Steak House No. 316 Ratings and Reviews
OUTSTANDING RESTAURANT. GREAT FOOD, PROFESSIONAL, RESPONSIVE SERVICE, FRIENDLY STAFF, BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT. WE HAVE EATEN HERE NUMEROUS TIMES, AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING OTHER THAN A WONDERFUL EVENING. GREAT WINE LIST. WE ALWAYS HAVE AT LEAST ONE DINNER HERE WHEN WE ARE IN TOWN, WHICH IS OFTEN. ONE OF THE BEST STEAK HOUSES IN THE COUNTRY , AND CERTAINLY THE BEST IN THE MOUNTAINS.
We came in late and the service was impeccable. Everyone who served on us from the host, waiter, somm and busser were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food was fantastic, bone-in tenderloin, mashed potatoes, crab corn chowder, Caesar salad and oysters - everything was tasty. The wine list is extensive and the somm is very helpful at navigating it. Overall a 10/10!
I decided to splurge and treat my fiancée to a nice meal while we were in Aspen for the night. I booked a reservation a couple of days ahead and anticipated greatness. We were not disappointed! We were greeted with an open door and were shown to our table immediately. Our waiter was top notch, offering the specialties and explaining things we had questions about.
We ordered crab cakes to start and they were wonderful. Seared just enough to hold them together yet still soft and flaky. We then decided to have steak, of course, my fiancée choosing the American 'Kobe' Flat Iron with a mushroom demi sauce and I the Prime Filet with truffle butter. Sides were loaded twice baked potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The steaks were incredible, best we've had anywhere. Not only were they cooked perfectly inside with a great sear outside, they were seasoned with a very nice rub. My fiancée remarked that my filet didn't require any work with the knife, simply sit it atop the steak and it fell through. Well, it wasn't quite *that* easy, but it was like slicing cool butter. Her flat iron was a tad tougher, but so moist and flavorful. The sauces were both wonderful. I wish I could buy that truffle butter by the pound. We didn't care for the Brussels sprouts as they were a bit vinegary, but those twice baked potatoes... my goodness, were they delicious. I enjoyed a very tasty Manhattan as well.
We were never at all rushed, but our service was prompt. We received our cheque and $210 later we were out the door with a nice farewell and our hunger more than satisfied. We will definitely be back!
Consistently the best steak- yes better than Peter Luger in Brooklyn, better than LaFiorentina in Rome, better than home grilling. The sommelier was great- suggested a fine Rhone which was not over the top in cost. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. Just an elegant restaurant without all the pretentious & stuffiness. We make 316 our first stop when we arrive in Aspen.
We dined at Steak House 316 while we were in Aspen to celebrate my husbands 40th Birthday. It was top notch food, wine list and atmosphere and we enjoyed every bite. As some reviews say the cost is on the higher end, but it was worth it for the quality, and also your in Aspen so that is to be expected. I think the steak was quite possibly one of my most favorite prepared that I have ever had. I think we got way too much food though as the sides were large portion and we ended up splitting between the table.
In our two days in Aspen we ate there twice. I had the fillet one night and the new york the other. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and in no way "require" sauces. The lighting and quietness of the place was fantastic!
I would certainly visit again when I am in Aspen.
Everything was amazing!! From the greeting to the salutation....well done! Andre was pleasant but not intrusive. The Host (Maitre D) invited us as though we were in his home and later in the meal assisted in table service....a true professional. The steaks were prepared perfectly and that is our biggest compliment as we are from KC (GO CHIEFS!!) and a perfect steak is hard to find away from home. The bartender sent out two gin cocktails to start the evening on a great note. A nice cremant rose' and some oysters before our steaks was enough to fill us up but then Andre brought the dessert list and we just couldn't help ourselves! Needless to say, the end of the meal was as enjoyable as the start. Top notch service-Thank you Andre-and a very welcoming environment that compliments the chefs food.
First I have to say that the steaks are excellent there. But other than steaks, there were too many misses for a good rating. The tables are squished together way too close. Tables for 2 are literally a foot apart from neighboring tables, so anyone entering the neighboring table requires acrobatics or even moving tables. Our server swapped our wine orders. That should never happen. I had an immediate suspicion when I tasted the wine. It was confirmed, because I didn't like one of them and asked for it to be replaced (which, BTW was done at no charge, that's a plus). We ordered roasted wild mushrooms and french fries with the steak. The mushrooms were not very wild (mostly shitake) and not roasted, but sauteed. Half of the fries were soft and soggy. We also had a clam chowder soup (not much flavor and sandy) and a cucumber avocado cold soup (good). I had higher expectations for this place.
Outstanding service (multiple persons looking out and responding to everything). Delicious food - we actually split the daily steak special and still walked away with a doggy bag. Great people watching from the comfortable outdoor dining area on one of Aspen's main streets. We will be back.
