Official Steakhouse of Rutgers Athletics
Good, basic steakhouse. Great service.
Very impressed with the whole experience. We loved the food, service was great and restaurant over all was very nice. Our server Angelina was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of helpful tips.
Food was good. Got the DelMonico steak, tomahawk style which was delicious. Wife got the crab stuffed shrimp was was great too. We ordered calamari which was a little spongy, not the best I've had, but still not much to complain about here.
Halfway through dinner, the owner/manager came by and patted me on the shoulder and asked me how everything was, and referred to me by name, which was a nice touch, especially with it being such a big restaurant.
Would recommend to others.
Awesome waiter & great food!
2nd time dining here while visiting my daughter at Rutgers. Excellent steaks, wine and service. Place is spotless. We shared the porterhouse 3 ways and it was perfect! I’m glad she’s only a sophomore, can’t wait to return
Food and service were both outstanding. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Love this restaurant!
We had the best table in the house...tucked away in the corner...so cozy. We were pleasantly surprised with the live music. The staff was very attentive to us all evening. The food was amazing!
The food is very good and service is excellent. It was busy so it took a bit of time for the food to come out.
Obviously, we were there for the steak, but also fell in love with the Mapple Bacon for appetizer!!! It was so good, we placed a to-go order since there would NOT be any left for the “Doggy Bag”. My husband had the Delmonio and I had the Ribeye; both “oh-so-tender”....Definitely aged to perfection.! Already planning another date night at Steakhouse 85!!!
Amazing experience as usual!!
Went on Valentine’s Day and it was busy. Maybe that’s why the service was slow. Food was excellent and cocktails were good to. Server was nice just disappeared a few times.
Closest parking options are on the street, across the street in a deck, or down the street at the Hyatt deck. We were greeted warmly by the proprietor. They offer to check your coat, but I usually don’t check my coat anywhere.
It’s a warm but dimly lit space, lots of tables & booths. Nice size bar with TVs. I noticed they have a back room for private events.
Menu has a back light, you can clearly read it & wont need a flashlight. Waiter was pleasant & described the specials of the night.
We ordered butternut squash soup (delicious), applewood smoked bacon (sweet & fatty, but I love it!), cowboy ribeye (my fav cut) with a side of house steak sauce, crab stuffed shrimp (wonderful sauce & good portion), & sides of mushrooms (best side), truffle tots (very crispy).
Service was attentive & friendly. We were so stuffed we did not order dessert. Steakhouse 85 is our favorite steakhouse in the area. You get quality food & service at a good price when we compare it to other area steakhouses.
Very good meat. Good service. One of the best steak houses in the area.
Too expensive food wasn’t good for that money. 185 for me my husband and my daughter. Sorry
Dined here again for business dinner- food, as usual was delicious. Service leaves much to be desired. Servers are not very attentive once orders are taken and after food is served.
Great service and food
The food was out of this world! I was disappointed in the way other patrons were dressed.
Great place to eat. The people are very polite and the ambiance is great.
There was a really loud table with people cursing out loud several times which made other guests turn around too. My steak was actually fatty so I was disappointed about that, who wants to pay $50 for mostly fat? Other than that the service was great and we had an overall good experience. Not sure if I’ll go back since I like other steakhouses better. People don’t really dress up at this one and I wish it was more upscale since the prices sure are.
Had a very great experience here. Perfect place for a date.
A great restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday and Matty, the owner, made my daughter feel special on her day.
Excellent, truly a treat
First time dining at Steakhouse 85. At 8pm the restaurant was still very lively and vibrant. Got seated right away and had a very nice spacious table for the 4 of us. Service was prompt and waiter was helpful when choosing our entrees. 2 Appetizers were enough for 4 people, crab cakes and a shrimp dish. Entrees ordered were Tuna, Black Ink Linquini with crab, Scallops and Pasta Bolognase. Pasta was all fresh. Meals came out hot. We were never felt rushed to finish. Would dine here again.
Kevin was our service! Very good at his job has definitely been there for a while (: would highly recommend
Excellent food and service. A little pricey, meal could have one side included.
The restaurant and food were excellent but the service was unacceptable. It was my husbands retirement dinner with only 4 of us at the table . I don’t know if our waiter had too many tables to serve, which in a restaurant like this, shouldn’t happen, he actually did tell us he was quite busy. First he disappeared for 10 minutes and then sent over another sever to take our order and she was wonderful. We had to ask several times throughout the night for things he didn’t bring. Asked several times for drink refills from the bar which took at least twice before we got them. Asked for our leftovers in a to go container which we never got and at this point didn’t feel like asking. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble and usual don’t write reviews but this really bothered me and the bill wasn’t inexpensive!
be sure to know the surrounding parking areas, as street parking is very hard to find in New Brunswick
One of my favorite places for Friday night. Seated 30 minutes past reservation time though.
Steakhouse 85 has perfected the dining experience, from greeting through departure. Despite the restaurant being at full capacity, service was flawless (thank you Christian) and food delicious as always. Nice to have something so solid in close proximity.
Nice night of food and drinks
Would not return only thing that was good was the service and when I got my check to end the night ordered the tomahawk it was a plate of fat apps were a disappointment I have had better stack at Applebee’s do not waste your money
The food and drinks are wonderful every time we come here!! One of our favorite restaurants! Highly recommend
Food was good. Meat was excellent but sides mediocre. $25 wine list appreciated. Service was very prompt but not dignified. Biggest issue is the price of the meat.
We had a fabulous birthday dinner. Great food, service and ambiance.
Went for Date night and it was absolutely wonderful!!!
Our dinner was delicious and our waiter was right own. Our food came out rather fast and he was on the mark with pouring wine, clearing dishes, and delivering food. A+ experience! Karen (the owner's daughter) is a doll, too. She always makes everyone feel like family.
Service was very good not over the top just right. Steaks were just ok. Not cooked as ordered.
The food was amazing. We will be returning with friends and family
Birthday for my husband . Food was amazing , staff amazing great night
Not worth the money. Overpriced steak, dry side dishes, over cooked lobster. This place is way too inconsistent.
