STARS Restaurant! Ratings and Reviews
Although our family has had a house in Chatham since the late 60's, we had never eaten at Stars. We decided to have Easter brunch there this year and were not disappointed. The offerings were varies and many and the service was extremely attentive. The price was high, but it was Easter. Still, call to ask about price so you are not surprised. It is a lovely spot for a special occasion meal.
There wasn't any chicken or pasta dishes to choose from. If you did not like seafood or steak (which was the case) you were out of luck. The desserts were small and the selection was minimal. For a top notch restaurant we felt that the prices were extremely high for the selection and the portion sizes offered.
We appreciate a relaxed pace and don't want to feel rushed when we go out, but to have your dinner order forgotten is a different matter entirely. After close to an hour after ordering, the waiter realized he had not ordered our food and apologized. We did receive our first course a few minutes later. Mistakes do happen, but when they do management should do everything possible to satisfy the customers. No effort was made here. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but the price of the restaurant dictates a higher level of service.
$60.00 steak. You have to be kidding me. I am wondering if it was even a sirloin. Much too thin. Duck was mediocre at best. Foie gras was wonderful. First and last time here. Had to see what the buz was all about. Hard pressed to find a fine dining experience on the cape. Looks like we have to eat in to get a good meal.
very uneven experience. We go here every time we're on the Cape. Service was very off, steak (which is very expensive) was overcooked. When you charge $55 dollars for an entry (and we're ok with that) everything else needs to work. Overall, very disappointed.
This is a pretentious place with a great view. The wine list tells you all you need to know: no French red under $75, most over $100, and some over $1000. This is place where you go to show off and drop a lot of money. The food is bland at best; the steaks are tender but have very little flavor. The service is professional but uneven (we were never offered a cocktail, for example). The dessert (Napoleon they called it) tasted like wax more than chocolate. But the view is great.
Everything was perfect for our romatic anniversary celebration. The appetizers through dessert were all very well prepared. The pastry chef came out to explain the special dessert of the evening, taking a lot of pride in her work. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the service was unbelieveable. We felt like we were the only ones that our waiter waited on. This restaurant is worth every penny for that special evening. And believe me, it was a lot of pennies.
Stars is known for its steaks, but I succumbed to a tempting lobster flambé which was artfully prepared table side. Great choice! My friend ordered the surf & turf special--good steak as expected; less expected was the shrimp (excellent) and the scallops (large but with an off taste). The salads and sides were good; dessert (chef's surprise--small almond cake with coconut creme) was just so-so. The beautiful (and relatively quiet!) setting and attentive service (except for a delay when we were ready for the check) enhanced the evening. Not an inexpensive experience but treat yourself anyway!
Wonderful evening with a beautiful view of the moon shining over the water. Steaks melted in your mouth and were cooked to perfection. Service was pleasant but slow for a restaurant that wasn't quite full. Coffee was cold and potatoes could have been warmer. Best crab cake I haver ever tasted, all crab with a tangy sauce. Oysters were tasty.
My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary celebration at Stars. The service was impeccable. The food was outstanding. I had the lobster flambé which was cooked table side. It was fascinating to watch him cook and explain what he was doing. It was delicious. We had the chef's surprise dessert which was different types of chocolate with a smoky and spicy taste. We also had a window table so we watched the moon rise over the water. It is a great place for a special occasion but it is expensive.
We have been to Chatham Bars Inn-STARS on a prior occasion, so we knew what to expect. It surpasses all other local Cape Cod attempts at fine dining, no question. It is very good, but it still needs to polish its effort a bit more. We would expect a better variety from the bar (good as it is), and a bit more in the way of sides. Like I said, it is very good; it just doesn't make it to "spectacular" for me.
We stayed at the Chatham Bars Inn and ate at the Stars for dinner the first evening. Everything was first class...view,service,food. We also ate brunch there on 2 days and that was superb also. It may seem pricey to many, but the experience was well worth it.
My husband and I wanted to take out my son and girlfriend to a special place since both will be going off to college in the Fall. We were planning to visit friends on the Cape last weekend so we made reservations for this past Sunday and were not disappointed. Everything from the friendly service of their staff to the food--which was fantastic--made this an unforgettable evening. Highly recommended!
We dined here to celebrate my husband's birthday while on vacation. We both thought the entire meal was outstanding. The tenderloin steak was the best we've had, and we have dined at some of the best restaurants around. Usually there is one food item that is a standout during a meal but everything we ordered was wonderful and cooked perfectly, from the wine to the potatoes to the fish and steak, and dessert. The service was polite and attentive, also. Truly a special, impressive night, and worth every penny.
Would never recommend . The duck was cold and the food does not own up to the other reviews. Much better restaurants around. We ask to call for car service and refused because we were staying in a different hotel. Totally rude would never stay in that place. It has gone down hill.
Nothing negative to say about Stars at the Chatham Bars Inn. The service was top notch, and the food was fantastic. Really nice setting with a view of the ocean. We had tenderloin steak from the meat cart that they bring to your table. You tell them how many ounces you'd like and they cut it and weigh right there. The steak was cooked perfectly per out order. I recommend the Nepoleon for desert. You'd have to see and taste it to believe it. It's a little pricey compared to some restaurants on the Cape, but well worth it, and a great place for special occasions, or if you're trying to impress a special person.
We went to CBI for our 15th anniversary last year and it was so good we decided to do the same again this year. Cory was our waiter and although he was new to the position he gave us great service and was very attentive. We would highly recommend a romantic evening out at this restaurant
Best crab cake and best tuna tar tar we have ever had (seriously). Steaks cooked perfectly and mouth watering. Hubby said French onion soup was unbelievable. Complimentary Cauliflower soup course was so delish would have licked the bowl had it not been such a fine establishment. All sides ordered were delish. No competition. Wish this restaurant was closer to home!
My husband and I chose Stars to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Our appetizers and entrees were delicious. The crab cake was so good I wish I had ordered two! My husband devoured his steak and shrimp combo. Best of all, the staff went out of their way to make our dining experience a special occasion. It was a very memorable dinner.
If you want the ultimate in food coupled with an almost 'over-attentive" wait staff, this is the place. Gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean. We had the Chateau Briand. It was cooked to perfection and very, very tender. A bit pricy but well worth every morsel. The trip from South Yarmouth to Chatham was well worth the drive. If you do not appreciate this restaurant, you do not appreciate fine dining in the truest sense of the word.
While the food at Stars was very good, the service was lacking. We asked to be seated near a window but we were seated no where near a window. The hostess did not try to accommodate our request at all. Our waiter did not welcome us to the restaurant and did not introduce himself. We had to ask for bread to be brought to our table and for our water glasses to be filled. For a four star restaurant, this is not the level of service that is expected. In general, the food was very good but we were very disappointed in the service.
The ambiance and view are spectacular. We ordered rib eye medium rare, by the ounce, as it was offered. Unfortunately,
the beef was medium. The manager removed the charge from our bill but, we would have enjoyed the whole evening
more if the entree had been prepared as ordered. The onion rings were spectacular.
Our wait for food was very long. It was the season's opening weekend which probably contributed to that as well. We will
certainly try STARS again with the hope that the issues have been worked out.
