About Permanently Closed - Steamers of Pismo
This restaurant is permanently closed.
Steamers of Pismo is a seafood restaurant in Pismo Beach, California. The atmosphere inside is casual and family friendly. Light colors, high ceilings and mounted blue marlin fish all contribute to the pleasant vibe of the place. From many of the seats in the dining room, guests are able to enjoy a fantastic breach front view of the ocean and the nearby pier.
Cuisine at Steamers of Pismo is fresh and simplistic. Popular dishes include the clam chowder, seafood pasta, fish & chips and the grilled salmon. Because of the seaside views, a meal and a glass of fine wine are even sweeter at Steam of Pismo at around sunset, when guests can watch the splendid scene from the windows.

Steamers of Pismo - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Why is open table saying this restaurant is permanently closed? It's my understanding that it's being remodeled and reopened under new management sometime in late August. If my understanding is correct you are doing a disservice to this business. I would appreciate your response.
Went for Mother's Day Brunch only to find out there was an error on their website and there was no brunch. Ended up having lunch instead. It was good but the reason we has gone in the first place was because of the brunch. Seems like an error that should have been fixed....Disappointing.
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Steamers was recommended. The ability to reserve online was wonderful, as I did so while I was on the beach with my wife. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were immediately greeted and were sitting in our booth within moments. We had an amazing view in the booth of the shore line. Our drinks arrived promptly along with our appetizer. My diner, the fish and chips was perfect. It was in fact the best fish and chips I have ever eaten, and I have been visiting Pismo/Avila for over 20 years. My wife's steak was quite cooked correctly in the center, but the edges were ideal. I thus gave my food 5/5 stars and hers 3/5 stars for an average of 4. I got a chocolate martini (can't remember the name) and wasn't very pleased with it. It felt too strong and over powered with alcohol. Overall I was very pleased and I hope to return again. I will likely get the same meal again, but I may be hard pressed to convience my wife due to her less than optimal experience :(
Besides the food being incredible the highlight of the evening was when my friend asked if there was anyway to know what was in the salad dressing because she loved it so much!
Next thing we know Candace, the chef is sitting down at the table with us. She wrote down how to make it and explained in detail to us how to cook to reduce the wine and vinegar.
Okay I said with a view but it was a cloudy, rainy evening in early Spring. The ocean was right there though. Service was friendly and helpful. Good beer, wine, and cocktail list. Seafood choices were excellent. Our choices were the cioppino and sword fish both were very good. When visiting Pismo Beach Steamers is recommended.
This was our first meal at Steamers and it was excellent across the board with a magnificent view. Unfortunately, as our server informed us, the restaurant is in the process of being sold to another restaurant group and the excellent staff will find themselves out of work.
The main attraction for Steamers is the view of the beach and the Pacific Ocean from the dining room. Every seat is a view seat and we had the good fortune to be seated shortly before sunset on the evening of a beautiful sunset. We were seated promptly upon arrival and our waiter (Bob) was ever attendant throughout the evening. Our dinners of Halibut fish and chips, seared Ahi and a side order of lobster mac and cheese were well prepared and the mac and cheese was the star of the evening.
The service was a little slow but friendly. Gorgeous view of the sunset over the ocean. A popular item on weekends is their seafood fondue which is shredded crab and shrimp in a gooey, cheesy sauce in a toasty sourdough bread bowl. Delicious although not particularly inventive. We had the swordfish and mahi mahi. The caper sauce is fine but the blood orange ipa sauce was fantastic. Green beans were crisp and tasty. My boyfriend ordered lobster mac and cheese which was very rich, especially after eating the fondue. He loved it. Lobster mac and cheese is never my favorite.
Pismo Beach is a laid back town and Steamers is their upscale restaurant. The view is worth it alone but the food is well done.
Great place to dine and watch the sun set indoors. The clam chowder is very tasty, it's not gravy thick like so many serve, it's a nice consistency. The clams and linguini is delicious! The wine broth is light but full of flavor and filled with clams. The tuna was seared perfectly rare and paired very well with the mango salsa. For sides we chose the spinach and the wild mushrooms. Huge bowl of hearty mushrooms, more than we could eat. The baby spinach was wonderful, we wish the portion had been larger.
It is not the Steamer's of the past. The table clothes are gone it's like eating at a diner. The soup was cold. The Halibut was dry and overcooked and the rolls were like the came from the grocery store and were warmed in the oven. The fried shrimp and french fries were good but you can get that anywhere. The Australian lobster tails are no longer on the menu. I think I was just not happy with the downturn for a favorite of the past. My wife and I have been going for 20 years and It just doesn't have the same feel. Maybe that's why so few people were there on a Saturday night.
Reservations were at 5, seated right away with an awesome window view of the beach & ocean. Even witnessed a beach wedding from afar. Sunset was gorgeous. Food was delicious. From crab cakes & artichoke brushetta as appetizers to Crab feed special, filet mignon, swordfish and Ahi Tuna - everyone enjoyed! Had the mixed vodka tini's Pomegranitini and rum tini (forgot name but was it ever smooth!) Didn't enjoy the cucumber vodka drink so much. We will definitely be back to this great place for views, food and drinks!
I have previously taken my girlfriend to steamers of Pismo for our first date. That day was fantastic. The food was great. The scenery was great. The ambiance and the service were all great. Valentine's Day was the second time I took my girlfriend to steamers of pismo. I made a reservation prior to going. When we arrived we were told that we would only be seated in the lounge area. I saw there were several open tables in the main restaurant area. We were at the restaurant for approximately an hour and a half and the main restaurant tables never filled. The filet mignon was tough and overcooked. The lobster tail was also overcooked. The potatoes were very bland and dry. My girlfriend and I were both very disappointed in the food especially since I paid $200 for the meal. Our company was the best part of our experience there on Valentine's Day. We could have had a better meal eating pizza and drinking beer. Steamers of Pismo is a hit and miss at best.
We had a lovely corner table with a view to the ocean as well as the restaurant. Our server was very warm and friendly. We had planned to have the scampi as offered on their website menu, but we were told it wasn't available and they were offering a 6 Oz filet each and an 8 Oz lobster tail to share along with great beans, mashed potatoes and soup or salad and dessert as part of their $100 "Valentines Day" special for 2. For an extra $20 you could add a bottle of house wine. The meal was delicious and I did enjoy the surf and turf. We were so full, we had the dessert boxed to go and they were totally accommodating. Nice evening.
We used to go there for the view, but the food was at best fair. Within the last year or so the place has done a complete turn around. The view and service is still great, but the food has improved to the point that we would go there view or no view. We live three hours away and can't get there as often as we would like, but always enjoy dining at Steamers when we visit the Pismo area.
Steamers is amazing! The food is delicious. The restaurant is nice and comfortable. And the service is spot on. My kids got to enjoy all their favorite seafood. The crab legs are even Cut down the middle so they could eat it on their own and we didn't have to crack it for them. Score! My husband enjoyed The Chiopino He says it's the best he's ever had. For a starter we had the seafood fondue. Let's just say our family can't wait to have that again! The view is amazing even at night time. And our server Was Super Attentive to us and everyone around her. This place is worth the wait but I suggest always to make A reservation. And for those of you who like a drink or two get the flight of wine or beer. They are both delicious and fun.
I like it because I'm a Seafood lover. The ocean view (which Jockos does not have) is excellent!
The bar has a nice atmosphere and the food is well prepared. I have sat in the bar at stinky-Jocks and drank because they never have the food ready. Had to have someone drive me home.
The service at Steamers is excellent! The atmosphere is comfortable. We celebrated my birthday there. I have been more than once and look forward to returning!!
Steamers exceeded our expectations. The reviews ran hot and cold however we arrived at 5:30 pm...ahead of the crowd. The scenic view was awesome, the Corvina Sea Bass was grilled to perfection, the veggies were crisp and steaming hot and the wine list offered many choices from the Paso Robles vineyards. Service was great however I can see that on a very busy night it can be very loud and hectic as it accommodates larger groups to include families.
