Ocala / Gainesville's best restaurants based upon thousands of OpenTable diner reviews
Wispering Oaks was a great time. we were seated outside at a high top table with a wine barrel pedestal. Dinner was excellently cooked over a wood grill. A live band was playing Light Jazz in the courtyard.. Tables were a mix of high top tables and picnic tables with ample dining space, two gazebos and a seating around a fire pit. We would recommend Wispering Oaks highly. you might even see us next time you go. And using Open Table wass a breeze. MoreOpenTable Diner -

Horse farms and small diners are commonplace along U.S. Route 441 between Gainesville and Ocala; both are integral parts of Central Florida culture. When you stop for a meal in the area, you'll find that some of the best places may be connected to a gas station or convenience store. Since most establishments are locally owned, they give off an "Old Florida" vibe. Barbecue sandwiches are popular when served with slow-cooked vegetables. Biscuits and gravy are in high demand at breakfast time. Even in small towns like Micanopy and Reddick, you will find a range of Italian, Mexican, and Cuban cuisine. If you head to the east side of Orange Lake, restaurants in the small towns of Citra and Hawthorne are rumored to serve Florida gator tail and authentic Greek gyros.
