Service was lousy. Tables seated after us, several, received their food 30 minutes before us. There waiter apologized profusely every five minutes. The manager showed up before we received our appetizers and offered to comp desert. At that point we weren’t thinking about desert. After the appetizer, twenty minutes later, came another five minute delivery notice. At the point we threatened to leave just as the meal showed up with another desert offer!!!
At the end when they realized we were not hanging around for a free desert they quickly brought the bill and decided to comp our drinks. When will they realize that free goodies don’ substitute for good service?
Food, service view all amazing.. would definitely go back and recommend. Crab cakes and oysters were excellent
Sehr gutes Essen. Nicht ganz billig aber Qualität und Lage überzeugen auf ganzer Linie. Super Ausblick. Cocktails waren auch sehr lecker!
Very expensive for mediocre food. Slow service. Never again.
A very good value set 3 course meal. Beautifully cooked.
Good food and great service. Looking over the inner harbour in Victoria while dining is amazing simply can't beat the view.
Eat here for the setting which is great with a lovely view over the Inner Harbour. Food was fine and varied and our server was local, fun and excellent.
Friends reunion. Fantastic experience! Thank you for another wonderful evening. Our server was awesome!
Nothing special here, Service was slow, food and taste so so, ordered Fish and Chips and fish coating was overcooked and hard. Dining tables feel sticky in need of a new refinish coating.
Food was not worth what was paid. Taste and preparation was marginal.
Service was very poor and i will not be recommending it to out of town guests.
My wife and I stopped by for a late dinner last week. The place is beautiful and the food was excellent. The service was a bit slow but thankfully we had an awesome view to distract us from it.
We were very disappointed with our experience at Steamship. When I made the reservation weeks ago, I requested a table on the patio but when we arrived the hostess very rudely told me that they don’t take reservations for the patio but if we wanted to wait over an hour, they could seat us then. We wanted to sit outside as for some reason the inside of the restaurant was sweltering hot.
Our server overall was nice, but forgetful and did not make sure we had what we needed. Three of our party of 5 ordered the Three Course Meal as they specifically wanted the creme brûlée dessert. Our food times and our waitress offer fresh cracked pepper or Parmesan cheese for the two pasta dishes that were ordered nor provided two of our guests with clean silverware when she had taken them away moments befor when she picked up our dirty appetizer plates. So our guests sat for over 5min trying to get the attention of any wait staff, to get clean silverware, only to be ignored. I ended up getting up from our table and walking over to the side station and getting the silverware our guests needed to they could start eating.
When we were through with our meals the server waited forever to clear our dirty plates, and when it came time for the creme brûlée to come out she informed us that they oversold the dessert and she would “try and see if they could substitute something else”...this greatly disappointed our guests as that was the whole reason they ordered the three course meal to begin with. Two of them opted for alternate choices and the third asked for sliced fruit....what she was brought was laughable as it looked like an entire cut up honeydew melon - and nothing else! No blueberries, grapes, strawberries etc - all of which are in season!
For the prices this restaurant charges I expect way more. This was the first - and last time - that any of us will dine at this restaurant again.
Loved our spot on the deck with a great view of the harbor and empress. Steak was great, loved the 3 course option. Great experience.
Great service quick and food was plenty for the price. Fresh tasting too
Great time, great food, great view! Enjoyed my time here celebrating a bday.
we had a terrible table it was so warped we had to find a flat spot to keep our drinks from tipping over. Our waiter was inexperienced or very nervous either way the service was sadly lacking. The food when it arrived was just ok, nothing special. On the whole it wasn't the experience that we were hoping to treat our out of town guests to.
We were a group of 9. Had made a reservation, but was not aware it was on patio. Very cool by end of meal. Food is good, but service extremely slow. Our meal took 4 hrs from beginning to end!
Went to this restaurant hoping for something a little better than the chain restaurants only to find it was nothing more than a tourist trap with mediocre overpriced food and poor service. The calamari was mostly bits left in the deep fryer and the spinach dip was runny with over salted chips. The Halibut and chips included only one small piece of fish with cold fries. Overall a poor experience.
Seated in perfect spot right next to the view of the harbor. Lovely waitress. Took a very long time to be served. Looked like same issue with everyone. Food was excellent. Burgers must be cooked well done so be alert to the rule. Salad really good and fish and chips also.
Server was exceptional. Filet with whiskey crab sauce amazing! And good wines on tap!
The shrimp and crab linguini was delicious!!! The location is awesome and the service was excellent.
Kat was our waitress and she did a superb job of serving us. She had a good command of the menu as well as the wine list. While to food and the wine were great it was the extra touch of class and service form Kat that made the evening special. Of course, the ambience and water view were fantastic.
We enjoyed our food, the drinks options, the service, the ambiance, the view, all in all a very positive experience.
We were their for birthday and informed them of that but there was no acknowledgement from the restaurant
Service was slow. They were out of the halibut at 6:30, an item on the main menu. Also out of one of the wines we ordered. Food we ended up with was marginal.
We had an outdoor table for 2 and beautiful backdrop and heaters helped offset cool breeze
Indoors less appealing noisy and cafeteria like
We came here two days in a row and the food was great. We sat out on the heated balcony and had halibut fish and chips one night and the fresh salmon with potatoes the other. So good!
Really excellent lunch yesterday, 6/29. Wonderful service. I had the grilled cod, and it was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had.
Great food, service and view. Our waiter Phil was outstanding. The doughnuts were spectacular!
Just average food and service. Excellent location, nice waterfront view, that’s it for positives on the one night we tried this place.
The appetizers were underwhelming but the mains more than made up. Fresh halibut fish and chips were terrific, with light batter that didn’t overwhelm the fish. The tuna poke was just as tasty though the addition of cherry tomatoes didn’t seem to fit the taste well. Our guest enjoyed the fish tacos bringing us all to agreement that we would return.
We had the best waitress ever!
Her name is Gabby and she made ya feel special and right at home the whole time!
Hard working but never without a smile and she was so attentive to our needs!
We hope the restaurant appreciates what a great ambassador they have on her!
Thankful that she took care of us!!
We'll be back!

We asked for an outside table with a good view and that’s exactly what we were given. Food and drink and service all perfect. Great ambience and location overlooking Inner Harbour.
Fish tacos we’re good! The coconut milk rice very bland!
My partners Steak and crab goof but the French fries awful! Service was slow and we had to wait 15 minutes for our bill!
After we booked a table for two the weather was nice so we asked if it’s ok to sit on the patio the young lady server was very accommodating and prepared a table outside and then this guy came to take our order and he said his name was Phil not sure was his real name his demeanor on the arrogant side but took our order which was the seafood tower the extras and two glasses of wine...by the way the table was tiny and had a broken leg and we couldn’t balance our wine without holding the table steady..we asked the server if he could fix it or change tables after he asked some young girls to fix it and they couldn’t we change tables ..although the second one had the same problem but a little better than the first one .
After he brought the big tower on that little table we had no space for our plates and the seafood shells the server didn’t show up until half way through asked if everything is ok on the way to another table not having time to say anything ..we had to flag him down for the last course of our dinner when he brought it over I said the table was too small for our dinner ..and with his most arrogant expression he said I didn’t know you were going to order the tower I said but we order it to you and you did know how big it is..you should have told us or do something about it..after that he disappeared and send some other lady servers with our last course and the bill..I am still mad at myself leaving a tip at all but was thinking of the young ladies that were very cordial ..he spoiled our evening..the food was fresh and we enjoyed it ..but for the this awful server..I hope you will forward this to the restaurant because I am sure we are not the only ones who had this kind of service from this guy.
Food was excellent, the service was weak. I watched the servers and hostess chatting often, and often while my table was waiting for service. Food took over an hour from the time I ordered to the time it arrived. Would I go back? Maybe. It wouldn't be my first choice. There are a lot of great places in Vic to get amazing food, with much lower cost and way better service.
Every thing was fantastic ...food, service, and seating
Most excellent value and experience eh.
We checked several near by restaurants for a mid scale dine in experience close to the water. Open table showed time opportunities and much better menu selections and prices than competitors.
Once there, we were served by Amanda, fast and well. Patient for us to decide over better than average menu choices.
We enjoyed wine, beat salad, jalapeño calamari, blackened red snapper, whiskey crab soup, drunken donuts. It just keep coming. Party of three, we decided to share vs stuck with one sample only.
All excellent. Great heaters on deck, right in the water and well wind blocked.
Cool blankets for legs if really cool...but not needed even 10pm and 10-15 Knot winds just a few meters away.
Amanda was the best though. There at a glance, not over bearing and patient. Perfect service. Thanks for a great time and full happy bellies :)
Amazing view, best patio on the harbour! Food was very good. Service was so-so, poor timing of appetizers & mains, a few things missed and arrived very late.
