About Stazione Centrale
We invite you to come and try our Southern Italian comfort food on our comfortable Stazione Centrale that had great touches of glamour. We worked on the interiors that look as if you were on a luxurious train ride, but, as the saying goes, you’re there for the journey, not the destination.
With over 20 years of experience in the restaurant business on St. Clair West, we always felt the strip needed something a little more casual and down to earth. Come and join us!

Stazione Centrale Ratings and Reviews
We were with our daughter and two grandchildren for a Mother's Day brunch. The restaurant was pretty full and the doors and windows to the outside were open to encourage outdoor dining but it was too cold. It was also cold in the restaurant at the front where we were (but we didn't ask them to close the doors; in fairness to them). We ordered burgers of various kinds and I had an omelet. Again, in fairness, this is an Italian restaurant and we didn't order Italian food. The wait staff was good but the service was very slow because they don't usually have this big a crowd at one time, I suspect. This made the children very restless. Finally, the fries and sweet potato fries were very salty; pub style. I'd hesitate to recommend the place for non-Italian food but will probably go back for some myself.
Lovely brunch place in our neighbourhood but this was our first time and we'll certainly go back. Unfortunately we were the only ones in the restaurant which is always a bit... well.. sad... But it's certainly not on account of the food. We started with a beet salad for two which featured two varieties lightly brined, extremely delicate and flavourful. The bread was fresh, full and delicious from Cobbs. My meal was perfect, a lovely simple and light cheese and champigmon omelette. My partner had the trout which was too salty for his liking. Cappuccinos were splendid, no surprise there. Wait staff was too attentive. Overall, we look forward to making this one of our more regular spots.
A terrible evening. After waiting 1 3/4 hours for our main course and being ignored by the server when we tried to wave her over to ask when the food would arrive, we were told there was a mistake with our order and they had not yet even started cooking it. We left the restaurant two hours after arriving and had eaten only one shared appetizer, bread and a bottle of wine. We will not be returning and will definitely not recommend this restaurant.
Great service was the best part of this meal. Unfortunately, food was just ok to say the best. One thing worth mentioning - while I actually do like the deco, there's no AC...the entire restaurant is opened up to the summer heat, not to mention the small fly we constantly tried to shoo away during the entire dinner...
Having been to Stazione Centrale a few times in the past, it seemed like a good option. The service was wonderful - our server was very attentive and followed up. The food, however, took ages 30+ minutes to be brought out, and other tables that had been seated much later than us were served their plates earlier. When the food finally arrived, it was ok (at best). We ordered a small portion of a rapini and sausage pasta, and the short rib special. The short rib was served with "Tuscan fries" - supposed to be seasoned with rosemary and truffle aioli. Not the case. Fries seemed to be cooked in oil that either wasn't hot enough or old because they had absorbed the oil and were quite heavy. The meat was cooked perfectly, but not seasoned. It's in a great location, and offers a nice ambiance and nice variety of wine. I'd give it another chance for wine and apps, but not keen on going back for dinner. Maybe it was an off night.
Our evening got off to a rocky start when our reservation could not be found in the system. They did not have enough drink menus so we were asked to quickly order what we wanted so they could be handed to new customers. The food was very salty and one of our friend's meals did not get put in the system so he had to eat after we did. Not attempt was made to remedy the situation. Awkward service, not fantastic food.
Our waitress was a delight. From wine recommendations to digestif, she was attentive, friendly, helpful, and conversational. The food was good, nothing really special, but solidly good, but the buoyant demeanour of our waitress will result in many a repeat visit. One complaint was the excessively loud music.
For the most part everything was good. Our table didn't seem to be in synch with the waitress. We always found we were asking for stuff (water, plates, drinks). But she was approachable and made an effort to keep up with the requests.
Food was good... lots of it. Drinks were good. Clean with a nice decor.
We asked for the music to be turned down three times and some how it kept going back up louder... and louder! The speaker was right above our table so it may have been loud just at our table... I could accept that but we were the only table there.
Tip: If you go in the winter months request a table away from the door as you'll freeze! We requested a table at the back away from the door. It was available but we were told for our convenience we would be seated by the fire place. We weren't... and it was cold. Can't really blame the restaurant for cold weather and customers not closing the door properly so just a tip.
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here this week and it was amazing! We loved every course that we were served. It was like an Italian ancestor was making us dinner. We can't wait to go back! The service was phenomenal and the restaurant itself is very charming. A+++
The woman who served us was just too good for this neighbourhood spot. She acted quickly when the wron salad was delivered but the bite was taken. We watched the salad delivered to another anyway :(. Our appetizers and salads were great but the short ribs were choking dry and I couldn't eat them. The pasta mediocre. Go for drinks and light fare but skip the meal.
We liked our appetizers a lot. The menu was also really easy to like, with a focus on crowd pleasers and clever, train-themed names. We absolutely loved the decor - rustic and again train themed. But when serving up dishes that are familiar and filled with ingredients people love (eg cheese, shrimp, mushrooms), they'd better be cooked really well. They weren't. Short ribs weren't as tender as they could have been. Shrimp was way overlooked. When it came to dessert, there was only tiramisu and biscotti on offer. When I ordered a tea,I was told I couldn't have one because "the machine is broken." Tea machine!? All that said, I would go back for a glass of wine and the ambience.
For a Friday night I was expecting it to be alot busier - but perhaps being the night after Valentines Day everyone stayed in. For a new spot on St.Clair competing against long time popular places like The Rushton and Ferro it was ok. I wasn't overwhelmed. I'm not a fan of places that purposely decide to leave the prices off their drink list menu and ALWAYS ask for the price of the CATCH OF THE DAY...it is not $22 as listed on their menu. I will go back in the summer to enjoy a glass of wine on their patio.
