Station House Cafe Ratings and Reviews
As always, the food was great and so was the service.
They do have issues with their AC which is always on even when it's cold out. We got seated under the AC so we wore our jackets.
If you like live loud music; you'll love it. We couldn't hear ourselves talk so that was a bummer. Our fault though; they don't always have music, so we forgot.
Recommended by a local - food was good but service was slow. They were very busy when we arrived. Maybe short staffed? Our table was ready when we arrived which is great! We saw they have a large outdoor dining area & weather permitting it would be really fun to be outside. I would give them another shot!
We are familiar with the Station House Cafe, having eaten there off and on over the years. Having moved closer to PT. Reyes not long ago we planned our day for a visit to the charming town and a early evening dinner at the Cafe. We particularly wanted to be there for dinner as that is when they serve popovers, a special treat not available at other times. We both had the pork roulade entree. We began with a vegetarian soup (for my wife) and a Caesar salad for me. Altogether an excellent dinner for two.
Station House is a great everyday dinner option. It has been a bit uneven on the food quality over the last several months, but this visit everything was up to their historical high standards: the popovers were back to their hot crisp perfection. The entree's were tasty and interesting. The service was prompt and convivial.
Excellent as always. Not pretentious. Reasonably priced. Great food and good service. What more can you ask for? I've never been disappointed with their seasonal menu, but wish they had some standbys. On one occasion, I tried their St. Louis style ribs and fell in love! However, I haven't seen them since... We WILL be together again someday as I strongly believe me and those ribs were fated. If I could marry those ribs, I would! I always recommend Station House to anyone that is heading over to the West Marin area.
Some of the food is excellent. Very tasty and seems fresh. Wonderful popovers. Such a treat. Warm and fresh. The Little Gem lettuce Caesar salad is quite good. I had papparadelle with wild mushrooms a few weeks ago and it was excellent. The pasta was so tender. And the mushrooms were tasty. Had the risotto with spring peas recently and it was lacking in flavor.
The Chartreuse mojito is wonderful.
I feel the food is inconsistent. But generally good. A fun place to go in Pt. Reyes Station. And not too expensive.
This place is packed on a sunny weekend and has a delightful patio.. We were lucky to get in for Easter Sunday brunch, bc of the rainy weather and it was delicious.. I've only been here twice and have had the same thing.. Gits and Greens w poached egg..... yum!
Our 7:30PM reservation was honored - even with a full house and 2 parties waiting . It was unusually busy for a Mon night at this hour, probably because there was a (good country) band in the bar!! Food was delicious as always (terrific popovers!), and the Bread Pudding for dessert was to die for. Server was a very nice woman in her 30s? with brown hair and a nice smile. We have been coming here for about 20 years, always stopping for dinner on our way home to Berkeley from much-needed time away at Sea Ranch.
This place used to be a favorite but I feel that the food has gone downhill, and the prices are high in comparison to the food quality. Not sure I would go back except that it's one of the few casual restaurants in the Point Reyes Station area so there aren't too many choices. The best thing about it is the atmosphere.
Point Reyes find.
We had not been to the Station House Cafe and since we were driving back from Bodega Bay
we decided to meet friends here for lunch. We sat out on the patio on a mild 73 degree Sunday.
We had great service and all of our food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
Good bar scene too.
4 of us spent the weekend in Inverness and had dinner at the cafe on a Sunday. We chose Sunday because the cafe features live music in the bar. They hire wonderful music groups like the Copasetics, resulting in a rollicking time including some brave souls who danced up a storm. After an hour of music and fabulous customized cocktails we moved to the dining room for an excellent dinner featuring local ingredients starting with oysters. The music was still playing but not so loud that it was an interruption. Just lively and lovely.
