Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I have been to SRS many times, and usually we have great food and solid service. This time it was a miss on all levels. First we stopped at the bar for a glass of house wine and a martini. (2 drinks total...$34...seriously?) We were then seated on the top level of the restaurant. I feel like this may be one of the main reasons why our experience was not so great. It took 20 minutes after placing a drink order to get a bottle of wine brought up, and our appetizers (including soup) were all cold. The fish we ordered was over-breaded and over-cooked. It was all just a big disappointment. I'm not saying I won't be back, but I can assure you that I will never agree to sit anywhere but the first level again, and certainly won't order a drink at the bar without asking for prices first. I still don't understand how a glass of house wine and a martini can add up to $34. Ridiculous.
This is a beautiful place and was our first time there. We had reservations with open table and when we got there they told us they had a nice table for us on the second floor. We went up the stairs and when we got there, the table was not ready for us. The hostess apologized and asked us to come back downstairs with her. We did and they told her that the issue was fixed so we went back upstairs and when we got there, the table was still not ready. It was very frustrating as we were dressed up and knew the place is not cheap. They asked us to sit in an alternative table until ours got fixed. It was a shaky start to our date but after that everything went well.
We LOVE Steiner Ranch. I have traveled a lot. This is my favorite steak house on the planet. Last night was no exception except for one thing. Our waiter seemed to have gotten overloaded. This was a double birthday occasion. Me and my wife are 2 days apart. All was perfect. The group beside us also celebrated a birthday. A small desert with a candle was delivered to them. Our waiter disappeared at the end; we waited and waited....and waited for him to show up to ask if we wanted desert. Well after waiting, I flagged him down from across the room. He returned and handed the bill to me and wished us happy birthday. No dessert menu, no cake, no candles, nothing. My 22% tip dropped to 16%, he was great until he wasn't. A disappointing end to an otherwise perfect evening.
We were visiting Austin and wanted a good Texas steak - Steiner Ranch Steakhouse exceeded our expectations ... Beautiful restaurant with scenic view and amazing steak and side dishes, and an amazing outdoor seating with bar area and live music. We also enjoyed visiting the cozy library and reading about the Steiner family. Will definitely be back on our next visit to Austin, this was one of our all time favorite places to visit!
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place. We are both from out of town and reuniting after some long travel days. I was impressed with how many optional venues were available. We had a table in the back of the restaurant as we were there for a romantic date and wanted to look over the lake. Amazing table setting, service and food. Ladies, bring something to cover up, the room is cold. But as we were approaching our meal’s conclusion, our amazing waitress, Alexandria reserved uz a table on the patio so we could continue our drinks in an amazing setting of live music, dancing and an abundance of laughter from other happy patrons. We went home with stomachs full of great food, kisses that tasted of laughter and hints of drinks and a night of love filled memories that her and I will take with uz always. Thank you.
Beautiful view of Lake Travis from the “Sunset “ room . The grilled meat was fantastic - flavorful & tender. The service from all the staff was excellent. After dinner we sat on the patio, next to fire pit, listened to live music and another great view of Lake Travis. Strongly recommend Steiner Ranch Steakhouse !
Great view, wonderful surroundings. Food was great, but the broccoli I ordered with my NY strip were a little crisp for my liking.
The biggest issue was the waitstaff, however. Our waiter always looked like he didn't have time for us. Our promised bread never came before the meal, nor our appetizer (chips and salsa!). Someone else brought our dinner and kindly offered to remove the app from the bill. They even gave us bread pudding, yum.
Overall, the food and restaurant itself were excellent. We would absolutely come back to give them another chance.
My family came to town for F1 weekend and we went to Steiner Ranch for dinner Saturday night. They were grossly understaffed for an event weekend, and we had significant wait times between each course that was ordered. I requested a table on the patio and did not know there was a band performing that evening. We were three tables deep from the stage and the music was so loud we were unable to talk to one another. This was disappointing as we only get together 3-4 times a year. We requested a table inside due to the noise. Initially the hostess said it would be a 45 minute wait, even though there were many tables open, but eventually we were seated inside. Once inside the service and quality of the experience improved immensely, but due to everything that happened before we moved inside I am hesitant to return to or recommend this restaurant.
I propose to my girlfriend on the upper deck at sunset, the staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect . The food, the music and the sunset on the patio were absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic date at sunset .
The hostess was very accommodating and sat us in a great spot outside since we were celebrating our anniversary. Service otherwise was just okay. It certainly didn't match the price tag. Took forever to get our waters and had to ask multiple times. Asked for more rolls and never got them. Had to ask for silverware. I think the staff is overextended with all the extra outdoor seating. Our filet and burger were just okay. Probably won't be back for dinner. Great view and live music. I am not a huge fan of not having really any non dining space outside except for right by the bar anymore. Takes away from the charm of the outdoor space. I understand they needed more seating to reduce wait time but maybe just not as much as they did.
steiner has a great location and the service is always very attentive. I was not as hungry as I usually am when going to steiner but the steak didn't quite come out right. But the prep was good no scorching etc. so chalk it up to a slight miss or that I am very picky. My guests loved the place.
Live in Georgetown TX. Been in Austin for +30yrs. Wanting to try Steiner Ranch Steak House. What an awesome experience. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable – she suggested the “boomerang” steak w/ 9lb lobster tail. For the three of us. Also, crab cake appetizer. She was spot-on everything. Wine, menu desert…. I requested that I speak to the manager to let him know what a wonderful reflection she was on Steiner Ranch. The food was wonderful and the live music after was awesome.
The view – what can you say - Spectacular!!
This ism now my wife and my top shelf in central Texas. Look forward to seeing you soon. Bother-in-law visiting next week from Tampa. Will be treating him to Steiner Ranch Steak House.
One of the best independent steak restaurants I’ve found in the Austin area. We were seated directly next to the piano player and the room was packed so it was a little noisy. Also, the service was very slow. But it wasn’t so bad as to ruin the meal. The fried asparagus with crab sauce appetizer was excellent. Both of our steaks were perfect, as were the sides. Wish they had a better selection of draft beers but the wine list is extensive and reasonable. The bread pudding is a excellent dessert. Over, an extremely meal in a wonderful setting. Not to be missed.
Steiner Ranch was recommended to us by a co-worker and aren't we glad we listened to her advice. My husband and I came to Steiner Ranch on October 6th to celebrate his birthday. The atmosphere was amazing, such an amazing view, our server was outstanding, and the food was to die for. My hasband how the Bobby's house Special and I had the salmon. The presentation alone was beautiful. Oh and the Lemon Drop Martins were extraordinary!!! Thank you for making my husband's birthday a memorable experience.
