    We were surprised that the Texas red fish dish was only fish - no salad or sides, so over priced. The Lobster mac n cheese was tasty but the lobster was over cooked and chewy and seemed to be claw meat and very little, so again overpriced for mac n cheese. A bus/server lady kept staring at us. We were dining before a show at the Paramount amd my adult granddaughter was dressed up. The continued staring from the backwall made us uncomfortable Overall a disappointing experience.

    The little biscuits are delicious. We asked to sit in a table against the wall but were told they were saved … not reserved and yet no one was seated there. Was odd.

    Nice place good service, hush puppies were excellent as was the steak Fritz’s. Short ribs were under seasoned, it seemed like a sauce or something was missing from the dish. Everything else was great.

    The most underwhelming salmon I’ve ever had in my life. I may never eat salmon again. The menu talks it up big but clearly not. Overpriced at $40. Small portion, dry. I’m thinking a 5 year must have charred this piece of salmon because if this was served by a real chef they should find another career

    Given that this restaurant requires a credit card when reserving through OpenTable, with a 48 hour cancellation period to not get charged $25/person, we had high expectations for the restaurant’s food and service. Unfortunately, we were let down on both fronts. Upon arriving on time for our reservation, my wife and I were seated at the worst table in the house, right up against the servers’ station with lots of activity by the servers within inches of me. We promptly asked our server to reseat us, and he refused. He cited some kind of odd storyline that all their tables are mapped out to reservations already, and they could not move us. As he’s saying this, we could look around and see at least 3 other tables for 2 available, which we pointed out to him. He would not budge. What was further frustrating about this odd position of the restaurant, was that over the next 40 minutes, we observed 3 parties of two get seated at tables for 4. So their rigidity with us, made no sense and was rude. Our server attempted to make up some of our inconvenience with a 20% discount. On the food front, my BLT salad and deviled eggs were good, but not great. My wife’s fried avocado salad was a huge disappointment. For a restaurant that touts it southern cooking style, it made no sense why the fried avocado was basically tasteless.

    My avocado toast was really thick, stale and hard to cut/eat. The chorizo tacos were greasy.

    The bar area was noisy (Friday evening), but the service was very good, and the food was excellent. A bit pricey, but we expected that. Expect to pay for valet service, which was actually quite fast for a busy night. We will return, mainly for the food!

    Food was great and our waiter Holace was charming and attentive! The ambiance was just okay, but it was also the 26th of December so maybe just a quieter night for dining out in general. I’ll give it another try because the food was so good!

    Our family of 5 had Christmas dinner at Stella San Jac. We were greeted by the hostess without a smile or warmth. The restaurant is nicely decorated and feels very gentlemanly. We were seated next to a waiter’s station which is not a private dining experience. Our waiter was nice. We ordered: steak frites, red fish, scallops, chicken Cesar salad and the burger. The food was served quickly and was good. I would not recommend the scallops and the portion on the fish was small. We would go back because our kids liked it.

    We were celebrating a Christmas Day Birthday, the food and cocktails were incredible, and we are so very thankful that y'all were open on the Holiday so that we could celebrate my Girlfriend's Birthday. Our server was very sweet, but seemed to struggle a bit with our section. We could tell there had been an issue (or two) at the table seated next to us, as well as our table. We were only able to order 2 rounds of drinks (and would've loved to order more) but he was not fully present in his section. Ultimately he was a very kind server, and very congenial, but seemed distracted - He was able to solve most of the problems offering comps and quick to re-ring in missing items, but he was not proactive, just reactive. Everything else was incredible and we'll be recommending Stella to all of our friends in the area!

    The place was beautiful and the service was good. It did get a little awkward on the servers part at the end of the experience but I won’t go into detail. Our server tried to make our experience good and he did a good job. We went for Christmas dinner and it was my husbands birthday. They did send free desserts, always a plus. The food was unfortunately not as expected. I read reviews and saw pictures and expected a lot better. Everything tasted very bland, from the lobster Mac, wagyu burgers, pork chops - all were subpar. I understand they had a limited menu, but certainly did not meet expectations. It’s unfortunate and we will not be back.

    I made reservations for Stella for a Christmas weekend for my family. It wasn't until we checked into the Westin Downtown Austin, that I realized that the restaurant was IN the hotel! That was a great surprise and super convenient. We had breakfast there on Christmas morning. The staff could NOT have been nicer! You would have never known that they were giving up their family Christmas time to serve us. They had the BEST attitudes and were so friendly and helpful with the menu. They were attentive and took such good care of us! And the food.....OMG. It was AMAZING. The scrambled eggs were the best we had eaten; I mean, honestly, how do you make scrambled eggs so much better? I don't know but Stella did it! I had the Blueberry Lemon pancakes and they were THE BOMB! We all had to keep trying each other's food because each of us were raving about our dishes. We were so excited that we had made reservations for Christmas Day dinner at Stella. Breakfast blew us away so we couldn't WAIT to try dinner. Dinner did NOT disappoint! Starting with the YUMMY, lovely presented cocktails to the main entrees. Everything was tasty and so good! Our server, Armando, was so sweet and took great care of us. In fact, everyone we encountered, was amazing! I HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner and the Westin was a wonderful stay as well!

    Mr. Kirby was amazing as he helped us decide what to eat as it was our first if hopefully many times visiting. He attended to us frequently topping off drinks as needed. The food was to die for. We had the lobster Mac and he suggested to add bacon. We expected crumbles. No. Amazing cubed bacon. By far the best Mac we have ever had. Biscuits and burger were top notch as well. If you are on the fence you better jump off and head to Stella to see Kirby.

    I got the country fried steak that was more like country fried jerky. The eggs were good but they added salt, just a bit too much salt on my fried "jerky." The host saw that my friend and I are short, neither of us taller than 5'2," we asked the hostess to reseat us after we tried sitting at the first table...the hostess replied that all of their chairs were low. Then, she sat us by the server's station where they put orders in....the restaurant was not crowded, plenty of other booths. That hostess sucked. The hostess that covered for her checked in on us and was kinder. Our server and the guy who brought out our food were very kind. The French toast pecan was amazing with a delightful whip cream, so enjoyable that we forgot to ask for mimosa options. Beware the syrup is hot, which I burnt my thumb touching since there wasn't any warning. Overall, there weren't any fruit or salads that paired the dishes, besides their juices. I might go back for a high carb meal...the country fried steak came with a really good mashed potato waffle. Since I don't like to waste food, whether good or different, I took leftovers home. My spouse and kids enjoyed the waffle and gravy...they too agreed with me on the meat. The gravy helped them eat the meat easier. Maybe someone likes their country fried steak that way? Definitely not my friend (originally from Mississippi), family, and me (originally from Georgia).

    When booking Stella San Jac online, I noted that it was for a special occasion (wedding brunch). On arrival we were greeted with indifference by the guy at the desk who waved us in the vague direction of our table & departed. He didn’t ask if the table was ok, we didn’t get menus or weren’t asked if we needed a high chair for our 6 month old baby. Not a great start. Our server came over & was very friendly - he asked us what we would like to drink but we had to point out that we had no menus for drink or food. He asked if we would like coffee but I said we’d have mimosas as it was wedding brunch for my husband & I - we had just gotten married an hour before. He congratulated us very warmly & went to get drinks. We ordered the short rib roll & the tacos - the food was delicious - really tasty & portion sizes were generous. During the meal we asked where the baby changing facilities were & were told there were none connected to the restaurant - however a lovely hostess brought my husband to a different floor where there were facilities - she was very helpful. A while later our server brought the check - we realised then it was almost 2pm & brunch was finishing. We would have appreciated a little warning in advance as we felt a little rushed out of the restaurant. Overall I would say we had a nice brunch - mainly because of the lovely food. I did feel there could have been an acknowledgment of the special occasion (‘special occasion’ is actually a field on the booking form) - even if it was just a verbal congratulations on arrival. The restaurant was also lacking atmosphere - maybe that was because it was the day after Thanksgiving though. The staff - for the most part - were friendly - and the decor of the restaurant is also nice.

    somehow although they reserved a seating for thanksgiving at 8pm there was no stuffing - embarrassing

    Food was good, service was lackluster at best. Grateful for the experience but would not recommend, or return based on service alone. We were given tiny appetizer plates for a full course thanksgiving meal. We never received dinner plates even after asking. This is in addition to so many errors to numerous to mention.

    Our server was great. He was attentive and gave great recommendations. The maitre d’ was impolite. When he was seating us, he told us to follow him then put the menus down on the table and left. He didn’t tell us who our server would be or wait until we were seated to leave. Towards the end of our meal, he asked when our conference was over and when attendees would be leaving. We asked him why he asked and he said he was trying to determine staffing. It was a question he should’ve self researched. The food was a 3.5/5.

    In fairness we arrived when they were closing for lunch so we didn’t get the best experience. But during a less crazy time I can imagine a better experience. Our poor waitress had to much on her plate. But we were starving and ready to eat. I would go back.

    After having visited a few years back and having folks recommend it this time around, I was excited to return. Sadly, the food was disappointing. The biscuits were over done, the au jus was too salty, the service was slow.

    Melia was fantastic. She welcomed us like old friends and new the menu without checking any notes. She was patient with our large group and never made us wonder where she was. We can't wait to visit again and hope to have her make recommendations!
