Come here quite frequently and usually have a good experience, however this particular time wasn’t too pleasant. Our food didn’t taste good at all. Steak had a bad iron taste, sides weren’t good and to top it off, the new valet at the W hotel is absolutely horrible. No lie, waited 40 minutes to get my car after dinner. They told me they would make it up to me, but I’ve never heard from them since. I know that’s not the restaurants fault, but felt like that needed to be said in this review since you basically have to valet to eat at this restaurant.
Whenever we’re in Fort Lauderdale Steak 954 was a MUST place to eat. Sadly, this time we were disappointed for a few reason. First, they didn’t have the Cuban Breakfast sandwich, total let down after riding 5 miles on our bike to have it. The oven was broke that is used to cook it. Secondly, the service is ok at BEST and always has been, but we like the food so we persevere. Lastly 70$ for breakfast is OUTRAGEOUS!!!! Their the reason we don’t stay at that end of the beach anymore. Overpriced and mediocre service seems to be the norm is Florida. We most likely won’t be back after this experience.
I frequent steak 954 often for dinner. This particular visit we went for lunch on a Saturday. To say it was sub-par is an understatement. There was a piece of moldy bread next to the table that was not picked up the entire meal. My sandwich consisted of half stale bread and an egg, I’m not sure where the rest of the Cuban sandwich was. I was very disappointed with the food quality and slow service as I’m used to top notch quality and service at dinner time from this restaurant. I always say it’s the best in Fort Lauderdale bug I’m not sure I’ll be making this statement anytime soon.
I and a friend had our Thanksgiving meal here. Everything was very good except for the prices. This place was very very expensive. The meal with a salad, dessert, taxes and tip was $244.00 for TWO people. We chose Steak 954 because it was open on Thanksgiving with a special holiday menu and the place was close to the resort we were staying at -- just a five minute walk away. Even though it was pricey we would return to this place for a meal again.
Our waitress Stephanie is excellent. We alway go to Steak 954 for our birthday and anniversary and food always good. But tonight Stephanie made our dinner experience even more spectacular. She is so knowledgeable about the menu. If she didn’t recommend, I will order my usual beef short ribs. But I tried the miso black cod tonight and that is the best piece of fish I have ever eaten. And that red velvet cup cake they gave us for our anniversary are so pretty and delicious. We will for sure come back again.
Lots of problems at this expensive steakhouse. Hard to believe it's the same owners as Le Coucou in New York. It took us 10 minutes to be seated despite being greeted quickly and there being only one other party in the restaurant at 5:30 pm. We were told to wait by the jellyfish tank and someone would seat us and then promptly forgotten about. Once we were seated our server greeted us promptly. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and never there when we needed him. We were quickly served a cheese popover with a disc of wonderful soft butter topped with sea salt. The popover was the best bread course I've ever had in a restaurant. Unfortunately it was more or less downhill from there. Our scallop appetizer was beautifully seared but wasn't warm when it arrived at the table. The bacon vinaigrette sauce was tasty but ill-suited for the delicate protein. The crab cake appetizer was bready and worthy of a cruise ship. It was slathered with green apple slices in a mayonnaise sauce to presumably disguise the lack of crab flavor. The bone-in New York strip was perfectly cooked, tender, and well-seasoned with salt. (Which is is a good thing because there was no salt or pepper at the table.) However, it lacked the caramelized sear I expected of an oven billed as "1700 degrees." Still: great steak. The butter-poached lobster was served out of the shell on a splendid lemon risotto. Unfortunately, while the claws were tender the large lobster tail was tough and stringy. We would have sent it back if the waiter had appeared but he was MIA. We ordered four sides, more than we needed, to try: the stuffed hash browns, a huge disc of hash browns encases around more potato. Perfectly seasoned. But they forgot the salt altogether on the other three sides which ruined them: bland creamed spinach, bland macaroni and cheese, and oddly flavored mixed mushrooms and onions. No one was around to ask for salt so we left them untouched.
The food was outstanding - LOVED the Yorkshire Pudding as bread rolls!
The steaks were very good quality and perfectly prepared. Wine list had lots of options for all tastes and budgets. Staff were very knowledgeable about wines, food, specials etc.
Only complaint? Far too loud - very difficult to have a conversation.
