.
We had a lovely meal at Stella Sera and the food was delicious! The service was a bit weird though - our server rushed us to order and didn't put in our appetizers until our whole order was in. He didn't tell us this until we asked for more time deciding on entrees. He seemed to rush us due to future reservations but when we left there were empty tables.
My caprese salad was one of the best I'd ever had. The dessert was fabulous. My husband loved the gnocchi but I didn't care for my veal entree. It seemed soggy and you could see the flour that it was coated with. That was dissappointing.
Consistently has very good food. The fish special has always been very good
Really excited to have homemade pasta- service was fine but food took forever!
Absolutely delicious. Food is prepared beautifully and is delicious. Everything, I mean everything, is fresh and outstanding.
Our food was very good from start to finish....but the service was really lacking.
Amazing appetizers, recommend trying chef specials. Waiter was great- told us soup wasn't their best dish and brought us a glass of white wine because we had a fish appetizer. Really good food and service.
I've enjoyed every meal I've had here. One small point, though: my wife is convinced that the website's claim to serve "homemade pasta" is inaccurate. She's a dyed-in-the-wool foodie and says the pasta we were served, while certainly good, was not homemade.
One final note: My melanzan appetizer was superb as was my wife's artichoke. We'll be back soon.
I met a friend for dinner and we shared a couple of entrees and everything was delicious. The menu is limited but the food was really good. A cute little place!
The restaurant has an old menu on line. The new menu is completely different and smaller. The day we went they had an even smaller more limited menu due to it being Saturday of Mother's Day weekend. I made the reservation on opentable but when they called to confirm the reservation no one informed me of the limited menu. We wouldn't have gone because we were going based on the menu on line.
Our server was completely uneducated about the menu. He was very disturbed that we weren't getting appetizers. He repeatedly asked if we were sure we weren't having apps which was annoying since we would have if there were better choices.
The restaurant was very understaffed. I did ask Who seemed to be in charge about the menu and she said they don't use the menu online anymore. We will go back again to give it one more shot but how are we to know what the menu is?
This is by no means an inexpensive dinner and what we did have was good but disappointed by the lack of communication of the menu and in the service.
Food was delicious. The only problem was that there was a huge party next to us and there were not enough servers to handle the party, so we had a very long wait before being served
The service was excellent again, and the food deserves every bit of 5 stars. We have been to Stella Sera a number of times, and it never disappoints. We truly recommend you try it for yourself and see why we keep coming back.
We would definitely return. We all ordered different salads including the artichokes, spinach, arugula and goat cheese, crab and smoked salmon and we're pleased. Our pasta entrees were all delicious and worth waiting for. We tried the eggless pasta with clams, tagliatelle, bolognese and gnocchi. Try it, you'll like it!
Food was very good - mussel appetizer was great - fresh and a beautiful white sauce. Dinner for me was the duck breast, also excellent with a turnip mousse. My companion is a vegan and the chef whipped up something special for her. And desert was a shared orange rum cake. For a neighborhood BYOB, overall terrific.
The chef is amazing, dinner for 4 and we all loved every bite.
Always a great experience. Stella Sera has a wonderful location and the menu is fantastic. All food is prepared beautifully and the personalized touch is nice. We had a great time and enjoyed our meals.
When my wife and I get a few hours away from the kids, Stella Sera is one of the very first places I call to get a reservation. Small, quiet and delicious. Small menu and great specials. Great service too. My favorite part, it's a BYO! Love it.
food and service was very good.... don't sit next to the door going downstairs.... that is the kitchen!!!!
Loved it! Food was great. The atmosphere was quiet but comfortable. The service people were more than pleasant and never invasive.
We really enjoyed Stella Sera. The arancini and tagliatelle with bolognese were amazing.
We enjoyed a kid-free Valentine's Day dinner at Stella Sera. We had the arancini (fried rice ball), pear salad, Bolognese and Castagna pastas and the crème brulee for dessert. Overall, the food was very good, the ambiance was cozy and we had a lovely date night. We'd recommend this restaurant and do plan to go back.
Outstanding service, appetizers, entrees, dessert. Fantastic evening at Stella Sera.
We tried to get a 7pm reservation and could only get 6:30pm or 8 pm. So, we took the earlier one. When we arrived there was only on table with patrons and during the time we were there, I don't think that all of the tables were ever filled, which seemed a bit strange. However, the food was good, as always. The service was a bit spotty. I had to ask for an ice bucket for the white wine (its a BYOB) and it took quite a while to get our food, but otherwise, it was fine.
Such good food! Wish the service was better, but she was BUSY with a full house on a Wednesday night! That says a lot about the quality of the food and value.
This is at least out forth time (lost count) and we have enjoyed every time the food is done to perfection and the service, lead by the owner is so attentive, last time we went we took friends and the owner was off, have to say we missed her, the service was not quite to her standard, but we will be back, great food, great service, great value... need I say more.
Great food and great service!
My wife and I split the mussels appetizer and we each ordered the Siciliano chicken dish (our favorite entree at this restaurant). The food was excellent and so was the service. We also like the fact that it is a BYOB.
Great BYOB Good for meeting friends and or special occasion.
Outstanding food and service.
The whole staff is right on top of things and very nice.
Food is outstanding.
Kudos to the Chef and Staff
We were pleasantly surprised to find this neighborhood gem in the heart of Chestnut Hill. The service was terrific and the food was delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
We loved this restaurant on our first visit, but this time many things made it a below par experience. We arrived on time for a 7 PM reservation on a Saturday night. The waiter was slow to greet us, slow to let us know the specials and slow to take our order. We didn't see our appetizers until we has been seated for and hour and a half. And with no apologies. Everyone thought the food was fine but nothing exceptional. We thought we had found a new gem, but maybe only go there on a week night.
We truly enjoyed our meal here. It is another good find in Chestnut Hill and a BYOB. Food well prepared, reasonable priced and delicious. We will return and bring friends.
We went with another couple and everything was delicious!!! Calamari appetizer, halibut, sera, and veal parm main dishes all were excellent.
I gather the fresh-made pasta is the prime feature of this restaurant. My dishes and my dining partners (two other people) were fine but nothing worth recommending unless you're in it just for the fresh pasta.
