Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation. We waited one hour to be seated. We we’re never told why we were unable to be seated nor approached to resolve our concerns about the long wait. We finally settled our bar tab and we’re leaving, we were told the table was available. There are too many great Steakhouses in Austin to be treated like this.
We love this restaurant not only for the great food and service, but it’s location. During daylight it has a lovely view of the lake. It’s a bit pricey and the wine list, while extensive, is also a bit expensive. Only glitch this time is we had 7:45 pm dinner reservations, but we’re not seated for almost 45 minutes. To be fair, it is the Holiday season and they were very busy, but a reservation should have not made us wait quite that long.
We really enjoyed our evening celebrating our daughters 30th! Staff was friendly and helpful. Live Music was an unexpected bonus. Our meals were good. Only negative was the coffee was weak but we like it very strong. Can’t wait to bring our out of state friends there!
This was our 20th anniversary. Everything was great, especially the young lady and the young man she was training, that waited on us.
Only issue we had was a pricing issue. We ordered, for an appetizer, lobster that was deep fried. It was very good. Well when we got the bill, that appetizer cost $59.00. We had no idea it cost that much. If we were told the cost when she presented it to us, we would have declined ordering it.
We did not say anything at the time because we had an outstanding evening.
4 of us dining. One got prime rib so full of fat it could not be eaten. I got ribeye very thin and small. I was shocked. I have eaten there many times and been happy. Perhaps it was a bad night in the kitchen but it was not impressive nor tasteful. John the wait person was exceptional and made sure the manager came over to address the disappointment. The manager took one off the bill. I will go back knowing it should be better in the future!
I have been to SRS many times, and usually we have great food and solid service. This time it was a miss on all levels. First we stopped at the bar for a glass of house wine and a martini. (2 drinks total...$34...seriously?) We were then seated on the top level of the restaurant. I feel like this may be one of the main reasons why our experience was not so great. It took 20 minutes after placing a drink order to get a bottle of wine brought up, and our appetizers (including soup) were all cold. The fish we ordered was over-breaded and over-cooked. It was all just a big disappointment. I'm not saying I won't be back, but I can assure you that I will never agree to sit anywhere but the first level again, and certainly won't order a drink at the bar without asking for prices first. I still don't understand how a glass of house wine and a martini can add up to $34. Ridiculous.
This is a beautiful place and was our first time there. We had reservations with open table and when we got there they told us they had a nice table for us on the second floor. We went up the stairs and when we got there, the table was not ready for us. The hostess apologized and asked us to come back downstairs with her. We did and they told her that the issue was fixed so we went back upstairs and when we got there, the table was still not ready. It was very frustrating as we were dressed up and knew the place is not cheap. They asked us to sit in an alternative table until ours got fixed. It was a shaky start to our date but after that everything went well.
We LOVE Steiner Ranch. I have traveled a lot. This is my favorite steak house on the planet. Last night was no exception except for one thing. Our waiter seemed to have gotten overloaded. This was a double birthday occasion. Me and my wife are 2 days apart. All was perfect. The group beside us also celebrated a birthday. A small desert with a candle was delivered to them. Our waiter disappeared at the end; we waited and waited....and waited for him to show up to ask if we wanted desert. Well after waiting, I flagged him down from across the room. He returned and handed the bill to me and wished us happy birthday. No dessert menu, no cake, no candles, nothing. My 22% tip dropped to 16%, he was great until he wasn't. A disappointing end to an otherwise perfect evening.
We were visiting Austin and wanted a good Texas steak - Steiner Ranch Steakhouse exceeded our expectations ... Beautiful restaurant with scenic view and amazing steak and side dishes, and an amazing outdoor seating with bar area and live music. We also enjoyed visiting the cozy library and reading about the Steiner family. Will definitely be back on our next visit to Austin, this was one of our all time favorite places to visit!
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place. We are both from out of town and reuniting after some long travel days. I was impressed with how many optional venues were available. We had a table in the back of the restaurant as we were there for a romantic date and wanted to look over the lake. Amazing table setting, service and food. Ladies, bring something to cover up, the room is cold. But as we were approaching our meal’s conclusion, our amazing waitress, Alexandria reserved uz a table on the patio so we could continue our drinks in an amazing setting of live music, dancing and an abundance of laughter from other happy patrons. We went home with stomachs full of great food, kisses that tasted of laughter and hints of drinks and a night of love filled memories that her and I will take with uz always. Thank you.
Beautiful view of Lake Travis from the “Sunset “ room . The grilled meat was fantastic - flavorful & tender. The service from all the staff was excellent. After dinner we sat on the patio, next to fire pit, listened to live music and another great view of Lake Travis. Strongly recommend Steiner Ranch Steakhouse !
Great view, wonderful surroundings. Food was great, but the broccoli I ordered with my NY strip were a little crisp for my liking.
The biggest issue was the waitstaff, however. Our waiter always looked like he didn't have time for us. Our promised bread never came before the meal, nor our appetizer (chips and salsa!). Someone else brought our dinner and kindly offered to remove the app from the bill. They even gave us bread pudding, yum.
Overall, the food and restaurant itself were excellent. We would absolutely come back to give them another chance.
