Our server was exceptional. Highly attentive and knowledgeable. Knocked it out of the park. 10/10
We are used to very good pizza and salads here, and this experience did not disappoint—but don’t tell us you are serving a “salumi and burrata” pizza when you’re actually serving ricotta! A misleading if not inaccurate description on the menu. Sheesh!
We went for happy hour and had thin sin pizza
It was amazing
Our waiter was fantastic
Food was great, waiter did not pay much attention to us whatsoever, never once came to refill our water or check up on us (it was not busy whatsoever), and only seemed to care about his one other table. Took over 20 minutes just to get his attention to ask for the check.
We have been to Stella Barra’s Brunch many times... this was not the best. Some of the food choices were only warm not hot. Most disappointing were the eggs which are usually perfect and yummy.... they were just not good at all. When I asked why they were different I was told it was a different chief.... bring back the other chief please! They did add an omelette station which is nice... but don’t forget about your scrambled eggs!
Stella Barra is one of my favorite spots to dine in Chicago! Their happy hour specials are great and I love the regular menu too! A wide range of choices for food, wine and drinks. Cocktails are always on point and the staff always has recommendations when you aren't sure what to choose. Perfect spot for any occasion!
There are a ton of kids
Great pizza and service!!
The pizza was just ok. It seemed over cooked. The buzzing atmosphere probably impacts the low quality of food. The kale Caesar was great! And so was our server! Would not go back. Plenty of better pizza joints in Chicago.
Easter brunch was a wonderful event and food was top notch. Buffet tables were constantly monitored and replenished, so all dishes were fresh and not dried out. The selection was just the right size and not overwhelming. Our server was there for us when needed. I would recommend the Stella Barra brunch for a weekend nosh.
The Sunday brunch definitely doesn't worth the price. The service is just ok. The food is just ok. I don't recommend this place.
Everything was good, food and service, noise level is loud. Tough for our group of 7, still enjoyed our birthday celebration!
Wonderful experience overall! Food was excellent. However, two of the items we had wanted were no longer available that evening, which was a disappointment. Otherwise, a great experience with excellent service.
While I typically really enjoy Stella Barra, we waited 45 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated at our table. Each time we kept being assured that the tables had paid and were leaving only to continue to wait. I understand some aspects of this are out of the restaurants control, however, 45 minutes is quite a long time to keep people waiting when the wait for a table for parties walking in was an hour. In the future, it would be a nice gesture for the restaurant to take care of drinks at the bar or appetizers as an apology for the delay. A guest with a reservation should never have to wait this long.
This is a hopping place, full of young people. The pizza was excellent, with a good crust, fresh ingredients, and flavorful sauces. Plenty of options for vegetarians and even vegans. Will definitely come again.
Slow service. Rarely were checked on to order drinks. Pizza took over 30 minutes to come.
Love the happy hour specials!
We had an awesome server!
The food and the atmosphere at Stella Barra were absolutely amazing - craving the pizza, salad, and brussels sprouts again! The only thing I was upset about was that when our food was served, the server dropped a piece of pizza on the floor. Instead of comping a part of the bill or acknowledging it all, he walked away. Our waitress also did not say anything. Needless to say, we were full from the amount of food we had anyway, but not acknowledging the mistake left a slightly sour taste in our mouths. Look forward to returning, but wanted to bring this to your attention. Thanks!
Pizza at its best! Great for families too
It was a great experience taking some friends who were visiting! Loved the large brunch selection.
The best artisanal pizza in the city! Mushroom with truffle oil is my personal fav! Also, cookies are a must.
Moving to Chicago from NYC, it was great to find a place that I like the pizza. It’s become our Friday night pizza and wine.
Pizza was burnt and little flavor
The overall experience was good, but I was very disappointed by the food. The pizzas lacked character. I ordered the shaved mushroom pizza and the toppings felt like an after thought. This pizza is under the white pizzas category, which is why I expected it to be much more creamier and the toppings to bring it to life. While the flavors were there, the crust was extremely crispy and thin, to the point that it felt extremely dry. The cheese on top could barely be felt when biting on it. The service on the other hand was very good and they were on top of everything.
The place has great food. We were there on a Friday night, it was some kids pizza night so it was overrun with small children. We sat close to the kitchen and there was a constant burning smell, it killed my taste buds. The happy hour is nice, I suggest getting there for that and sitting at the bar if kids aren’t your thing.
Came in for Sunday brunch. Have to say this is my favorite brunch. 1 pm reservation. Had a nice meal and ready for some sweet so go back to buffet to get some bread pudding. None left and I'm told they won't be refilling it either. In fact a number of buffet stations empty and soon after they just shut it down even though the restaurant was crowded. My wonderful waitress offered to get me a cookie to replace. Very nice. And then she charged me for it. I don't care about the three bucks. It's that I paid for a brunch buffet and the staff couldn't wait to disassemble -- so I was out of luck on dishes I wanted, and not just the bread pudding. Value proposition just fell apart. It wasn't like we were sitting there at 3 pm looking for brunch food. We were out of there by 2. Just sad.
Overhyped restaurant with mediocre pizza. I will not be going back.
We made a booking on OpenTable around noon for a table for 2 at 8pm the same day, and the app showed lots of availability. So we were really surprised to have to wait for over 30 minutes in the busy foyer area with no menus or access to drinks at least. We almost bought a cookie to tide us over. We were eventually seated at a small table between two large groups so were crammed in. The hostess apologized for the wait and said they would comp some apps, which we thought was a reasonable apology. They came out almost immediately - the Brussel sprouts and hummus - not apps we would've chosen, in fact, we subsequently ordered the meatballs anyway because the sprouts were mushy and drowning in vinegar, and we couldn't find any sight of the breadcrumbs. The server didn't ask anything about allergies either, so we didn't eat the hummus. I order a cocktail off the menu, and it arrived at 8.55pm - almost an hour after arriving at the restaurant I get my first drink. The pizzas were good quality, although the pepperoni one was a bit soggy in the middle and had caught on the crust, which makes me think the kitchen was rushing these out. As well as the hostess, the server made it clear they were comping the two apps we didn't get to choose, and barely ate, and so did another lady who we assume must be the manager. So we left feeling we were supposed to be eternally grateful but actually it was overall a bad night out, and a world away from what we've experienced at the adjoining Summer House. We don't plan on going back.
Amazing!!! Best Pizza and best service. Visited for my wife’s birthday and they brought a cookie, ice cream and a candle! Great! Thanks so much!
We had an awesome time at brunch. The only downside was our waiter would disappear and we had a hard time ordering more drinks and getting coffee refilled.
It’s was okay. We have had better experiences in the past here. Pizza was fine but their new extra crispy pizza wasn’t good at all. Very bland and tasted like a cracker. The restaurant is much too noisy. But service was good.
the food is great and we have always had good service. the seating is perhaps a little too crowded for comfort. otherwise, all good.
Great food and great service!
Exepreicne was great. Staff was great for our daughter's 10 years birthday dinner with 5 of her friends...
Everyone was friendly, but they either forgot to put my food order in or they just took way too long.
They were late seating us, they said they sent a message, but I never got one and we were right next to the hostess stand at the bar. Bar and table service were both slow
Yes, this experience was incredible. From the fast service upon ordering appetizers, to the wonderfully kind staff. This was one of the best, most fun date nights! Holly is a gem!
We waited over an hour for our table with the reservation. The hostess said the manager would come to our table when we sat down, which we thought was nice. But then no manager came, no reason for the wait besides they overbooked, and no nice gestures for the wait not even a free appetizer. Really poor service honestly.
$22.95 for buffet of the quality offered was about $10.00 too much. Food was a step above a free buffet at a motel 6. We love Stella barra but value missed big time. Sorry- that’s just honestly how we felt.
Not that you need to do anything about this additional point but also missed for me personally is the number of very young children and babies that contributed to the free for all in the buffet line.
