Service and ambience were great. Little disappointed in the food - it wasn’t that it was bad but we went there on a recommendation and our expectations were really high.

Everything was perfect thanks in major part to our server Martin. He was pleasant in the extreme and made out experience extra special and welcoming. We will return...many times. And THANK YOU MARTIN!

So glad we left the Palm Springs downtown and drove up the hill to this fabulously beautiful view and restaurant. Such a unique vantage point and the architecture and layout of the Ritz was clearly designed to take advantage of it. Make your reservations ahead. Prices were very in tune with the rest of the restaurants in Palm Springs so don't be scared by the fancy brand name. You feel catered to right from the minute you arrive, so hand over your keys and enjoy. No cost for valet so a simple tip on the way out does it. Jessica was our waitress who took care of everything, very personable, knew where and when to offer assistance. There were really cool modern art bunny sculptures up for Easter and for cool picture taking. Family photo-ops galore. Outdoor tables at sunset hours can't be beaten. We had scallops (seared perfectly, big tasty), sea bass (golden browned) with risotto (flavourful, cheesy, done just right) and a shrimp seafood pasta (a subtle spiciness, pasta a little on the heavy side - but fettucini is).
Overall a beautiful spot, great food and experience and would love to stay there sometime in the future.

The food was the highlight of our lunch at State Fare--fresh flavorful and well prepared. Service however, while friendly and solicitous, fell down on basics like not keeping water glasses filled, not removing used plates and not offering extra plates when a generous appetizer of delicious fried calamari was shared. Finally, the valley view we've heard so much about was a disappointment because too many seats are positioned so that diners' backs are to it, and a grove of palm trees obscures much of it. All in, our meal felt like decent value but it would have been excellent with some simple improvements.

We’ve been here before and stayed at the hotel and LOVED it. This time we stopped by for a lunch date to get away after long work week. We were greeted by our waitress, she took our drink order then came back and took our order. That pretty much ended her attentiveness to us. We had an appetizer and needed more drinks but she never came around. Finally our food came and she came by half way into food and asked if we needed anything, all the while our glasses were empty. I asked if she could refill my drink and that was last we saw her. She never refilled my husband’s soda or water either. Ppl around us with different waiters/waitresses were getting great, friendly service. It was almost like she was a different person. We had to ask for refills from someone walking by and had to ask another waitress for the check. We love this restaurant and this hotel but left feeling very unhappy and unsatisfied. Not sure what happened but just a huge disappointment.

Service was VERY slow. Greetings at Valet/Parking area were very gracious and warm. Greeting at dining area was cold and disinterested. Cuban Sandwich was just a couple of slabs of meat...no flavor. The Onion Soup was tasty. In general, State Fare Dining has slipped from previous high standards.

Came in for a lunch with girlfriends and we had a lovely time! Service was super friendly and efficient. We had salad, burger and chicken panini and we all quite enjoyed our lunches. We each had a glass of wine and were able to leisurely dine and chat, with no rush to finish. Hospitality is an A+ from arrival through departure, truly exemplifying the Ritz Carlton experience. Wonderful!

Took our Mom and two friends here to celebrate three birthdays. We had high hopes since this restaurant appears to have good reviews and it's located at the Ritz Carlton. It was just OK. Somewhat limited lunch menu. Entire group of five were underwhelmed with the food. Service was EXCELLENT. I've had better (more interesting) hamburgers for half the price (which is why the Value score is low). Server brought a complimentary birthday desert for sharing (two small pieces of tiramisu) for five people (I guess it's the thought that counts). Maybe dinner is a different experience. We may never know...

While we were not able to be seated outdoors as requested, the inside was adequate. Service was very slow and no checking on food order or no replenishing ice tea/soda. The soup was not hot and because they didn't check back, we had no recourse. The prime burger was good, but a bit greasy. Enjoy the view on your own and not go for the food as the main event.

Made a reservaion on line . Did'nt have much option with time so we took the 5:30 Pm opening . Got seating out side .Was geeting a little chilly out side asked for seating by the fire pits to keep warm . Wasn't able to seat us there cause there were only two of us and those tables are for four. Which they had three empty tables.
We asked if we could get a heater and it took 3 askings before some one would finally get a heater . By then we want to sit inside which had plenty of seating . The service was slow . Not very impressed with the service .

Poor service. We ordered soup and sandwich. Soup came out promptly. We never got the sandwich. Finally asked someone because the waiter was no where in sight. Shortly after the second person brought out a sandwich that looked hastily prepared and not as we asked for it. We decided to leave. It's unfortunate because it's lovely at the Ritz and we enjoy going there but the restaurant is not up to Ritz standards.

Outdoor seating for lunch was lovely. My guest enjoyed the calamari and brisket sandwich. My salad was just okay. We had three different servers come by our table to take care of us. One asked if we wanted bread for the table before the meal. We all said yes but none ever arrived. Also, our three entrées arrived without the calamari that was ordered to start. Staff was very friendly.

Heater promised for outdoor dining. We were seated at table without heat. We asked for heater and one was eventually wheeled over. Server didn’t know how to light in, so propane was released. People at next table were concerned about igniting propane via nearby fire pit. Eventually another server arrived to light it, but left it on low. Still another server arrived to take over. We had to ask to have heater turned up. Food was over thought, over fat, over rich, over flavored. Pasta carbonara with flat fettuccine noodles swimming in creme. Pork was overcooked and bacon-bit sized, crunchy, and spicy. Roasted chicken was merely baked. Very slow pickup of credit card to pay. Very pleasant service by last server undercut by overall lack of professionalism. Not a Ritz experience!

This was my second lunch at your restaurant in two months and loved it. On both occasions,
we ate outside and loved the ambiance there. A heater was offered and provided on this last trip and was most welcome. Service (Dillon) was great and spaced nicely (not rushed) and checked up on. Water refills were offered and accepted. Tables are spaced fairly well ( not on top of each other) and although the pool was busy, there wasn't a lot of noise that reached the
restaurant patio.

I am so sad to write this review of State Fare and the RItz Carlton. The occasion was lunch for 6 celebrating the 75th birthday of my wife, a sentimental occasion since, 25 years ago, we celebrated her 50th birthday at a private party on the Croquet Lawn.
We have eaten at State Fare several times, consistently finding the ambiance and service excellent and the food very good. This time, the ambiance didn't disappoint but the service was a mixed bag and the food was a big diasppointment. The staff was friendly but not sufficiently observant to refill empty champagne glasses or serve iced tea when glasses were empty. After a second request for the iced tea someone explained that brew time was 7 minutes and that it would be out shortly. It arrived about 15-20 minutes after the first request. By the time we realized that there was champagne in our bottle we were having dessert and coffee. We poured it but it went unfinished.
Our party of six ordered 5 different entrees. Every one was a disappointment. One chicken sandwich went uneaten. As the server picked up the plate I heard our guest state that the chicken was too dry to eat and to please let the chef know. While we didn't raise our concerns as we left, when my wife and I discussed it afterwards, sharing our concern about the dry chicken, we both commented that we hadn't enjoyed our sandwich or pasta dish and that neither of them was properly cooked or tasty. We then asked our other friends who also confirmed disappointment with their entrees.
The beautiful location and impecable ambiance of the Ritz Carlton calls for a much different standard of service and food quality than we experienced. I hope that this review will cause those responsible for oversight of this former desert gem to make some changes.

The restaurant was on the patio, beautiful. After ordering wine, we waited 35 minutes, asked another waiter to find our waiter, he brought the wine and took our orders. We waited another
30 minutes before our food arrived. Everyone around us was served and had finished. Food was good, service was awful. We wondered if it was because we were 6 women! Being women we all tipped, which we shouldn't have.

Since opening, State Fare has become a favorite for our seasonal visits to the desert.
Though the food preparation is still quite lovely, we were saddened by two things this past visit-
1. The service: Part of the reason we love The restaurant is that we've had exceptional service every visit. This time, though the service was not *bad*, it was also not great. Things were so relaxed that we wondered if we'd been forgotten about a few times...
2. (And most importantly) whomever thought it a good idea to put an incredibly loud, mediocre singer in this space needs to rethink this. We were on the other side of the restaurant, and yet as soon as he started singing we could no longer have a conversation without screaming. We were finishing our entrees and planning after-dinner drinks and dessert- instead we quickly requested our check and left.
Sadly, We won't go back if they continue to have live music.
