There is parking underneath the restaurant and across the street. All of which is Old Town parking. Public parking behind the restaurant. And, Public parking on streets and down the center of town, Underground and street level parking.

Never disappoints. Great fresh fish, the house salad and clam chowder are amazing. Beautiful bar with great ambiance. Greg, the manager is very welcoming and makes you feel as if you are family. Attentive servers who are always willing to please. Their sour dough bread is amazing. Our grandson loves the steak and they do a terrific preparation......if you get the french fries as well......you have a perfect meal served in a wonderful fish restaurant. There is something for everyone.
We decided to split a Salad which we ‘be done before since with entrees desert and after diner drinks, it is all too much to eat. Very disappointed to the point that it took away from the rest of the dinner. They charged us an extra $2 for splitting and the split salad barely covered the bottom of the salad plates. Don’ t think the unsplit salad was worth the $12 anyway. Waitress should have told us it wasn’t worth splitting to began with.
Arrived very late for lunch and were the last to leave. However, we were greeted nicely and were made welcome. Our server was gracious, skilled and never hurried us, although she could have due to our lateness. Our meals, as we expected from many previous visits, were excellent. We shall certainly return soon -- with a better eye on our clock!
We don't live in California, but we come to Silicon Valley once or twice a year for conferences, and we always make a point to come to Steamer's Grillhouse for their brilliant Prawn BLT. I think it's the best sandwich ever. I'm not exaggerating. Best with a nice glass of Chablis, but also great with iced tea (thank you, thank you, thank you, Steamer's Grillhouse for making iced tea that is just black tea, and not with some fruit flavor added!).
Their fries are good, but this trip I substituted a small Caesar salad for the fries, and the salad was outstanding: great dressing on astonishingly good romaine. I can't buy romaine that is anywhere near that fresh in Texas, and it was a revelation.
Appreciated most of all, the moderate noise level for a Sunday night (partially chosen because we hoped the noise level would be moderate!)
Next in appreciation was that my dinner selection - the special pasta of the night - was the very best linguine vongole I've ever had! The broth was so good I was collecting every last drop with the spoon that came along with the dinner after all else was gone. Our friends really liked their entrees as well!
Steamers was very busy the Friday night we were there. The bar area could use a stand-up area, but turnover of the chairs in the bar area was quick enough that we weren't "out of place" for too long. The bartender and waitstaff were prompt and our cocktails were great. Noise levels were not out of the norm for a restaurant of its type. Dinner was very good, and our waiter was attentive and prompt. We do like it better for brunch, but maybe that's because it wasn't quite as crowded on late Sunday morning than on Friday evening. We'll be back!
We had a special event with two people in their twenties and two of us in their 50's - 60's. the food and the experience worked for all of us. The wait staff was friendly and timely, the food was well prepared and the atmosphere was conducive to good conversation.
My favorite local restaurant for many years when you consider food, ambience, comfort, service, and price. (Nick's, for example, has better food, and charges for it, but it's terribly noisy and the tables are just way too close together.) Now we're retired and go to Steamer's bar about once a week around 4pm when it's fairly quiet and the underground garage has plenty of parking. Usually order a glass of wine and a bowl of chowder. I've tried a LOT of clam chowder, and Steamer's has the best--thickened a bit, with plenty of clams--served with Acme sourdough. The cheeseburger & fries are excellent. The fish tacos and quesadilla are also among my favorites on the bar menu. Not the best I've ever had, but still good. The service is friendly and usually pretty efficient for a bar. Above all, I enjoy the nice but casual, comfortable atmosphere with lots of windows looking out at Old Town and the mountains. If we're doing dinner in the dining room, I have the pasta with shrimp in a creamy sauce. Yummy, but I wish it had more fish. For a recent lunch I ordered the special: ham and gruyere quiche, which was excellent and generous and came with a large side salad of baby greens--a bargain at $16. On the other hand, the shrimp louie was a disappointment; not much to it. Bottom line, all things considered, Steamer's is a lovely, fun Los Gatos hangout.
Steamers seems to have run out of steam... A mainstay of Los Gatos, this restaurant seems to be riding on a reputation of yesteryear. Service was horrid, with a waiter who liked to remind us he has been there for 10 years, yet he had no clue how the food was prepared, and with erratic service (never came to offer a second drink), a bus boy who would come by every 10 minutes even though our plates were still full yet our water glasses would go empty, and who would press his body against our heads to serve us and try to clear the table... And the food, well. I had the Brazilian stew and it was so salty I could barely eat it, and the fish was mealy. Ended up being sick to my stomach and took me two days to recover. Perhaps they had the B team that night. Overpriced and not fit for foodies.
I have been to Steamers many times and go back because I really like it. I have always had wonderfully cooked fish. My lunch choice was not at all tasty to me, a grilled cheese sandwich. I was not ready for smoked cheese and the taste did not suite me. I really disliked it and had only a couple of bites. My friend liked it a lot. The steak salad my second friend had was the real winner.
The restaurant appeared to be traditional but clean and elegant. The decor was simple. The service was friendly and efficient. Our food was very good - but over priced. I don't think $26 for an ahi tuna salad is reasonable, especially when there is only a small amount of tuna, lots of lettuce and a tiny dab of dressing. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. If money is no object, I might return.
It was a pleasure to enjoy our anniversary at Steamer's, sitting outside on a perfect evening. The menu selection was great, our servers were wonderful with their suggestions and attentive service. We enjoyed the Pistachio Crusted Salmon as well as the Organic Salmon, after starting off with wine, an appetizer special of the day and cups of clam chowder. We'll be back!
