State Fare Bar & Kitchen
We had the best dinner...food, service and ambiance
Beautiful location overlooking the ritz Carleton courtyard and pool. We sat in the patio which was nicely lit up at night. Great cocktails, the cocktail shrimp was amazing and so were the avocado fries! We had steak and veal both good but not an experience. Service was excellent! We walked around the courtyard afterwards and enjoyed views of the city at night. The location and food made the evening an event. Would do this again!
Food sucks! Service is arrogant. Hated it
DJ gave us great service, looking forward to going back
The service was wanting. Refill on drinks wasn't offered until we were finished with entree. We ordered dessert and they served it with dishes still on the table from our lunch. The dessert we ordered was not eaten it was not good and it's pretty hard to screw up desserts.
My husband and I have had many very nice lunches at the Ritz State Fare. We had no reason not to expect a similar excellent experience: in our last trip to the desert we had to skip our Ritz lunch so we resolved not to miss this time. For our 2:00 pm seating we asked for a table at the balcony rail - when we were seated we saw tables available on the rail but ours was not - we asked our wait staff and we were moved to a rail table. We looked at the menu. The State Fare lunch/mid afternoon menu has always been limited but this time it seemed extremely so: we finally ordered wine by the glass (I had a very good prosecco recommended by the waiter). Ordering food was a challenge in light of the limited menu. Finally, my husband ordered the "crispy shrimp" to share and the avocado toast: I ordered the smoked salmon pizza. The food was delivered. A MAJOR serving error was not to bring an appetizer plate for each of us (or at least one for me, the "sidekick", in addition to the dish/plate in which the 6 large shrimp, and the sauce, was ensconced --) - the "crispy shrimp" was very messy since it was served with a very liquid red sauce and was almost impossible to eat with any class since one had to pull off, cut off or bite off the "tails" - - - - A separate plate would have made a major difference - a place to put the tails, messily drop parts of the shrimp - and drips from the sauce! I thought that the omission was so obvious that certainly someone would bring at least one more plate -- alas. Did not happen. Then - the entrees arrived. I had quizzed the wait person on the crust of the pizza and asked for a thin crust only -it was NOT a thin crust. I consumed 2 of the perhaps 8 slices. My husband enjoyed the avocado toast. I debated even taking the pizza home - decided to to so and in retrospect was pleased I had -- it was better cold. We will go back next year when we return to the desert but we will want to look online at the menu first!
The ambiance and service is great. We always like to take people here for the views also when visiting the desert. However, food is not the same. Rolls were hard and stale and menu seems more limited. Prices also seem to have gone up. And while this sounds weird to say, it seems like the palm trees have matured and block the view of the valley.
Excellent service and a great view!
We MIGHT go back for drinks and a burger on the Patio when the weather is nicer. The menu that was on line was not the current menu, which was one thing that attracted us to State Fare. We took the 5:30 reservation, because it was that or 9:00...but the dining room was mostly empty, even when we left at 7:30. I was under the impression that it was more upscale, but it is basically the hotel's family restaurant- lot's of families with lot's of children.
My husband and I both" settled" on the Veal Shank, that was VERY dry.
Our server Cyndll was WONDERFUL- she was the only great thing about State Fare.
Everything was tasty, service excellent
Our server, DJ, was most accommodating, friendly and a joy to have as our attendant at State Fare. Seriously, I would recommend anyone going to The Ritz / State Fare to ask for DJ! He knows what he's doing. The food was delicious, the ambiance superb--the whole evening was delightful, relaxing and worth the price! To all I say....ENJOY!
lovely place to celebrate a birthday...
Thank you from all three of us.
Fantastic food and service!
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Our server DJ was amazing. Food and drinks were delicious!!!!
Our server Kelly was excellent. She was extremely courteous yet nicely irreverent
Lunch was fast and very good. Ambience nice. Wait/server staff very nice and attentive.
Have been to venue twice before and thoroughly enjoyed lunch/service on sun shining patio. Asked for patio again this time & tried it out but found it too windy/cool. Staff were great at setting a table inside for us. Waiter was very knowledgeable about items on menu & took orders. Orders took awhile(too long) to be served. Service went down hill from there... Had to wave someone down to get missing dressing for two chopped salad orders. Rest of party enjoyed food. Plates were gathered & then waiter stopped by to ask how things were tasting so far - we were done & cleared at this point! No-one had stopped by to ask if everything was okay after serving us nor asked if we wanted a cocktail refill or whether we wanted coffee/dessert & I had made a note of a birthday in reservation. A mediocre experience this time.
We were looking for a fun place to have dinner for our Girls Movie night near the Mary Pickford Theater and this suggestion came up! I've been here a few times, and remembered the awesome burger and the Avocado fries... and the view! So we made the reservation with great expectations. And we were not disappointed. The staff is so attentive and friendly, ready with recommendations and info about everything on the menu. While I could not resist the burger with the bacon jam and pretzel bun (!), my friend tried the Carbonera and loved it. The cocktails were intriguing, different and tasty. And the view... WOW. It was a cold, rainy night but we could see the Valley lights and enjoy the evening snug in our booth. We were not rushed, even though both the bar and the restaurant quickly filled up. Highly recommend State Fare for any occasion or group dinner!
Horrible ambience -- overly bright, cafeteria feel, freezing temps, and hoards of children -- not at all what we expected to find at the Ritz Carlton! The scenic drive up and mandatory valet parking were the only 'elegant' parts of the evening. Our party ordered several different items from the menu, none of which were delicious or memorable. None of us will be back. Such a disappointment!
It’s good as always but the server seemed a little off.
Overall good restaurant, pricey with incredible views inside the Ritz Carlton atop the hit.
A group of us had lunch here two days after having light dinner at the new hotel in Palm Springs, The Rowen, a Kimpton hotel. State Fare likewise is a hotel venue, at the Ritz Carlton. The comparison could be a case study in what a venue must have in order to claim that it is special, luxurious, five-star (or even just 3) Though there's no problem whatever with the food at State Fare (it's very good) the big difference is service. Lobby staff at the Rowen were invisible at 7:00 pm on a Friday (we saw only 3 counting front desk) and when alerted to a problem couldn't be bothered to resupply the lobby rest rooms (the busiest in any hotel) with TP. At The Ritz Carlton, you never open a door or stand more than 5 seconds looking around for something before a courteous and knowledgeable staff member is there to help you, always with a pleasant greeting and a "sir" or "ma'am." From the front entrance valets to the staff busing tables, it's professional all the way and you feel like you are much more important than you probably are.
Very inattentive waitress my experience in the past has been a staff member for every two to thee customer and had checked in often. Placed my order when I sat down and saw only the gentleman clearing a table who asked if I needed my drink refilled, even items that were offered never made it to the table. In fairness I ate here three 3 times this visit and this was the only one that was an epic failure.
Service was excellent. Limited wine list.
Food was good.
2 of 5 meals came out wrong after 50 minutes waiting and restaurant emwas empty
The only reason I am giving a 4 star rating is because of the view which was amazing. The food was completely disappointing and over priced.
Had a wonderful evening sitting outside and enjoying great food. The view was spectacular as the sun went down. Watching the lights come on down in the desert was just beautiful!! It was just a most enjoyable evening! Thank you!!
Food, service and ambiance all excellent! Terrific view of the valley.
Good atmosphere and the service is always on point.
Worst chicken caesar salad ever. That's all I have to say.....
I like the restaurant, but FYI they no longer use OpenTable. They are on Resy.
The food was awesome. The portions were generous; next time we'll split a meal. The service was impeccable, they anticipated our needs. We ordered in courses and they gave us time in between. They seated us in front of the window and the view is spectacular!
Outstanding service and a menu with a nice simple menu. It is concentrated on salads and sandwich at a price that I would say is considerably better (lower) than what I would expect in most hotels let alone the Ritz-Carlton. The avacado fries were delicious, both of our mains (brisket and club sandwiches) were very tasty and just the right portion. Note that in the summer you will want to dine indoors (I wonder if they would even seat you outside when it’s 110°) so your view will be a little limited. After your meal you can walk out to pool area and take in the view. Also valet parking is validated (free) with the meal. A really nice high end spot for dining without draining your wallet.
Sehr gutes Essen, nette Bedienung, es geht alles viel zu schnell wie überall in dieser Region, aber ansonsten alles top.
Excellent food and service!
Nothing was bad, nothing was special - except for the view. At a Ritz-Carlton, I expect it to be among the best dishes I've ever eaten. Yet everythg is generally average.
We loved it! The room is spacious, open and relaxing. The lunch menu is varied and offers something for everyone. Do *not* miss the Avocado Fries!!! Burger was great; Cobb Salad perfect; and eggs were perfectly cooked. Wonderful, friendly service will bring us back as well. Give it a try!
Last morning at the resort and had an amazing brunch. Thanks to cyndii for great service and a constant smile
We had lunch for Fathers Day! It’s a beautiful restaurant with an even better view!
We had an incredible lunch for our friend, Jim's, 88th Birthday. The view and the grounds are amazing. Our left-handed server was wonderful (we had a discussion about how much smarter we lefties are than most). Very attentive and fun. The carrot soup and the tortilla soup were spectacular. Two had the panini and raved about it. The topper was the avocado fries...I've had deep fried almost everything, but these are a must! Can't wait to go back for dinner!
