Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit and we came based on friend's recommendation. Food was tasty and our server was okay but we sure didn't appreciate eating our expensive steak dinner surrounded by dirty dishes on vacated tables. We were appalled to see every server, every bus person and even a manager walk around these tables without concern for seeing that they were cleaned. The wait staff here is NOT a team - its a one on one for each table with no cooperation it seemed.
We will give it another try in the future but this steakhouse needs to up its efforts a bit.
Took my wife for a rare date night to Steiner Ranch Steak house. Our server, James, was very attentive and the food was exquisite! Their wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Steiner Ranch Steak house for date night, family dinners.
We went to the Steiner Steakhouse for New Years Eve. The atmosphere was very upbeat and fun. They had party favors, champagne and a great fireworks show. Our waiter, Casey was fantastic. He didn't rush us to turn our table and he was very fun! I would recommend it for NYE.
Always a lovely dining experience at STeiner Steskhouse. A little disappointed as we requested booth seating, but were seated directly in front of the piano in the middle of the room🙁. The hostess was confused and kept us waiting for at least 15 minutes as she sat other parties walking in?? I know it was New Years Eve, but booths remained vacant throughout the time we were dining??
Everything was amazing from the drive up to the restaurant with all the outside decor to the table right next to the fireplace that was acknowledged from my request at the time of booking. James was a great server with solid recommendations. Asparagus app is a must and the coffees and cheesecake for dessert. The only hiccup was my fiancé and I’s steaks were cooked to temperature flip flop from what we requested. Other than that, it was superb. Definitely coming back!
The steaks were excellent since we were celebrating a birthday as well as the new year we splurged and got the wagyu cuts. The sides left something to be desired but the steak could not have been better itself. They were amazing and gave us a complementary bread pudding in honor of the celebration which was excellent. It had been several years since I had dined at Steiner and it will definitely not be that long before I return.
We dine at Steiner at least twice a year. This time, the experience was very bad. The waitress made 3 mistakes on our orders. No extra dressing on the side for a salad. Our medium to medium rare prime rib was extra rare. We asked to box our kids extra food but she threw it away. She replaced it with a new order, but we had to wait 10 minutes to get it. My wife called the manager the next day to discuss this, left a message with a hostess, and never received a call back.
We were seated efficiently. Our server was quick to greet us and get us drinks. The atmosphere is comfortable whether for a nice dinner or a special occasion. Our food was prepared well with only one error. One dinner was served with green beans when asparagus was ordered. Our server corrected that. There was no other issues with our meals.
Excellent food and ambiance for my bday but the waitress (young blonde) seemed new and didn’t greet us for at least 10 minutes tables around us that were seated after us had water and cocktails before we were greeted. She didn’t bring a wine or cocktail menu than when asked for one she brought the wine menu. Still no cocktail menu; when my husband asked what IPA’s she had she said not sure let me grab you the cocktail menu. Service was slow and than after dinner she barely cleared our plates and just assumed what dessert we wanted for my bday and ordered it and never brought that table a dessert menu. We will be back but this waitress needs to go to a lower scaled restaurant to get some practice. I was jealous of the service the other tables were receiving as we were celebrating my 41st birthday and wish we had the same service.
We were there for the Christmas Eve brunch. We had to sit upstairs and go up and down to get our food. The upstairs room was freezing. None of the food was warm, except the Cesar salad. There were no burners under the meatballs and others were burned out. The waiter was very nice and I have no problem with his service. I can get a better brunch for a better price elsewhere. The last two times I have been to Steiner, I have not been impressed and will cease recommending it.
We were VERY disappointed in the Brunch. We reserved our table online, for a non-busy time of the day. When we arrived, the parking lot was not filled at all, and there were many free tables on the first floor. However, we were led to the second floor...very disappointed as we brought our son who had never experienced the brunch. Secondly, some of the food options were not hot, and if they were, they definitely cooled on the way upstairs. Thirdly, we were unaware that the price doubled for holidays. I saw that on the website that the price “varies”, however, I would never pay twice for the same food I could have had a week earlier, or a week later. We will go again, as we truly love the brunch, but this was a disappointment and embarrassment, as we wanted to make it a celebration of my son coming home for the holidays.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation. We waited one hour to be seated. We we’re never told why we were unable to be seated nor approached to resolve our concerns about the long wait. We finally settled our bar tab and we’re leaving, we were told the table was available. There are too many great Steakhouses in Austin to be treated like this.
We love this restaurant not only for the great food and service, but it’s location. During daylight it has a lovely view of the lake. It’s a bit pricey and the wine list, while extensive, is also a bit expensive. Only glitch this time is we had 7:45 pm dinner reservations, but we’re not seated for almost 45 minutes. To be fair, it is the Holiday season and they were very busy, but a reservation should have not made us wait quite that long.
We really enjoyed our evening celebrating our daughters 30th! Staff was friendly and helpful. Live Music was an unexpected bonus. Our meals were good. Only negative was the coffee was weak but we like it very strong. Can’t wait to bring our out of state friends there!
This was our 20th anniversary. Everything was great, especially the young lady and the young man she was training, that waited on us.
Only issue we had was a pricing issue. We ordered, for an appetizer, lobster that was deep fried. It was very good. Well when we got the bill, that appetizer cost $59.00. We had no idea it cost that much. If we were told the cost when she presented it to us, we would have declined ordering it.
We did not say anything at the time because we had an outstanding evening.
4 of us dining. One got prime rib so full of fat it could not be eaten. I got ribeye very thin and small. I was shocked. I have eaten there many times and been happy. Perhaps it was a bad night in the kitchen but it was not impressive nor tasteful. John the wait person was exceptional and made sure the manager came over to address the disappointment. The manager took one off the bill. I will go back knowing it should be better in the future!
