Starry Night Cafe
Celebrating Valentine's Evening open 5pm - 9pm Tuesday, February 14th!!!
With three separate dining rooms as well as extensive outer grounds, Starry Night Cafe offers a fantastic array of both private dining and slightly more casual settings.
In the warmer months, the newly renovated outside setting is perfect for catering larger events, ceremonies or an intimate evening stroll. From the unique setting, exceptional service and sensational food and drinks, the Starry Night Cafe offers the perfect package for creating a truly memorable event, large or small!
As a basic framework, our 'Function Package' usually consists of the following:
"Cocktail Hour" with array of passed hors d'oeuvres
Optional style of bar (wine & beer / signature cocktails)
Sit down to a specialized Abridged Menu
Great atmosphere and flowers around the restaurant. Food was good. The octopus could of been more plentiful for the price. Great desert. Service was good too. Overall I will come back but they could work on the value equation. More great food or less price.
Always consistently good
One of our favorites
The Apple. Crisp left a little to be desired
Every thing was very nice, tasty and well served. The noise level in the dining room we were in made it very difficult for us elderly folk who depend on hearing aids and need less clattering noise and/or music. If you could find a way to absorb some of the sounds it would make the experience more restful and enjoyable.
Likely this is the best (or top 3) restaurants in Vermont.
This is a real gem on a barren stretch of Route 7. The food is first rate, creative and beautifully presented. Locally sourced food. Servers and staff are very professional and welcoming. One of our go-to choices to treat guests from out of town!
What a lovely meal! The service and meal presentation was fantastic. We never felt rushed and every selection from the menu was out of this world with spices and flavors!
Excellent food, professional staff, great craft beer selections.
Dinner, service and atmosphere was great . Definitely worth the drive from Richmond.
Truly excellent dishes were prepared. We had two different salads and two different meals; all four were superbly prepared. Service was prompt and attentive. Our first experience; we will come again.
This was my 2nd experience after many yesrs. Loved the menu and local sourced food options. Sound proofing in main dining area greatly improved upon the quiet, ambience.
Great experience sitting outside and enjoying the sunset and clouds. Terrific food and cocktails made by Eric the bartender. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Wonderful fresh food, service and ambience if a bit overpriced
We hadn't been to the Starry Night in at least ten years (thanks to having little ones and having no time to get out!), and were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was the perfect date night dinner. The ambiance is lovely (warm summer evening, we sat in the screened in porch out back), delicious appetizers and cocktails, and an amazing main meal. Our waiter was great, too. So happy we made it back and hope it's not another ten years before we come again!
We were out on the porch and the cooler breeze, night sounds, candlelight was absolutely magical.
As always, our dinner was perfect and the service was excellent. This is definitely our go-to restaurant.
Wonderful setting to meet with friends. We had a lovely evening and the dishes were spectacular as was the service!
Overall we were happy with the restaurant. However, our dinner was a disappointment. My husband and I both ordered the pork. It was very tough and dry - so difficult to cut that neither one of us finished it. In retrospect, we should have sent it back, but that is awkward when the 3rd diner had gotten her meal. The smattering of vegetables on the plate were flavorless. Though we would like to return to the restaurant, we would be hesitant about doing so.
The gazpacho with scallops is a superp appetizer. The Venison special I had as an entree was terrific. As always the service was wonderful. We are regulars. Never disappointed.
We had out-of-town family visiting and were looking for a cozy place to spend the evening around the table with excellent food options and a varied wine card. Starry Night was perfect for us!
Haven't been down in a while from South Burlington. Love the new outdoor porch and can't wait to come back as Fall approaches. Meal and service was just outstanding!
we love Starry Night - but - for the first time out of 6 visits - one entry (the tenderloin) was VERY TOUGH and grizzly
We did not complain - so - the staff had no idea
everything else was excellent - as usual
Wonderful food, sophisticated tastes and delightful presentation. Ate outside on patio - very nice in good weather. First class service too.
One of my favorite spots! Beautiful atmosphere and a fantastic menu.
We've driven by Starry Night on our way to visit family in NY for the last 16 years and kept saying that "someday" we'd like to eat there. Work, a child and the busy-ness of life got the best of us and we never made the drive from Waterbury to make an evening of it. Our anniversary was in August of this year and we decided to finally to make the trek. We turned it into a day long adventure, stopping by Shelburne Winery, and canoeing up the LaPlatte River before heading out for our dinner reservations. We could not have been more thrilled and the experience lived up to our imaginings. The patio seating was delightfully quiet, relaxed and woodsy (complete with bunnies). The food was spectacular, our waitress engaging and attentive and her wine recommendation was spot on. The only thing I might have wished for was an actual starry night to end the evening. We have great appreciation for this local bright light and won't hesitate to head back that way for another special occasion. So worth it!
Lovely restaurant in the middle of nowhere. What a surprise! Found it on Google Maps
Always our favorite summer spot, Starry Night Cafe never disappoints. The food is outstanding - fresh, original, beautifully presented & full of nuanced flavors. The wine list is unusually good, year after year. The decor and setting are wonderfully pleasing, and this is one of those spots where once you pass through the rustic wooden front door, the world goes away for a few quiet moments (or hours). You will not be disappointed if you pick this for your next special dinner occasion.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Starry Night Cafe on Wednesday night. The seating was lovely, the service was impeccable and the food was perfection. From our locally-sourced appetizer to our fresh greens to the best Seafood Cioppino ever to our delectable dessert replete with Happy Anniversary penned in chocolate around the rim, we left completely satiated, albeit not overly full. Local brew for him and lovely Pinot Noir for moi during the meal, followed by fresh coffee with dessert, completed our celebratory dining experience. While we were slightly dressed up, the come-as-you-are attire (including shorts and sandals) made everyone comfortable and welcome. I would highly recommend Starry Night Cafe without any reservation ~ but do make a seating reservation! I used Open Table. Enjoy!
From start to finish a disappointment. Ice water tasted of sulfa which means it was tap water (local water known to be sulfa). Meals were “petite” in size but “grande” in price! Bar poorly stocked with liquor unless you like wine.
Lovely service, food and ambiance! The corn risotto was delicious!
Loved the creative ceviche and the salsa in my yellow-fin tuna dish was very flavorful. We ate in the bar this time but prefer the dining room. There is also outside dining. One of my friends had a calamari with an interesting curry sauce.
Terrific evening, heard so much about this place, we weren’t let down, everything was top notch, tried all the specials, drink, salad and main course, didn’t disappoint, we will be back!
It was amazing but a bit stuffy feeling...would love it even more if it felt a bit more fun & relaxed. Seems VT doesn’t know how to be upscale & relaxed @ same time. Lol.
It was the 18th anniversary of our first date and we couldn't have asked for a more romantic evening. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
We have been there a number of times. This is the first time we have had poor service. Hopefully an anomaly. We will go back and try it again
Food was very good, service was good but challenged. Our meal started off really well, with drinks, bread, appetizer and salads delivered pleasantly and with good pace. Then, we waited a very long time for our entree, and again for dessert. Our servers apologized for the delays, noting the presence of a very large party in the main dining room. We were very disappointed by the management of the evening. This is a special event for us and we were looking forward to a pleasant evening. Starry Night made us feel like we were less important than the large party they were hosting.
One of the best, most consistent restaurants in Vermont!
If you are driving along Route 7 between Middlebury and Burlington you could easily miss the unassuming facade of Starry Night Cafe. But once inside, you will be greatly surprised at the size of the establishment--there is a screened-in porch and an open patio, in addition to the two dining rooms. The service is impeccable, and the menu is diverse and unique. Definitely worth a stop, or a detour, for the Starry Night Cafe.
We have visited Starry Night Cafe many times for dinner over the years and have never been disappointed in any aspect of the dining experience.
First visit- staff was incredibly friendly and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Appetizers looked amazing. Blue cheese gratin was incredible. Pork was good, but not exceptional. Beef tenderloin was tender and perfect.
Great service by the staff. Very attentive. Excellent food. Definitely coming back.
