The best artisanal pizza in the city! Mushroom with truffle oil is my personal fav! Also, cookies are a must.
Pizza was burnt and little flavor
The overall experience was good, but I was very disappointed by the food. The pizzas lacked character. I ordered the shaved mushroom pizza and the toppings felt like an after thought. This pizza is under the white pizzas category, which is why I expected it to be much more creamier and the toppings to bring it to life. While the flavors were there, the crust was extremely crispy and thin, to the point that it felt extremely dry. The cheese on top could barely be felt when biting on it. The service on the other hand was very good and they were on top of everything.
Came in for Sunday brunch. Have to say this is my favorite brunch. 1 pm reservation. Had a nice meal and ready for some sweet so go back to buffet to get some bread pudding. None left and I'm told they won't be refilling it either. In fact a number of buffet stations empty and soon after they just shut it down even though the restaurant was crowded. My wonderful waitress offered to get me a cookie to replace. Very nice. And then she charged me for it. I don't care about the three bucks. It's that I paid for a brunch buffet and the staff couldn't wait to disassemble -- so I was out of luck on dishes I wanted, and not just the bread pudding. Value proposition just fell apart. It wasn't like we were sitting there at 3 pm looking for brunch food. We were out of there by 2. Just sad.
Overhyped restaurant with mediocre pizza. I will not be going back.
We made a booking on OpenTable around noon for a table for 2 at 8pm the same day, and the app showed lots of availability. So we were really surprised to have to wait for over 30 minutes in the busy foyer area with no menus or access to drinks at least. We almost bought a cookie to tide us over. We were eventually seated at a small table between two large groups so were crammed in. The hostess apologized for the wait and said they would comp some apps, which we thought was a reasonable apology. They came out almost immediately - the Brussel sprouts and hummus - not apps we would've chosen, in fact, we subsequently ordered the meatballs anyway because the sprouts were mushy and drowning in vinegar, and we couldn't find any sight of the breadcrumbs. The server didn't ask anything about allergies either, so we didn't eat the hummus. I order a cocktail off the menu, and it arrived at 8.55pm - almost an hour after arriving at the restaurant I get my first drink. The pizzas were good quality, although the pepperoni one was a bit soggy in the middle and had caught on the crust, which makes me think the kitchen was rushing these out. As well as the hostess, the server made it clear they were comping the two apps we didn't get to choose, and barely ate, and so did another lady who we assume must be the manager. So we left feeling we were supposed to be eternally grateful but actually it was overall a bad night out, and a world away from what we've experienced at the adjoining Summer House. We don't plan on going back.
Amazing!!! Best Pizza and best service. Visited for my wife’s birthday and they brought a cookie, ice cream and a candle! Great! Thanks so much!
We had an awesome time at brunch. The only downside was our waiter would disappear and we had a hard time ordering more drinks and getting coffee refilled.
It’s was okay. We have had better experiences in the past here. Pizza was fine but their new extra crispy pizza wasn’t good at all. Very bland and tasted like a cracker. The restaurant is much too noisy. But service was good.
Great food and great service!
the food is great and we have always had good service. the seating is perhaps a little too crowded for comfort. otherwise, all good.
Exepreicne was great. Staff was great for our daughter's 10 years birthday dinner with 5 of her friends...
Everyone was friendly, but they either forgot to put my food order in or they just took way too long.
They were late seating us, they said they sent a message, but I never got one and we were right next to the hostess stand at the bar. Bar and table service were both slow
Yes, this experience was incredible. From the fast service upon ordering appetizers, to the wonderfully kind staff. This was one of the best, most fun date nights! Holly is a gem!
We waited over an hour for our table with the reservation. The hostess said the manager would come to our table when we sat down, which we thought was nice. But then no manager came, no reason for the wait besides they overbooked, and no nice gestures for the wait not even a free appetizer. Really poor service honestly.
$22.95 for buffet of the quality offered was about $10.00 too much. Food was a step above a free buffet at a motel 6. We love Stella barra but value missed big time. Sorry- that’s just honestly how we felt.
Not that you need to do anything about this additional point but also missed for me personally is the number of very young children and babies that contributed to the free for all in the buffet line.
My friends are really enjoyed this place and great food for them. We will come again.
It was super loud playing 90’s rap music... don’t get me wrong I like that music but not when I’m trying to eat diner and hang out. I had to raise my voice to speak, couldn’t hear what the person next to me was saying. The tables were packed on top of each other. We ordered three different things.. salad, calamari and meatball pizza. The salad was amazing, calamari was soggy and the pizza just tasted like watered down marinara:/. The server was super attentive and awesome though.
We went on a Saturday at 11 and was super open and not packed which was really nice. The brunch buffet was super delicious and worth the price.
Best pizza I’ve had in ages. Excellent kale Caesar salad and I don’t like kale!! Very friendly servers and service. A wonderful evening!
This is a MUST dining experience for residents or visitors alike; fantastic menu items and
pricing standards, a very cool vibe, gorgeous ambiance, and extremely professional and
skilled service standards..another WINNING gem from this restaurant group!
I’ve been to Stella Barra many times over the years and it seems like something has changed in the kitchen. Service was good, seating was fast, but the food was just not good. The crust of the regular pizza was bland, bloated, and the sauce and cheese were as well. We got 4 different pizzas and not a single topping had an ounce of flavor, even on pizzas that had things like fresh mozzarella, sausage, etc. Definitely won’t be going there for pizza again unfortunately.
Food was good, drinks were good. Service was terrible. Reservation was at 7pm, wasn't seated until 7:30 and didn't get our drinks until 8pm.
Javier was amazing! Great wine recommendations and made our experience for us!
Great thin crust pizza ina good atmosphere. The hummus was the best part.
Great brunch buffet! Loved the cinnamon roll bread pudding and Mac and cheese!
I went for Sunday brunch and the brunch selection was suitable for all tastes. The mamosa was actually good. The music that played softly in the background was great..gave the place a energetic vibe. The service was amazing. Will definitely go back.
We used to come here more frequently because of the decent brunch buffet and pizza. They increased the brunch buffet price ($18.95 to $22.95) and reduced the number of items and in my view the quality of the food. As an example, they used to serve a decent short rib hash and they replaced it with an inferior Italian sausage hash. The crispy bacon (which every brunch has) is decent and so with the chicken sausage. The only items which, in my views were worth getting seconds were the chicken enchilada and the cinnamon bread pudding.
Went to the buffet brunch for restaurant week. It's connected to Summer House Santa Monica. Very good buffet. As with all buffets you do have to worry about the dirty lingerers, children & people not closing lids on hot foods & such but hey that's a buffet for ya. Oyster Bah's is a little better at that. Next door. The food is very different though. All in all I will go back & try other things!
Great service. Buffet had a good number of choices. Food was good. Wish they had pizza too.
We went for restaurant week and the menu seemed like a good sample of their regular options. The food was delicious and the service was great!
The backroom is a gem with a cozy fireplace for wintertime. There are many creative pizza choices as well as some standard combinations. Nice selection of beers on draft and bottles. Tried the new roasted broccoli salad with citrus mustard dressing--it was delicious! Our server told us that we could order !/2 and 1/2 pizza combinations--a great tip. I especially enjoyed the Shaved Mushroom white pizza (gruyère, melted onion, truffe oil, rosemary, parsley).
Annual place I visit! Love it!
Fun place. Great food and service.
Loved this place. They were very accommodating with dietary restrictions and had many many options and the food was delicious, wait staff was knowledgeable and very attentive. The venue itself is outstanding with the fireplace and lights. Only issue I had was that I made my reservation hours in advance and still got placed in a corner near the door away from the pretty parts of the restaurant. I had also specified in my reservation that there was a birthday and they did not even address it, even though another table got dessert and the singing. Just was a little disappointed.
It’s my kids’ favorite pizza place!
Gluten free pizza is great, cocktails are great! Highly recommend.
Always love having Stella Barra in my back pocket! Great go-to pieces on the menu and reliable experience.
