State Social House
The main issue was that the pizza I got was gross and expensive. The fries were good.
Hostess didn’t look up when we first arrived. She proceeded to count a stack of money and when she was done she looked up. By that time a second hostess had arrived and greeted us. We turned our attention to her and she was accommodating. Later during the meal, that same rude hostess was eating a plate of sliders at the stand and playing on her cell phone.
The eggs Benedict was simply two hard boiled eggs placed on the croissant with two tiny slices of avocado flanking the egg. At least mash up the avocado? The potatoes were cold on the dish.
The Sunday football games were on with volume too loud.
Smelled of stale cigarettes.
Probably the only restaurant that still puts straws in ice water. And probably the only restaurant in LA that uses straws at all.
Waitress was sweet and did a great job.
Menu on open table doesn’t match the actual menu. Some items were the same, and even those had significant price differences (three more dollars for the eggs Benedict on the actual
Menu vs open table menu)
Don’t go here. Probably worst brunch in LA.
Overall don’t recommend this place.
The waitresses were very UNFRIENDLY! I never go back and will not recomnend!
Great place to spend catching up with friends.
Total whim. Found this restaurant on Google. The outdoor seating was fun. My wife and I shared the Bacon and Egg Cheeseburger. As good as it sounds, delicious. We also ordered the brussel sprouts. I wouldn't recommend the brussel sprouts. They were over charred and over cooked so they were mushy :( . Otherwise, the location is great, the service was great and the atmosphere was great.
More of a bar then a sit down restaurant. Not what I was looking for. The food was fine.
Came for brunch which ends at 3p. Has unlimited mimosas, food was ok, and service was cool. Great location for people watching on Sunset Blvd. and has TVs for sport lovers.
fun place to gather. Brunch menu is varied and outstanding portions and quality. Server Whitney was "on her game". Appreciate SSH and will return.
Great place. Lots of TVs for sports, fast service, good cigar lounge separate from other areas. Food was very good, good mix of people. Enjoyed watching the Finals here.
After sitting for 15 minutes in a place that was dead with no service to our table, we left. Also, a plate of chicken with no sides was $21, and to add potatoes made it around $30. Not paying $30 for a place who offers no reasonable service. And there was no toilet paper in the bathroom.
Best childhood friend visiting in from NYC! Great service and people!
This was a great place to have my birthday! There was a lot of space to mingle, the drinks were tasty, and the bartenders were great.
Service was fast and friendly, and they willingly did separate checks for our very large group of people. It was a lot of fun!
We saw4 terrific bands when there. Sadly, only 2 gave the audience their name: 'Patient' and Brandijo Kistler who was fantastic as was her entire band. The other 2 groups were also very good...and the best part was each was totally different than the preceding one, so the entertainment level was worth staying for. Thank you for the ample parking. That was a plus after a drive from Orange County.
No complaints but nothing that really stood out. We stopped in for a cocktail and ordered the BBQ chicken strips and buffalo tater tots to share. Tots tasted good but got soggy under too much topping. Chicken strips were good. Service was fine. Overall just “good” - would stop back and try other things.
Went here on a Wed. night with a good friend. Left note in reservation requesting a table where we could talk. We sat in the front part, quieter, and the drink menu is extensive and very good. The food was just OK I got half chicken that was a bit dry, and my friend got the Sashimi Pizza. He said it was ok, but he would not order again if we returned. The service was excellent and I will return.
Brunch is the best!
Great for parties. Threw the wife a lil 33 bday was a blast
Service was horrible from the moment we walked in. Greeted by a rude hostess who seemed inconvenienced that our party didn’t know if our reservation was upstairs or downstairs. The waitress then proceeded to bring the wrong drinks. When asked to correct, we got the impression that we were being high maintenance. The table ordered onion rings to share and they tasted like they were deep fried in old grease. I had chili and it tasted like the burnt bottom of the bowl was scraped. We knew it was going to be bar food (and expectations were low) but surprised at how extremely poor both food and service actually was.
Vanessa is the best!
Our waitress was very friendly and nice. She made great recommendations and food was good for bar food. State is a great place for a chill night out.
We had a third hand recommendation for this place. It was within walking distance from our hotel, so we decided to try it. The area had been experiencing a heat wave, and the day had been very hot. We walked into a very hot, noisy restaurant. It was if the AC wasn't even turned on. The dining area has very large chairs that limit space from one table to the next, so the seating is quite tight. I realize it is a bar, and there would be drinking and noise, but it was exceptionally loud with a dude, maybe connected with Social State, standing over a table toasting and dropping f-bombs in the dining area. I was ready to leave, but my group told me it was ok, and they were ok with staying, mainly because we were tired, hot, and ready to eat and return to the hotel. Everything ordered was tasty enough, overpriced from what we're used to. Our waitress and servers were friendly and courteous. Would have been cooler if we'd been served outside, however, that isn't available at this place. Kept thinking if they opened the windows, perhaps it wouldn't have been so HOT. We left very hot and tired, but at least we weren't hungry. If you're ok with loud, unairconditioned bars with a very loud dude strutting around swearing and knocking back shots...this is the place for you.
We had a reservation for dinner at 11:15pm, walked 3/4 mile from sunset marquee and they said they stop serving at 10. Ugh
Good for people watching outside. My wife and I shared a mushroom spinach quesadilla along with a couple of brews. Our waitress was excellent. Prompt service. It was a bit quiet for a Monday afternoon of a long holiday weekend.
Naked Fries = 💯
some may remember this venue as the Red Rock. Same place different name. We came for the live band kareoke upstairs on Wednesdays and it was really fun. The band was good and very helpful to the newbie singers. Live band kareoke is a lot harder than regular karaoke, and it kinda helps if you've played with a band before, which I have, but not everyone has. The food was in small portions and overpriced, but tasted decent. The expected thing anywhere in West Hollywood. The drinks were average price for the area, but not crazy expensive. The bar tender was a little heavy handed which helped. She also played drums on one of the songs, which was a bonus. Overall, it definitely had an authentic sunset strip vibe, and didn't feel like a tourist trap.
Amazing food. Amazing service. My go to brunch spot.
great service, decent bottomless mimosas. but the food was SUPER over priced for what you got. I added a side salad to my chicken sandwich for $6, and it was literally just a handful of just assorted lettuce. $6 is insane.
Food was delicious, wait staff was attentive. Live band, up stairs, put on a great performance. Overall, great time. Would definitely go back.
Best, friendliest service we have gotten in a long time. All food was great and well cooked, great place to chill.
Great place, awesome service
Super lively. Played hip hop music. Good for groups.
after making a reservation four days in advance, i was pleased when the restaurant called me to confirm my reservation and ask me a few questions about my dining preferences. we were a group of 4 people going for brunch and to watch the football game. the entire first floor was filling up with sports fans and the hostess took us upstairs and sat us near the men's bathroom and a cold breeze. i specifically requested to be near a TV, so they sat us at the worst possible table on a floor without any other customers. we asked to move and were told all the tables downstairs were reserved....I thought that was the point when I made a reservation and even confirmed when the restaurant called me. my group and I went for the bottomless bloody marys, so when we ordered them, the server told us the bloody mary bar was only downstairs, making our experience even more frustrating. needless to say, it was a very confusing and annoying experience, so i won't be going back.
Best live music experience I've had in years. Lots of young and old talent, energy, smiles and laughter.
Food - I don't know what happened to state social but it went from a place I looked forward to visiting to a place I MAY visit once a year from now on, if that. Brussels sprouts were gross. Avocado Tuna sashimi pizza was not what it used to be. It had no taste. I was so let down.
Service - Whitney has no business being in customer service. I don't know if the Botox in her face keeps her from smiling and having a personality, but she is the biggest sourpuss. Took forever to take our order, didn't fill out waters until I had to scream across the room (literally SCREAM) to get her attention. EDGAR was the real MVP. He sat us. He brought the food to us. He checked on us multiple times. He was super friendly and nice. I would have left a $20 tip for him alone, but what I left out of courtesy for Whitney I think was still too much. Who hires people like this? Won't be back for a looooooooooooooooooooong time! What a shame.
Bottomless brunch is awesome. The mimosas come with pineapple juice, orange juice or both and are only $15. They replace the bottle of champagne as needed so you don't have to wait for the servers to refill a small flute. Food is a la carte and a little over priced but very competitive for the neighborhood! Great view of the strip!
The food is ok. I expected better. Drinks are good. Prices are expected for the area. Cool vibe.
Side note - You guys really need to be able to separate checks. Our waitress only opened one tab and then made us do the math at the end of the night. We were a party of 10. 5 different cards needed to be used. Im assuming this is so that she could add an automatic 20% gratuity. Kind of a buzz kill at the end of a decent night.
In short, I wasn't really impressed with anything at State Social House. It has a very convenient location, which is why I'm sure it's busy. I'm not much of a drinker, but it appeared that they had a really good beer selection and drinks menu, but I can't say the same thing about their food. It really just wasn't very good. Their brussels sprouts were super soggy, and the cauliflower wasn't that much better. The pizza was pretty good, but if you're looking for food, I would move on and find another joint. If you're looking for a great place to watch a game or hang at a low-key bar on Sunset, this is your place.
In fairness, I only had appetizers to eat. The food tasted fine enough, but didn't blow my mind. Their drinks selection was pretty good! The service was exceptional! They were very kind, patient, and attentive. I think our party left the place feeling welcome, which is always nice!
Would recommend to friends. & I'm willing to go back again and try some main courses next time :)
Enjoyed Eclectic Music Wednesday, especially the band China. Would visit again and tell friends about this place. Actually, have already mentioned to friends and on my FB.
Food was good.
DJ came around 10pm and changed the ambience.
Smoking section downstairs was nice.
