Really enjoyed the dinner with seven friends. Service was outstanding and the food is some of the best pub-food in the city with upscale options for those that want it. My filet was perfectly cooked.
Eight coworkers visited on a Thursday night following a conference. 4 of us got dinners in a good time , but the others didn't receive food until we were nearly finished. It was awkward as the waitress seemed frustrated but tried to solve the issue. Were met and served complimentary wine to by the manager. This was appreciated. I would hesitate to recommend based upon this experience, but will try the restaurant again personally. Mistakes happen. Also didn't like sitting so near the kitchen, especially after having made an online reservation.
Great food, reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal.
I've been here twice with groups. It's best for beer lovers, and comfort food. The Nacho Platter was enough for four hungry people to share (pre dinner of course). Does get crowded and table/chair space is tight.
We had a great time! We love steamworks
They put us a little out of the way for our group of 10. The location was great for our group as we had one who had mobility issues. So no view, but no stairs and a HC washroom right there. The service was great, the food was good and we had a great time.
Excellent service! I was greeted with a smile at the moment I stepped into the door. My server came slightly late to the table but she started with an apology and quickly took care of us - not a problem at all. It is amazing how effective a simple smile and a warm welcome would come a long way! Steamworks, job well done! I will definitely do more business lunches here!
It was a nice place to bring friends from out-of-town. They enjoyed the view of the harbour.
The New Years celebration wasn't as I had expected as there was none other than a TV countdown. Otherwise the service was excellent!
I had made a reservation for a Sunday evening sinner with my family. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess greeted us and took us to our table straight away. We ordered some drinks and food - the server seemed pleasant, however after our order was taken she became quite unattentive. We often had to call her over for additional drink orders and condiments. Normally I would overlook the slow service, but the restaurant wasn't busy enough to warrant it and it caused some annoyance to our other guests who had not been to the restaurant before. Despite this, we rally enjoyed the food, drink, and atmosphere.
This restaurant is across the road from my office so I go quite often and always enjoy my lunch. This time I went with someone who had never been before. She wanted to order 2 things to share so we ordered the Tempesta (?) pizza and dry ribs. The ribs weren't very good but they're not something I enjoy and would never have ordered myself. The pizza is one of my favourite items but it was overcooked and not nearly as good as usual. So not a great lunch but that was the exception, not the rule. In fact, until that meal, I've always enjoyed everything I've ordered in the past.
Thank you for that romantic Christmas eve Dinner! Friendly staff, nice ambiance and perfect cuisine, love that place!
We were seated right away. Orders arrived wrong but once corrected all of us commented that the food was good. My beef dip was excellent.
Only problem was our table location!! Since we had reservations, I thought we'd get a decent table. We were seated in the very dark and noisy downstairs, right by the kitchen....disappointing!!!!! There were 6 of us so nowhere else to go at that time. Won't stay if that happens again. Our previous visits were much better because we weren't seated downstairs.
service was great, friendly without being cloying. seasonal beer very tasty, loved the hint of pumpkin... we were a work group and shared appies, everything tasted great, won me over on the spicy pizza and the stuffed mushroom caps were fabulous. would definitely go back, and recommend it to my office as a good place for the team to go.
Wedensday night. What could possibly go wrong ? well , I asked for window reservation and instead we were sitted downstairs beside the kitchen with bad ventilation and all our clothing smelled like food all night. We did not get a server for about 15 minutes and we had to ask for someone to help us after we realized no one I'd coming. Service used to be better here.
Lovely patio, fast and very friendly server, delicious burger! Came in for a couple drinks and a snack before a Lions game and they were always quick with our orders, split the bill and came ready for payment. Would go back again!
Great service. Visiting from out of town and they took our reservation kind of last minute. The service inside the bar was good as well. Standard bar food, nothing too spectacular. If you go in the summer time, try to sit outside. Has a great view.
FIve business woman met for lunch. The server was patient and listened to everyone's dietary needs at the table took our orders with a smile. The food came in a timely fashion, the food was hot which I find a plus :0)
All of us enjoyed our lunch and will most likely be back.
Please contact me on 001-778-389-8721 to discuss on dining points.
It started badly as the hostess sat us in the dungeon downstairs where they were hosing down the kettles and it was musty and a bit too warm. To her credit when I asked her to change us to a table upstairs she did so quickly. There were plenty of open tables on the main floor, so I was not sure why she put us down there. The beer was good, had the house Pale Ale and the house IPA, but nothing special. The food was fine, but not spectacular. After seeing a few dishes that we were considered being served to nearby tables, we decided to play it safe and get various burgers. My wife was doing to get the chicken tandoori salad, but the chicken looked too dry and passed. Burgers were fine. Not worth a return trip.
This was not our first time here, it has always been good even on this time, in which service was very slow and the waiter did not even bring the correct change after I paid cash; we where there with a copule visiting from México city and their comment was that they did enjoy the food but service was not as friendly o fast in Canada as it is in Mexico where tips are just 10%. I told them that this was a strange exception but they left today for a cruise with that impression.
Great food, known for their pizzas. Love that they brew their own beers.
Food was really good. When celebrating special occasions would be helpful if the restaurant can try to accommodate special requests, no effort was made which was really disappointing.
Great for watered down drinks and slow service, and just ok food.
Other than the fact that my clothes smelled of fried food for two days, it seemed like a great brewpub. I think the smell may have been a result of our group sitting downstairs not far from the open kitchen, but perhaps a better exhaust system would help. I did not notice the odors when we were there, but I sure did when I got home!
Always a favourite, I met a friend at Steamworks recently for a short visit and dinner after work. It was one of our sunny evenings of late and so we sat on the patio (tucked in near the building). The game was on and so it was busy for a Monday night. Our plate and side orders were mixed up when they arrived, but easily fixed. My companion had a steamworks burger, and I must admit it looked good, and yam fries. The fries would not have enticed me as they were dry and cold. I had a lamb burger and house salad which was delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection and very juicy, the salad full of mixed greens and sweet surprises topped with feta and a light vinaigrette. Overall once again a good experience.
The food is fantastic & the service is both prompt & friendly.
Definitely a great lunch spot.
Very good except it was too loud to even talk to the person you were sitting beside without yelling.
Very good food and service but were seated in the lower level next to the kitchen which was very noisy and busy. Not the atmosphere we were looking for that evening.
We had a very nice lunch here. Our server was very knowledgeable and quick to replace drinks and clear finished plates. We sat downstairs which i thought was a very groovy little area...although it is parking lot out the window there is still a great view of mountains and the port. All in all i would go back here anytime and recommend to friends.
I understand that all requests cannot bet met, but showing up with dates after making a reservation and specifically requesting a window seat, and there being several open tables pissed me off. Your staff at the door in a very clear manner sized up my party, noted that we dress rather shabbily (we are in bands, rock n roll) and put us in a corner. The message was clear: "You do not look like the sort of patrons to which we are accustomed".
I will not be going back, and now you will lose business, as I constantly have guests in town, often guests that perform at large venues on Granville St. I had been searching for a place to bring people who enjoy beer, and the search continues. Poor work.
I LOVED my experience at Steamworks. I was there for my 20th Birthday party with a few friends, and the experience couldn't have been better. The food was fast and hot, the drinks were unique and put together perfectly. Our servers were incredibly helpful and went completely out of their way to make my night perfect. Definitely recommending to as many people as possible, and I will be back very soon
Noisy Vibrant Trendy Bar. Good Beer. Servers very accommodating. Bar Food - very salty. More suited for the younger crowd.
We really LOVED this restaurant. The food and service were excellent on a very busy Saturday evening. While it doesn't look like much from the outside, it is a true gem on the inside. My only complaint is that we were seated near the door and as people arrived, before they were seated, they more or less "invaded" our dining space.
The food was excellent, the service prompt and helpful. However, we were there with young children, and it wasn't as kid-friendly as some other places. It's a small location (which would have been OK if I hadn't been waiting for someone to return from the very distant washrooms), but more than made up for by all the friendly staff.
Great meal - very handy location to gather people together from South Surrey (sky train), North Van (Sea Bus), and downtown. Really enjoyed my halibut and pinot grigio!
Asked for large table for 3 for business lunch. I also asked for a view. I wanted space as it was lunch with an associate I hadn't met. I got the view but not the space. Tough to sit a table for 3. On a previous occassion I sat next to the window view tables where they can group tables together. I saw a table near the stairs and thought to myself, "I never want to sit there". Reason: Too close to the stairs. All wait staff walks by it and it's a small table with no comfortable spot for the 3rd person, let alone a fourth. Well.... that's the table I got for my business lunch! The least spacious, elbow to elbow table available. I would have sacrificed view for size and privacy. Did they not read my request? Was I not clear? Food? Excellent.
Always a great experience at Steamworks, good food and drinks.
Can get very loud, but I do like it during the summer when they open up the outdoor patio
