Was accidentally overcharged but quickly fixed.
Food was awesome. Service was great
Great bartender who was our server. One out of three meals wasn’t great. Overall good experience and recommend to others.
We enjoyed wine and applies as a birthday celebration and, overall, we were very pleased. The disappointment was that wings were not available and the substitute prawn dish was less than interesting. The roasted Brussel sprouts were superb as were the cauliflower “hot wings”. Our server, Josh, was excellent.
The staff were rude and patronizing. There were mice running all over the patio. Food was ok. The view was amazing.
We enjoyed our experience there. Had good service and would go again.
Had a delicious beet salad, friendly staff, nice environment, very enjoyable...
Excellent setting, ambiance, and food. Can’t wait to come back.
Beautiful location and the manager was super friendly. However the waiter was pretty much MIA for the entire meal and while the food was good, it was entirely over priced for what was delivered. Value just wasn't there.
The food wasn't as good as I was expecting. The restaurant had so many vacant seats for a Saturday night when we walked in..was a sign right away not a popular venue.
I put Date Night on the online reservation and thought maybe something special would be done but nothing happened. Not sure what the point of that was?
I had halibut fish and chips. The batter oily and the coslaw mediocre.
Our first visit to this venue. While we found the food delicious, it seemed that no one paid attention to my reservation request, and so I had to explain it to both the gentleman that seated us, as well as our server. There was 3 of us, one of the place settings was missing a fork and i had to ask 3 times over a 30 minute period before it finally came to our table.
Once we got past the initial bumps, we found the meal to be delicious and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
A view seat in the harbor side is the best thing about this restaurant. The food was good, but nothing stood out and I can’t understand why they sprinkled loads of regular black pepper all over the flatbread.
The patio looking out to the harbor and the Fairmont Empress is a wonderful environment to sip on great cocktails and slurping super fresh oysters. The food is excellent, service great. Highly recommend.
Lovely room and excellent location (one of the top patios in Victoria, and window seats inside also have a great view). Food was pricey for standard quality - you really pay just for the setting, but that is pretty great. Service was casual but competent.
The food was INCREDIBLE! Will definitely be going back, soon.
The Grill was very busy and noisy with large groups having fun.
We were taken to our table 1/2 hour after reservation time, they sat us at the bar first. Reservation time 7:30 pm on Friday Sept 20, 2019. Kitchen got behind, it added to extra time waiting for food.
None the less, we enjoyed our server and food. It turned out to be a pretty good evening, considering we were celebrating a double birthday.
This restaurant offers a superb patio setting, with a panoramic view of the harbour and all its fascinating activity. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and professional.
GREAT FOOD! Wonderful view of Victoria Harbour activities. Good service. Will go again when ever we have a chance.
Excellent service which really makes the entire experience wonderful. We will be back again for sure.
We found the halibut overdone. They were understaffed and the bathrooms were not clean.
Always a delight to invite guests to the Steamship Grill! It just never disappoints!
Dinner on a Saturday night, outside with heaters to take away the chill, aa great view of the harbor, Gabby as the knowledgeable, friendly wait person, 3 piece combo playing soft background music, food prepared just right - it doesnt get any better than that!!+
I found the
Menu to be very
Limited and the fish tacos were not very flavourful. The staff were very nice.
I made a reservation but couldn’t request outdoor seating until we arrived at the restaurant. I feel if I make a reservation I should be given the option to reserve an outdoor table at the same time. The best seating is outside and I will not make another booking unless I am guaranteed an outdoor table when I make the reservation.
The food itself was delicious but they had to have the absolute slowest service. It's worth going If you have two and a half hours for dinner. I also mention we were a very small party of 3.
We arrived for a 730pm reservation and were told the empty tables we could see in the restaurant weren’t available to us because they had no servers available. We waited for 20 minutes and eventually asked to be seated at a table in the lounge. But we needed to bus the table so we could sit there. Lol. The man working at the front and seating guests was out of his element and not competent.
Clearly this place is very understaffed and poorly managed. Too bad since it is such a great location. We are local so we will check to see if the reviews improve and maybe try again after the peak tourist season is over...
Salmon was Overcooked and salty. Few vegan options at dinner
Perfect place for a romantic evening
For location this gets 5 stars. We were seated out on the patio and had a fabulous view of the inner harbour, water traffic and pickle boats - tough to beat! It was also quiet and easy to chat, interrupted only by the brief blast of the Coho's ferry as it left dock (made us laugh after we almost jumped out of our skin). Service however was another story. It took forever for them to take our order (we were only a party of 3). When we did order, one of our party commented on how hungry she was, but it still took what felt like an eternity for the food to arrive. The order was not complicated - a couple of appies and fish tacos. Other diners who arrived well after us had their food well before us. The food itself was fair to good, nothing wrong with it, but also didn't wow us, though we could be biased from the lack of service. Wait staff was very pleasant, just not at all attentive. It took 2-2.5 hours for our meal and that was without dessert or tea/coffee which I didn't dare order or I might be there for sunrise, lol.
My grilled salmon was a bit dry but tasty. My friend's mussels made her violently ill a few hours later.
All around a great place - view, service and creative and delicious food. Definitely recommend.
Nice location. Limited menu.
Since dining at the SG&B on Wednesday evening we have already recommended it to two sets of people. We loved sitting outside though the tables were a little close together so we could hear quite distinctly the conversation at the next table, the view was unsurpassed and seeing boats, planes, ferries, people milling about and enjoying a summer's evening was wonderful. The service was exceptional. Our young waitress was lovely and immediately offered us a complementary dessert when we mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. Lovely evening. Thanks you. We would go again in winter to see if the inside experience is as enjoyable.
Appetizers arrived in about 30 minutes, But, our main course took over 2 hours to arrive. Either waiter or kitchen forgot to do our order.
Food was excellent! But, 3 hours at the restaurant was way to long!
Harvest bowl with lemon shrimp was amazing. Fish tacos little too spicy but beautiful presentation. Fun food choices. View amazing!!! Service great!!
We had an amazing dinner here - fantastic food and service. Couldn’t be a better spot in the harbour for views and ambience - even had a trio playing jazz for the evening. Brought our three kids and they had excellent kids meal choices for a reasonable price. Five stars
Great service and views. You can't beat the inner harbor scenes. Food was OK.
The nice meal overall was ruined by a condescending waiter. The busboy however was fantastic and courteous and the food was great. Patio was beautiful and was a treat for our out-of-town guests. I am leery of recommending this place just due to the wait staff.
Food was good but not amazing, high priced for size portion, service was very good and the view is great, would go again but maybe not for a super fancy dinner
Waited a few minutes for the perfect table on the deck. View of the inner harbour and very light breeze made it perfect. Service was cheerful and quick. Beet salad with chicken and seafood linguini hit the spot.
Food was good but service was not. We waited 30 minutes to get noticed after being seated. Asked for assistance and it was still slow and not important to the staff to make our dining experience any better. The view and food was good but won’t go back.
