STARS Restaurant! Ratings and Reviews
Not one of the 4 people at our table who ordered meat, got the size they asked for - it was off as much as 2 ounces. If you want to be known for cutting at table side - then have someone who knows what they are doing and can cut meat within at least an ounce of what is requested - I really feel that it should be within a half ounce!! If I ask for a 15 oz steak and you cut a 17 oz, you should either recut it or charge me for what I ask for! Made us overly concerned if the steak would be cooked properly. The steaks did all come cooked properly and were delicious. The diver scallops were great as well.
The gnocchi side dish were burnt on one side and dry and the $9.00 ceasar salad was good, but hardly any lettuce on the plate.
Overall this is a great restaurant. My husband found it a little too 'high brow' for him but if you want a really good steak with lots of attention in a pretty location, this is the place for you. We went in winter at night so unfortunately counldn't see the ocean which is right across ths street! We also had breakfast here the next day and that was beautiful.
Be prepared to spend some $$ as you won't get out cheap even if you don't drink much. So as long as you know what you're getting - a great dinner and a romantic, night out - then you're all set.
Our waiter was superb (tall, black man, had been with the CBI for over 20 years). He was very responsive, professional and knowledgeable, and pleasant!
Really enjoyed the experience.
We had the Chateau-Briand...better to reduce the size and the price of it...very filling for 'today's couple, who are conscious of serving size.' It was so delicious, yet, too much.
Also loved the Olive Tampanade with the Caesar salad.
You should not charge a plate splitting fee...this is 'small minded' for salad split, and should not be done.
But, this is simply our opinion/advice, since you asked.
We came here off season so I can only speak to what it was like in Winter. Service was impeccable, the food was fantastic and the setting managed to both be very romantic and great for families. My understanding is that the place is insanely busy in the summer season with lots of families, so the restaurant has a small, very intimate side dining room for people who want to dine without children around. We ate here both for dinner and breakfast and both meals were incredible. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and at low tide you can see seals sunning themselves on the sand bars. (Or maybe they were rocks and I was just hoping they were)
We had a wonderful dinner at Stars this weekend. The service was impeccable. Our server Dean was very knowledgeable and helpful about the menu and the wine list. My appetizer of truffle beignets with a sauce was unbelievable. It really was a one of a kind appetizer. My husband thought his oysters were huge and had a fabulous sauce. My lamb chops were cooked just right and had a sea salt covering which gave it a crunchy taste. They were the best lamb chops I have had.Dean said the chef always seems to get the temperature of the meat exactly right for each person. After dinner we retired to the dessert lounge which is a lovely setting to watch the chef cook your dessert.I would like more choices for dessert in the future.
The Chatham Bars Inn- STARS restaurant was an amazing experience. From the "bacon and eggs" appetizer to the dry aged beef selections for the entree, it was a meal that satisfied all of the senses. The ambiance of the dessert room was definitely the topper( hand made treats made right in front of you by the amazing pastry chef.)!
Despite small glitch when we arrived (they didn't have our reservation - they had just "given" our table to another party in error - which they quickly corrected and sat us within a very short time period), meal was exceptional, as was the service in the dining room.
My husband and I just enjoyed a fabulous anniversary dinner at CBI and agree the word "memorable" applies. The ambiance, service and especially the food was outstanding. The crab cakes and the scallops were the best we've ever had! We will most definitely be back from out of state!
We had a wonderful night at Stars. They have revamped the main dining room at the Chatham Bars Inn to make it a steak place. The service was impeccable. We had a wonderful window view of the water. The steak cart was brought around and everyone can pick their cut of meat and the amount they will eat.My husband had the sea scallops and he said they were cooked just right with a fabulous sauce. The filet was great and the sauces were fabulous. The best part was the attention to service. We had three people checking on us in a nice way to see if we needed anything. Then we were escorted into the Chocolate Lounge for dessert. This is a lounge with couches looking at a kitchen where they cook your dessert.Amazing!
Day-old bread and a lot of time to get even the starters. The wine was good after it was chilled but was pretty warm when first served. The room was frigid. It's a summer restaurant where many women were in sleeveless dresses but they all had to put on sweaters or borrow their partners jackets. I've been there before and it's always a meat locker.
Save your money, not worthed.Poor service. We arrived at 6:15 for our 6:30 appointment and were
told that there will be a half and hour waiting time. And that inspite of the fact that the dining room was practically empty. Then no sooner that we sat at the lounge, the receptionist
came running and declared that a table has become available.
I ordered their special strip steak for $40.00.After a very long waiting time (which no doubt
explains why they call it aged steak},
I got a small piece of meat shaped not as a steak but as a filet mignon.
A hamburger at any fast food restaurants, would have been larger, tastier and definitely cheaper. The servers and busboys kept changing through the dinner and they were not properly trained.Weak martin
We went to Stars for a birthday.celebration. Sure enough they forgot our request for a window table, which made us wait another half hour, and for a birthday celebration cake, which never came. When we moved to the desert chef room, I thought that they would serve the birthday cake, but that never happened. It was disappointing as we wanted to surprise our guests.
Quality restaurants take care of all details to take care of their guests. Obviously, quality and attention to detail are missing at Stars. Other than that, the wait staff was very good. The problem of the restaurant is its management.
Our food was good, but did not warrant the very high prices. The staff were pleasant and attentive while tending to push the pricier selections. The special dessert room was 'meh' and not worth the trouble or prices. We had gone to the restaurant days in advance to ask for special seating to celebrate a special occasion and was assured that we could be accommodated. Needless to say, while they acknowledged our special occasion, we were seated toward the back of the restaurant, no apologies or explanation. We all thought that once was enough at this restaurant. If you want to experience the view, sit on the porch and have drinks and appetizers and skip Stars. We don't mind paying for an exceptional meal, but this was not exceptional.
Yes the food was incredible and the view to die for, however the evening was made more special by the thoughtul and friendly wait staff of Ivan and Stanaslov. All too often we dine out and have an incredible meal ruined by staff who sinly throw down the apps and fire the meal. Little or no conversation and not a smile in sight. Not these two. They made our night. Thanks guys!
First off, this is not a downtown steakhouse. Once you get over that you can enjoy the atmosphere, if not the food. The steak on a trolley, which the server cuts to your specified weight, was a unique feature. Having said that, the service was incredibly slow and many sides and sauces listed on the menu did not accompany the dishes. The steaks were good, but not worth the price. I'd go back for a lunch or salad, but if you want serious steak wait until you get back to the city.
Power failure during our stay. Extremely warm and humid without AC. In spite of this, the kitchen was able to offer a full menu. Very pricey and predictable offerings. Special dessert was too creative and a bomb as far as we were concerned.
Lovely setting, attentive service but not enthralled with the "steak house" attempt. My husband ordered the dry aged prime and both of us felt my choice tenderloin was better.
This was an anniversary dinner. I tried the special bone in filet steak at $68 and it was brought out overcooked. They had to cook another. Meanwhile my wife ate alone. The risotto was undercooked. Crab cake was great though. The pavlova dessert was disappointing. Cost way too much for the experience. You can get much better food and better environment at less cost.
Exquisite experience. The entree is elected by the diner with a side dish and method of preparation. The meat cart brings a choice of beef to the table. You choose your own size and cut of meat and it is prepared for you at your preference. Our server, Orlando ,was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us to create a perfect meal. His attention to detail is amazing and his service was unsurpassed.
We highly recommend Stars for its stellar menu and service!
I have eaten at many steak restaurants and this was by far the best steak i've had. and even better, I could order whatever size i wanted (i am pregnant and can't eat large amounts at one sitting, so i was able to get a 5 oz. filet). the sides were AMAZIING and we ended the meal in the dessert lounge - a separate room where they take you to watch the desserts be prepared and enjoyed in a more lounge/casual setting than the formal dining room. while this restaurant was quite pricey it was ideal for a special occasion (our last night of vacation).,
Dean was our server and was absolutely excellent. I had scallops and my partner had the 58$ piece of beef (can't remember what cut) both of which was enjoyable and was preceeded by the french onion soup. Don't miss out on going to the dessert lounge for an experience...ask for the chef's choice (let them know if its your birthday because you get a extra treat that topped the night). Truly a wonderful dining experience.
