My daughter had a birthday lunch with friends, which they had a wonderful experience. We made reservations with Joellen for a decent sized group, which made our arrival seamless. Our server, Chris was spot on and kept everything flowing beautifully. And the manager, Kevin made sure everyone was happy! Definitely a great place to visit with friends and family.
My family and I really enjoyed this restaurant. It is certainly a gem in this area. The pizza was excellent and my children enjoyed the spaghetti and meat balls. Desert was great - fresh, enormous cookies!!!!
We appreciated the large, clean bathrooms as we have a newly potty trained toddler.
Hand down the best brunch for under $20 a head in the local area. Great selection of hot, fresh and very tasty items.
Book straight away and you won’t be disappointed
Our go-to Sunday brunch. Food is always good. Definitely need a reservation!
Poor service !!! We wait for everything : drink and pizza, the check ! And the restaurant wasn’t full !
We have enjoyed Stella Barra on many occasions - the pizza is delicious (love the butternut squash)! Unfortunately, this time our pizza was made with the wrong toppings and it was undercooked (crust was wet and gummy). The waitress and manager were very apologetic and accommodating, but the pizza was pretty disappointing. We will likely return, as this has not been the typical experience at Stella Barra.
Service was horrible. Open table reservation was worthless. Asked for a quiet table. One high top adjacent to bar was available.
The restaurant was so loud that we couldn't hear anyone speak at our table of 8. The salads were delicious but nothing that I couldn't make at home. The brussel sprouts were delicious, the best part of the meal. The pizzas had some interesting combinations but I wouldn't call them tasty and no one wanted the leftovers. The dessert cookies were extremely stale which makes me wonder if that's why they always offer to warm them up.
Very good thin crust pizza. Calamari was tender and delicious.
Probably the worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Ordered children’s meals that didn’t come out until almost the end of the dinner, pizzas were cold, cheese was not melted and service was horrible. The time it took to get everything was ridiculous and the server never cleared the tables once. The server kept apologizing and blaming the mishaps for various reasons. They ended up comping half of our dinner and giving us $100 in gift cards to come back. Not sure we will ever come back. Having been an almost regular at the Santa Monica location, this was a REAL disappointment. I recommended that the staff take a trip out to see how that Stella Barra is.
Given the solid reputation of the parent company - Lettuce Entertain You - in the gluten free world, we were extremely disappointed in this restaurant. We couldn't get a straight answer about safe food prep (different answers over the phone versus in person) and didn't feel comfortable the entire meal.
My fiancé and I went to Stella Barra for Valentine's Day. Our reservation was at 8:00 and we arrived at 8:05, but we weren't seated until around 8:20. Our server was very attentive and upbeat and checked in on us several times throughout the evening. Food came out quickly despite how busy the restaurant was. We love that the restaurant vibe is both hip and laidback!
Great service and healthy food, team members well trained.
They were out of gnocchi but the pizza was out of this world! Definitely felt a little overpriced but the place is nice, the food is delicious, and it’s the perfect spot for a date.
I really enjoyed my meal at Stella Barra! The butternut squash pizza was AMAZING! Also I don't love me butterscotch, but their butterscotch custard was wonderful! I will definitely return!
We ordered gnocchi with butter sage sauce and a cheese pizza. The pizza had to be re-made because the very thin crust (bottom) was soggy and fell apart. Would try gnocchi with the marinara sauce next time.
Had a great dinner with friends! Delicious salads and pizzas! Loved our bartender, Nick, and our waitress, Meredith! They were knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly!!!
The brunch is outstanding and great value. Must try!
Love this place! Exceptional service and fun environment.
Stella Barra has a decadent all you can eat brunch. All the food is prepared fresh and hot and they keep the buffet bar clean - not an easy task! Everything is high quality and tasty and they do a 3.00 bloody mary and mimosa - bring your appetite and make sure you get reservations, they are next to summer house. We got there around 10am when they open and by 11:30-12:30 both restaurants seem pretty full. Nice servers and managers are cool, Steve rocks!
Stella Barra has, hands down, the best brunch buffet around. It's small but the food is consistently high quality. My friend and I tried the pizza recently and it was fantastic. Clearly, this restaurant has a chef who knows what he's doing. I just hope it stays this way!
Always a treat to visit Stella. The family enjoys the brunch, especially with the little ones eating free. Very affordable and family friendly options. And just because it's a brunch buffet doesn't mean they lack on the service. The wait staff are attentive just the same. Don't feel bound to the buffet, the full menu is available as well.
Went for brunch for restaurant week. The restaurant is in a very cute shopping center with free parking. The food was great and the restaurant week deal was a great value. It’s also nice that happy hour goes from 11am-4pm on weekends. The only downside is that brunch ends at 2 instead of 3 like most places.
Spent a Sunday afternoon happy hour at Stella Barra and will gladly return. The local Surrender Dorothy RyePA was tasty and the Mushroom Pizza was excellent. Happy hour wings had a nice sweet sauce.
Stella Barra is a great restaurant for three things: Pizza, Brunch, and Bar. It’s across the way from Summer House with the bakery with amazing cookies in-between. The pizza is the best in this area, the brunch buffet is definitely the best value brunch that I have found in the entire DC/Metro. The buffet is only $16.95 and children 10< eat free - I don’t think there’s a better value brunch even in my hometown of Northfield, MN! Service is pretty consistently good as well, though if you’re in a rush, state it upfront! Some servers are definitely better than others, though they’re all pretty good. I would categorize this restaurant as a “Neighborhood Gem.” Much of the staff has been around for awhile, so they get to know you if you go pretty regularly which is definitely a plus, it shows good management. If you have young children and are there between 5:00-6:00 or it’s not too busy, they can create their own pizzas up front with the chef (usually Simba whom my children love!)
Seating is varied. There are some cozy leather love seats near the bar, and two 2/3 booths (which could also be one 3/4 booth for a larger party). All other seating is your basic table with chairs.
Ambiance is good (think cozy, local, brick oven joint). Not too light but not too dark. It’s a pretty small space, so I’d definitely recommend reservations unless doing the bar. Food is consistently good. Never had a pizza I didn’t love, and the Brussels Sprouts are the biggest stand outs. If you’ve been to Italy and loved the pizza, try the Procuitto and Egg pizza, ask for an extra drizzle of olive oil. It is the closest thing to authentic Italian pizza I’ve had outside of Italy! Other favorites are the Cheese (used to be called “Old School Cheese”), Butternut Squash, Mushroom (if you love mushrooms), and the Arugula w/ Avocado. I’m abbreviating as I don’t recall the full titles.
Great time with friends for pre-new year’s eve dinner
Great affordable brunch and good with kids!
Wish we could get $3 bloody Mary's all the time!!
Fun time, good location. The pizza and gorgonzola salad were both excellent.
Veryyyy tasty food! I normally never eat the pizza crust, but this crust was amazing. It had the perfect amount of crisp and softness. The baked rigatoni with sausage, onion, and gruyere and the kale and chicke pizza with arugula pesto was so good and filling and didn’t not make me feel guilty afterwards! The ambience is very nice and cozy. We sat at a kind of a bar table. I thought it would be too small, but it was actually perfect for date night conversations! Loved it! Our waitress and hostess were also very friendly and nice.
The absolute best gluten free pizza crust I have ever had. I have (unfortunately) been gluten free for over 7 years and this is by far the best. Tastes like a thin crust (crispy!) pizza.
The Pizza is always excellent; tried the shaved mushroom and Gruyere this time and was not disappointed ! They had 7-Locks beer, "Surrender Dorothy" which was pretty good. I remember the graffiti on the bridge over the beltway near the Mormon Temple from years ago - it made me laugh to see the beer name and had to get it.
Prices have gone up on the pizzas since the early days. While they are not "expensive", they are for pizza. I must say the pizzas are excellent though.
Reservations didn’t seem to help, took 30 min to get our table. Gluten free pizza crust was good even to the non celiac at the table. Staff seemed slammed.
For a table of only 4 people the food took a long time to be served (45 mins). I was very surprised by the long wait since it as not crowded and we only ordered 3 pizzas and a Caesar salad, which was never brought to the table and had to ask for it to be removed from the check. That being said the drink order was very quick and they brought out a complimentary cookie dessert for my friends wedding anniversary which was what the dinner was celebrating. Also the butternut squash pizza was absolutely delicious.
Great value for great food! Brunch was amazing and kids ate free!! Loved the French toast and even the egg whites!
Decor is cool. Has a lounge feel to it. Music was a bit loud and playing current hits, not conducive to a date but it is what it is. I ordered one pizza half cheese and half mushroom. No apps. Waitress said pizzas are made from scratch and would take 20 mins. No problem I feel like that is a standard wait time. Took 45 mins. I was confused because the restaurant really wasn't that busy. Maybe they are running pizzas next door because they share real estate with Summer House. I didn't say anything because I don't like to complain but the waitress took initiative and came over and apologized and said she informed a manager of the situation but that didn't change anything. No discount or free dessert or anything. Wasn't looking for that compensation but I was confused by her statement and what it was meant to accomplish. The pizza was very good. It's light and you don't feel disgusting like after eating delivery pizza. You can tell it's all made from scratch. For sure gourmet, quality. My hesitation in going back would be the wait time. I also would go back with friends but not on a date because the loud music takes away from the intimacy. UPDATE: the review above was from my first trip. I went again last Saturday and service was good and food as fantastic. I updated my yelp reviews to 4 stars
Never going back. 35mn later burnt pizza shows up and my wife ordered a salad also took just as long and they got her order wrong. 1 word = terrible
Very pleased with the service and prices. Excellent thin crust pizza.
I expected to have the best service and food and it was a total let down especially driving 40 miles to get there. First they didn’t have there daily feature(appetizer) and the manager came to table and got us calamari instead. The server didn’t even by and apologize she was to busy getting comfortable with the manager it seemed like. My pizza came out first and they told my friend it would be just a minute for hers over all it took her about 15 minutes to get hers and it wasn’t even a new pizza just one with a new egg and reheated. The server then ignored us the whole time we were waiting for that pizza and the manager didn’t even come by to let us know what was going on. You would think for an 18 dollar pizza it would be a new one. I don’t understand what went wrong especially since there were only like 3 tables in the restaurant. Definitely won’t be coming back and I will make sure to let my friends know this restaurant was a complete let down. Thank you.
The brunch buffet was pricey but delicious. I highly recommend the enchiladas and bread pudding.
My 1st experience here (March 21st, 2017) was much better. 2nd experience (Oct 20th, 2017) The server we had was not attentive,. I had to get her attention several times. The ambiance is nice. Great for date night.
