Steakhouse 85 Ratings and Reviews
Always a great experience. The food is great and they do not skimp on the portions. It's not cheap but if you're looking for a top tier steakhouse and don't want to travel to NYC (or pay NYC prices), then this is the place to go. The staff is always very knowledgeable and they have great specials, like the $99 dinner for two on Mondays and Fridays or half-off bottles of wine on Sundays. Their steaks are always cooked perfectly. I like them so much I've yet to try anything else after half a dozen visits. My wife and I use this as our go-to special occasion venue. Highly recommended.
Bacon appetizer was simply amazing. Words can't describe it. Our entrees were delicious, as well. You get what you pay for here. The only downside to the dining experience was that the live music was quite loud, and it made it difficult to have a conversation across the table. We will definitely go back, but on a night they don't have music.
One of the best overall dinners I have had. Our waiter was very knowledgeable. He was able to explain all of the ingredients in one of the meals without having to check with kitchen which is saying something. He also had a very good voice while singing happy birthday. 😁
Now onto the food...the steaks were all perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Can’t beat the truffle tater tots for a side. Also some of the best oysters around.
The place is not cheap but it was an amazing experience all around.
Steaks were cooked perfectly. Staff kept trying to remove appetizers while guests were still eating. Also when made request to pack items to take home, staff handed over empty take home containers for guests to self pack their meal. Didn't expect this type of service.
If I was going to be regarded as a regular any place, it would be Steakhouse 85. I do business lunches there, and sometimes chill at the bar at the end of my day. This was my first "holiday" there and it was all that. The atmosphere was festive and the food was once again excellent. It was billed as a limited menu for New Year's Eve, but it was pretty extensive. Well done, Matty, well done.
Our favorite steakhouse!!! The seafood is also amazing. We’ve hosted private parties, and it’s our go-to place for special occasions. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Strongly recommend making a reservation for weekend / holiday dinners. Overall, SH85 has our highest recommendations!
We went to Steakhouse 85 for Xmas Eve dinner. The service & the food were excellent. The French onion soup was the best I've ever had. The filet mignon was divine, and the side dishes were generous and prepared with care. The wine was good, and the servers went out of their way to making our dining experience a special one.
The restaurant had updated decor and excellent waitstaff. Had the Cedar salad and house salad. Followed by Porterhouse, Sirloin and Roasted Chicken with sautéed mushrooms and sautéed spinach as sides. Portions were good. Have definitely had better, Porterhouse could've used a deeper sear. Taste was ok. Overall, not bad for New Jersey.
I went with two other friends for our annual holiday steak dinner. We usually do the steakhouses in New York City, but this year (2017) we kept it local. Steakhouse 85 more than holds its own to the NYC steak eateries. My porterhouse was well done, pre-sliced and tender, and the sides were very tasty as well. My friends were also impressed with the food. Our server was attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of. A nice touch was when either the owner or manager (not sure which) came over to wish us all happy holidays. A great idea that I hope catches on at other restaurants is the illuminated menu. Yes, it was a menu that lights up when opened; comes in very handy for those of us who are "visually challenged," lol! Finally, I liked that even for a Saturday night and with a large party seated at the table next to us, it was a relatively quiet atmosphere. Will definitely come again.
