We had a great time!
Made an error online for the reservation time. Called and was able to easily accommodate a diferente time. Arrived early and was offered to be seated without my party, which is typically unheard of 😱. The hostess was very nice. Disappointed that you couldn’t accommodate a special request for dessert.
Otherwise, had a wonderful dining experience and will most likely visit again.
Horrible service- we had a reservation and still had to wait 25 minutes for our table. Our waiter also provided very poor service. It took an hour and a half to get our food after we ordered. He was rude and acted annoyed when we asked for water refills. The whole experience was very disappointing.
The biscuits, avocado toast, deviled eggs and meal were delicious! I also loved the Stella Spritzer, it was super refreshing.
It took almost an hour to receive our food - but our server offered us free dessert to make up for it. The food was okay but may not be worth the price tag. The best thing about Stella was probably our server.
We were really excited to eat here because of the reviews, but the food was underwhelming at best. Pricey yet mediocre. The entrance to the restaurant has nice seating but we were seated in the bar area, which again, was underwhelming. Could really be nice if they had more seating and the food at least matched the prices they charge.
Great Food drinks and friendly service!
The service was excellent! The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was a bit disappointing. The crispy brussel appetizer was amazing...but, for the prices and location, I admit I was expecting more from the entrees. The pork chop was a bit dry and lacked a lot in flavor. I get it, pork chops are a hard thing to get right, but for $27, it better be juicy and flavorful. Neither was true here. The chipotle creme was creamy with very little of an actual chipotle flavor, so that was kind of flat. The brussels that come with the chop were far blander than the appetizer, so that was hurt by is actually having the appetizer. The crab roll was relatively small and low on actual crab (at least that's how it seemed). Otherwise, it had a decent flavor...just would have liked a bit more. Bottom line: for the price and location, it was a disappointment. Not terrible and not a horrible experience, but probably not going to go back.
Great food. Very attentive staff. Loved the biscuits! We enjoyed the experience and will be back.
Very romantic atmosphere for a Valentine’s Day rendezvous! Drinks and food were amazing (Especially the biscuits!) and warm, attentive service awaited every table.
We went for Valentine’s Day and enjoyed our meal. They had a special menu that night and not their regular menu. It was very tasty. The desert was fantastic but overpriced. It was $14 for a tiny slice of cheesecake. The entree pricing was on point.
Great trendy place to visit with a great menu! We enjoyed our time here and the happy hour specials were amazing!
Stella San Jac is a good option for a hotel restaurant. The service was a bit spotty and we were there at 5pm. The food is tasty - had the lamb meatballs (first batch was cold), the marrow and the $14 burger. The burger was pretty juicy and flavorful, although the edges were overdone. Will probably return as it was better than most other downtown options.
Waiter was kind of rude and acted like he did not want to be there. Food was really good though.
Where do I even start...
The valet at the hotel left my car unlocked and running around the side of he building. Luckily from inside the restaurant I notice my windshield wipers are still going. I go outside and greet a helpful homeless man who identified it shouldn’t be running and was “standing guard”.
Reservation at 1, hostess told us multiple time she was setting the table, finally arrived at said table around 1:30 to slide into a booth covered in syrup.
Drinks finally arrived at our table around 1:45 or so?
I’m still thirsty. We were without liquid mid-way thru the meal and somehow choked down an undercooked hamburger and the worst chicken fried steak in Texas. I had more dressing on my salad than witnessed on the chicken fried steak, which could easily double as a continental breakfast.
Lots of fumbled waitstaff opportunities including broken glass...
Food was brought cold- my partner ordered the beef grilled cheese. It was burnt and greasy. He only ate half and was sick the rest of the day. I ordered the smoked salmon benny and it was salty -
As always brunch was very good. My only complaint was our service. Again, we had the same server as we had before. Again, I just think he was covering too many tables or covering big groups. There were only 3 of us at my table.
Great food and fun date night!!!
Had a fabulous experience at Stella San Jac! The service was great! The food was great! Everything was perfect! I had the Dover Scallops, Lobster Mac, and my friend had the Pan Seared Chicken. I feel like everything here is amazing. You can’t go wrong. Meanwhile the drinks are really what shone here. I plan on exploring their cocktail list more thoroughly. If you haven’t been to Stella make a reservation! It’s underrated!
Gave us a table initially in bar at small table with barstools even though we booked way in advance for dinner. Service was slow. Took forever to get that second glass of wine. Starters were good but entrees not so much
Great food and great service
We had a group of ten. Everyone was happy with their brunch and loved the little cove they had our table. Close to st Mary’s so we could walk after Mass.
This is my second time to brunch at Stella San Jac. I love love this place. I plan to go back and try out the dinner.
The experience was enjoyable. The bar service was great. A little disappointed in being seating so close to others. At one point our server was gone for an extended period of time and we had to ask another employee for help-aside from that it is a great spot.
We went to Stella San Jac for dinner before catching a show at the Paramount theatre. The food was delicious, the noise level was low and we were able to carry a conversation without having to raise our voices. Wait staff and the service were superior. Will definitely be going there again.
We really enjoyed our evening at Stella San Jac. Great food. Great service.
The service was pretty slow and we could not tell if it was the kitchen or staff. Meal was with colleagues and getting drink refills took too long; food arrived about an hour after we sat down. Just reduced the overall experience.
Post holiday brunch for our employees!
I planned my birthday dinner here for a party of 6. Our waiter had another large party he was waiting on, so I understand that he was very busy, however, he was very short and rude to me and the other guests at my table. When we asked if he could spit our check, he said, "do you see this other table? I'm having to split their check so it will be awhile". Okay, so I wrote out names to items so he would know what to charge the different cards and when I tried to offer the receipt with the info he just waived me off. We spent a lot of time waiting for him to come to our table. I understand being busy, but this place either needs to hire more servers or they need to come up with a way for their staff to help each other. I shouldn't have to catch a bunch of attitude b/c the place is understaffed/waiter can't keep up.
I previously had good experience at Stella's for brunch, which is why I chose it for my birthday; so disappointing.
Awesome food, awesome drinks and great service. The flavor in everything was wonderful.
Food was delicious. Our server seemed to be forgetting about us. He was friendly but think he was covering too many tables. The hostess helped us out which I thought that was great team work for your restaurant.
Even though there were very few tables occupied and despite the fact that we made reservations, we were seated at the closet table to the bar. It was cold and very loud. The food was mediocre - tasteless crispy Brussels Sprouts, soupy Mac and cheese and a so-so burger. This place was really disappointing.
Our waiter, Tep, was very good. Very friendly, professional, and all the items he suggested were yummy. We had the breakfast tacos, brisket grilled cheese and the french toast for dessert. We were full until dinner.
Service and ambience were great but food was disappointing. There were 10 of us for brunch and I don’t think any of us were wowed by our meal. The dishes sounded great on the menu but they all fell a little flat in reality. I had the smoked salmon Benedict and the Hollandaise sauce had virtually no flavor. Blood Mary’s and the biscuits were good.
We have been wanting to visit for a while and actually went in once before. The "signature scent" of hotel was way too strong so we walked out. (I'm actually a fan of the Westin scent normally) Had a friend in town so decided to give it another shot. Didn't want to make a fuss so stayed this time but the scent is too much. Hard to discern nuanced flavor(s) when your sinuses are getting pounded by perfume. Makes the experience far less enjoyable. As a reference, our coats/clothes still carried (heavily) the scent the following day.
A creative menu, well executed and a prime location just off Sixth St. combine to make Stella San Jac an excellent choice.
I was so surprised by this place! The food was amazing and our server Chris was awesome. Definitely will come back!
Great quaint place with great food and service for good value. Definitely recommend it. The short rib grilled cheese was amazing!
We spent a total of 2 hours 30 minutes for a breakfast meal. The restaurant was only half full on a New Years morning. We arrived 9:30 am and ordered two lattes and the rhubarb glazed house-made donut holes. The donuts came first and we had to prompt the server for our coffees. By the time the coffees came the donuts, although very tasty, were cold. The manager explained the barista for the morning shift was a no-show so they were struggling to keep up on orders. We ordered our breakfast meals around 10:15 am. We ordered a second appetizer of the brussel sprouts with candied jalapeno. The appetizer arrived fairly promptly and was also very flavorful, but cold. We ordered coffee and waited over an hour for the entrees. We had to constantly request coffee and water while we waited. When we finally received the entrees, they were delicious, hot, and correctly made. The pecan French toast was special with the whiskey maple syrup. The Stellaquita dish was very interesting and perfect food for my mild hangover. The server suggested slice of avocado and it was an excellent recommendation. The server did apologize for the time it took for the food and did comp our entire meal, which was not what we expected but certainly appreciated. We would try this restaurant again, but caution others about the potential slow service. I saw other reviews with similar comments about the service.
Excellent service on New Years Eve
