We went here because it looked like a cool little place and we wanted to check out the dance lessons after. We had a reservation but didn't need one since the place was so empty. They didn't even ask us if we had a reservation though so I don't know if it came up as a cancellation or not.
Whatever the case... service was absolutely horrible. It took about 30 minutes to get anything ordered. Typical rhythm is to do a drink/appetizer order to start then come back again for a food order. After such a long wait she asked for our entire order (not just drinks/starters) which was very off putting and felt like we were being rushed. Why were we being rushed? There was nobody in there? Then after she disappeared it appeared like someone from back-of-house served the appetizers/drinks. Then a long wait after, yet another person came to serve food. The waitress came by after to check in and apologized for being so distant then left again. Don't apologize while you're actively having bad service.... just fix the problem and make it right. I wanted to order more drinks but at this point I had no confidence to rely on their ability to serve without a substantial wait.
For as empty as it was we saw our waitress twice through out the whole evening. As I was leaving the hostess said good night but we hadn't even paid yet. Since waitress was MIA we hadn't received the check. It was a long awkward drawn out process for the hostess to get us our check which required her getting a manager who said that our waitress got pulled into bar duty. Okay.... well if that's the case... get us a different waitress. The table right next to us had a different waitress and they came by a half dozen times in a shorter time frame.
I wish I could recommend this place it seemed like it would be a great time but actual experience says otherwise.
It was a great location to eat before seeing our show at the Pantages. Service was good, everyone was happy with their meal
Service was unreasonably slow and it wasn’t even busy. Our entrées came out before our appetizer, so we told them we didn’t want it anymore. We then order desserts and it took over 20 minutes for two desserts. We had to ask for drink refills which came right as we were leaving. I can comfortably say I’ll never revisit in my lifetime!
Service was excellent and servers were attentive and friendly. We went there for the prime rib and it was excellent. My wife would have liked a bake potato, but was not on the menu. I had the loaded mash potatoes, delicious. We will be back.
well we booked through open table and although I did add the number of guests coming I did call well in advance they were more than happy to add the additional guest but we booked it as a birthday and there wasn't any comments about that, some of the food was lukewarm however seem to be a fun environment and although we didn't stay past 9 it seemed like it would have been something fun
Good food, good service, reasonable prices. Responsive to our need to get the check so we'd be on time for the show.
Food was excellent. We had steak and it was cook absolutely perfectly! I would highly recommend this place for a casual dinner of date night. We went on a Wednesday and it was very quiet but was told the weekends can get a little crazy. We plan to come back.
Super slow service. Was with a party of 6 and it took over 50mins to get our food despite the place being pretty empty.
For a slow evening the service was extremely slow also, food was ok, a cut above "Bar Food"
Wonderful prime rib! Excellent service, they went out of their way to please. The atmosphere is fun and casual.
Love the variety of whisky, food is very good
Very disappointed with this place after reading reviews online. Service was nice but VERY slow, and there were less than 10 customers in the place. The kitchen was slow, and the bar was slower. Food was pretty average, but not priced that way, and it cane out luke warm but for the time it took to get it we didn't want to wait for a retry. And for a whiskey bar, the selection is wide, but for the price you don't even get a one finger pour...maybe a 1/3 finger. We ordered both a single malt scotch, and a domestic whiskey and both pours were pretty skimpy. Overall we were very underwhelmed and disappointed.
We were there before 9pm so I think it's a very different experience than if you went after that because it looked like they had two dance floors in there. However, the ambiance, food and service was all great.
Food good. Service lousy. Seating not good made us go into the bar for a table when many open and wanted to put a 370pund guy in a booth
We had a great time it wasn't too crowded and didn't feel " herded" in and out as we have in other places. The food was well prepared and displayed nicely. The staff kept the food fresh, the service was fantastic. Thanks for a wonderful Mother's Day event.
Great food and excellent environment
We had Mother's Day Brunch here. They served a buffet style. They had a carving station. The Prime rib was excellent. They had a omelet station too. The food selection was great for the price. Service was great and they even offered a photo booth which was free.
We came here for happy hour before a show at Tacoma Comedy Club. We plan to come again to try out their dinner menu. Food and service were great. It's quiet to moderate during happy hour, but energetic late night when they have the country music and dancing. Very clean, nice ambiance, well decorated too.
We had a great time at Steel Creek. Dinner and a dance lesson! I will definitely go back!
Was a new place for us to try in Tacoma area. Food was good and we were looking for a casual atmosphere and this place fit that goal.
I wish I would have ordered it just for the novelty! My Prime Rib was Prime Rib; always a safe choice. We were there 5pm on Friday and I think there were folks already staking out their seats for that night. There is also a mechanical bull...if there was any doubt it's a country western bar.
It took FOUR people to find our reservation. Are you kidding me? We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, in virtually an empty restaurant, because the first three people didn't "see" it. Then, when the server came to take our order... She literally walked off to talk to three other servers as we were ordering.
The meat portion of the dinner was fine. The vegetables were soggy and over cooked.
It was 6 pm, and not at all
Busy. Not the best overall dining experience.
The food and service were very good. When we arrived, it was fairly quiet. But as the evening progressed, the noise level grew. By the time we left, it was getting difficult to carry on a conversation.
Great food and great entertainment. I took two step lessons with my fiance and the very minimal cover charge covers your first beer or well drink. Will be back.
my husband and I tried this place twice and the first time we went there the food was good and we really like it. We came back a second time because I thought it was a cool place and i really like the country music. However the second time I ordered the salmon instead of a steak and it was God Awful! it was a hard, dry, crumbly little piece of salmon and i had one taste and sent it back. My waitress was understanding and got me a prime rib dinner really fast but that wasn't good either. It was totally unflavored and bland. I asked for salt and pepper and I never got it. then we told out waitress we were in a hurry to leave because we had to pick up our kids and then she decides to start taking orders for a party of about 20. It was not a good experience and definitley not worth the drive it took for us to get there.
Went for an early dinner before a show at the Pantages. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, quality and quantity was sufficient. Would try again.
Wait staff was very attentive. Food was fantastic. Ambience was fine for family dining.
We have dined at the Steel Creek American Whiskey Company 4 times now and will certainly be back again. It's location 3 blocks from the Pantages and Rialto Theaters in downtown Tacoma makes it a perfect spot for dinner before a show. The menu isn't large but the meals we've had have all been well prepared and the service is friendly. Good spot for stopping by for a drink and to watch the night life after the concert as well.
The drink selection is always worth the trip. Their food is always top notch and very tasty. The line dancing is what most come for. Even if you are a beginner it is still a blast!
Thanks for such as great time to help celebrate my 21st birthday. Mom is a regular there, and it was definitely the place to go.
This place has alot going for it, but everyone in a management position act as if they don't care whether the restaurant success or fails. The wait staff have zero motivation to help out customers and disappear for lengthy stretches of time. It took over 30 minutes to get our appetizer. When we first arrived I made mention of some nice booths that were available, bit the greater took us all the way to the back away from a nice view and the comfy booths. Guess she didn't get the hint. The booth we did get was uncomfortable and hurt your knee's. The only thing they were quick to bring was drinks, bit the bar was only ten feet from us so not necessarily a real challenge. This place was only at about third capacity, but the reason for the delay on our food was quote, "that other big group put their order in before you". Really?! I'd hate to see this place at full capacity. The prime rib finally showed up and was near cold. The flatbread was sent back as it wasn't hardly cooked. The prime rib also had more fat than meat and was a skimpy 12 oz. All in all if they had the right management it has the potential to be a really nice place. Untill then consider it just another oversized country bar.
The service was great though we were there at 630 pm on Tuesday evening and wasn't very busy. The food was on par with Applebees, if you got it only warm. Our "starter" came out after the meals due to some confusion. Nice place though and great service.
We had a fun time and the food was delicious! The entire experience was better than we expected!
Our waitress was so pretty in spirit and body! Please tell Ms Sandy's she's going to be a great mom, Lord willing and we truly love her. Thank you Sandy. I hope I spelled her name right lol...
I've had Mother's Day Brunch at a couple of places that don't normally do brunch, and those places did a mediocre job at it. I have to give Steel Creek credit, though, they did a great job on this one. I'd never been there before...don't do the bar scene any more and had never heard of the place, to be honest. However, they did a pretty decent brunch, with an omelet bar, prime rib, shrimp, and the best mashed potato hash browns I've ever had. There were also biscuits and gravy, fruit, and a table full of sweets. Nothing fancy or elaborate, and not a huge selection, but what they had was good. They had a free photo booth, too, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was okay, with the wait staff friendly but slightly aloof--could be they didn't have enough staff to cover all the tables effectively.
All in all, we had a great brunch, and I might even consider going back with some girlfriends to check out the line dancing lessons and mechanical bull...
Great tasting food, super waitress, nice décor. Appetizers took a bit longer than they should have. But overall everything was really good. I would recommend turning down the music though. We were here at 5 and it was hard to have a conversation because of the loud music. That volume might be good for a later crowd and dancing but not for dinner. I will definitely come back to this restaurant.
Great food, accommodating and friendly staff. We are already planning our return trip.
A pleasant surprise in our neighbor hood with great food . Staff is very upbeat and work together . Our server Rayanna was professional and fun . Food was excellent . The Blody Mary's to die for . We certainly will be back .
I had a reservation and showed up early and it was not a problem. Did have to wait 5-10 minutes for the hostess but I was understanding. Food was pretty good and service was quick. Waitresses were very friendly and professional.
It was our first visit to Steel Creek and we enjoyed everything about it. The music was great and the service was fantastic, and the food was reasonably priced. The food was served quickly, while being hot and tasty. I ordered the fish and chips and was impressed by the fish-to-batter ratio. No oil-soaked blanket of flour with a tiny piece of fish hidden inside was to be found! Our waitress, Meghan, was very attentive and courteous and helped to make our first visit pleasurable. We'll definitely be adding Steel Creek American Whiskey Co. to our restaurant rotation.
