Steak 954 at the W Fort Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
We went here recently to celebrate my 30th and baby moon! Our waiter, Enrique, was 5 star service. I noticed he had a lot of tables, but that did NOT stop him from checking on every table. My husband and I were so impressed how knowledgeable of the menu he was! Our “first course” were pop overs... MY FAV! They tasted exactly like the ones we make at home. Our “second course” was the crab cake and French onion soup. First of all... that was hands down the BEST French onion soup I’ve ever had. I loved the amount of cheese and the onions weren’t soggy at all, cooked to perfection. That crab cake was out of this world. It was packed full of crab, light on the filling, and Enrique suggested we taste everything at once and omg explosion in your mouth. Who would have thought to eat apple with crab cakes?! And that lemon sauce was to die for.. my husband ordered the cheesesteak (which he said it was the best ever!) and I hesitatingly ordered the American wagyu skirt steak. I told Enrique if was sinful for me to eat steak more than medium rare, and I asked it to be cooked to final temp of 160...Ummm.. compliments to the chef for a) cooking the steak TO PERFECTION without losing ANY flavor and b) for even cooking meat to that degree. I’m 6 months pregnant and I love steak so I greatly appreciate you doing that!!!! The steak was the best I’ve ever had. I cannot wait to come back next year not pregnant and REALLY eat the steak. The flavor and simple seasoning salt and pepper really just popped. I can’t even describe it. For dessert, we ordered a key lime baked Alaska. I’m so upset because I’m the DC MD VA area you can’t find it(I spent HOURS looking) that was the best dessert I ever tasted. We also had the red velvet cupcake; O M G!!!! That’s my fav flavor and it was a million times better than a bakery. Thank you so much for everything I really enjoyed celebrating my birthday there. If Enrique is there next year, definitely asking for him to be our waiter.
Over the top experience thanks to our waiter Juan. The quality of the steak was awesome and we were no easy party with a toddler. High quality service , family friendly and most importantly the manager made the meal special by bring champagne and a cake at the end! Highly recommended and will def return!!!
Though we have dined at Steak 954 several times we felt the service as well as the food was below standard. Our waiter was obviously brand new to waiting tables and his inexperience really affected our experience. We were constantly waiting long stretches of time for our drinks and between courses. We spoke w/the manager who kindly comp’ed all our drinks for the inconveniences we suffered. At this price point we expected a superior evening.
Restaurant was okay. Since it is expensive it should have been better than okay. We had the mozzarella salad, the tomatoes were mushy and. It firm. The cheese was salty. We had the potatoes that were very good as well as Brussels sprouts. The ribeye was enough for two and good but nothing special or out of the ordinary. The ambiance was beautiful sitting out and looking over the ocean. Price was high and there are other places to get a steak as good or better for much less.
The short rib meal is flat out ridiculous. It's the main reason I go to Steak 954. But, the popovers and hash browns are killer. And, the wine list is excellent, with some particularly great wines at spot on prices. Oh, and the stone crab claws were exceptional and very fairly priced.
One small small issue. It took a bit longer than we would have liked to get our main dishes. But, gotta say, worth every bit of the wait!
Amazing ambiance and beautiful architecture and design of the restaurant. The service was fantastic as was the food. The only reason I am not giving them 5 STARS for the food is that I ordered their most expensive steak and asked for it at Medium Plus, and it came out Medium Rare, which is a big miss for a steak place of this caliber. They did take it back and cook it a little more and got it right the second go around, and the flavor was phenomenal.
My boyfriend and I came here for our 7year anniversary celebration and loved every minute of it. Our server Rob was extremely friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. And the location was beautiful. They remembered or anniversary and brought out a complimentary cupcake which made us feel special.
I always enjoy going to this restaurant, friendly staff, good food and a great service. Just we had to wait half hour for our table to be ready, made a reservation at 9:00 pm and we sat down at 9:30 it's a little bit long of a wait but not a deal breaker. will be back again soon.
Went here for my husbands birthday . He had the rib-eye steak medium rare and it came out perfect. I had the branzino and it was perfectly cooked . The fish was delicate and delicious . We had the Brussel sprouts and whipped potatoes which were seasoned well and tasty. The restaurant provided a red velvet cupcake with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. I had a cucumber martini and he had a rum cocktail both were very refreshing. I would highly recommend this restaurant . Don't miss the jelly fish tank and the amazing bar on the 4th floor.
The service once we sat down was amazing. Very attentive. They sat us in a nice corner booth. It was my mother's birthday and my sister and I had wanted a girls night. We shared the scallop appetizer, a 12 oz steak, the salmon dinner, potatoes au gratin and cauliflower. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Our server did not rush us and was available when we needed.
The only negative was the hostess. We had a reservation at 8:30 and we didn't sit until 9 pm. That is fine and all but she told us it would be 5 minutes and turned out to a 30 minutes. If she was honest in the first place we would have been fine getting a drink at the bar first. She wasn't the friendliest person and for a hostess you would want someone more friendly.
Ambiance very trendy and cool vibe (of course in a W Hotel). The Jellyfish tank is amazing. The seafood platter was great, sides were really good. Steaks were somewhat disappointing. The 40 day dry age sirloin was in some cases under cooked, some cases overcooked and fattier than expected. The filet mignons were tender and juicy but lacked flavor. At the usual upscale "steak house prices" the steaks should have been better.
I had a reservation for 2, to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. 1. it was a rare cold night in south florida, and the restaurant was freezing. everyone was eating with their coats on. 2. they didn’t have truffle mashed potatoes that night. how do you NOT have items on your menu on a saturday evening with the prices you charge? I feel bad for everyone who went to dine there on Sunday, if they’re already running out of food on a saturday. 3. We waited almost 40mins for our food to arrive, the only thing that was warm was our fries lol. we didn’t come here for fries, so we were disappointed to say the least. Steaks were burnt, over cooked and cold. but it wasn’t worth it to send it back after already freezing for 30mins to get it. We ate our fries, took our steaks to go, paid and left. If this is how it is normally, it’s not worth the money. and especially not if you go in big groups. they bring your food out all at once and i know for a fact their food was cold, if a meal for 2 was cold. The only good thing about this place is the jellyfish tank.... that’s about it. I wouldn’t return to this establishment.
Food was great, but for the price, the service was borderline average due to the pace of courses. Drinks took a considerable amount of time to hit the table, 10 minute gap between appetizer and salads, followed by longer gap for main course. Servers appeared to be overstretched with tables. A runner for food and drinks would of been invaluable. Hard to pay 300 for dinner for two with these issues.
Server was polite and well knowledgeable and ambiance was great, unbalanced table and all.
