Starr Boggs Ratings and Reviews
We read reviews online and also had a recommendation from local customers. Restaurant was lovely and the food was outstanding. The waiter recommended both the dishes my husband and I ordered and they were both delicious. Appetizers were great. They had a nice wine list and drinks were good. We had a great experience and will go back again for sure.
It was all so disappointing. We requested to be seated outside when we booked on Open Table. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we were told the tables were all taken. We waited forever for our drinks. Our Caesar salads were less than fabulous. My husband said his steak was good, as was my lobster. The thing is-I didn't want lobster. I'm gluten- free and my choices were very limited. We won't go back.
Whenever we have guests we have them take us to Star Bogg's. We usually absolutely love it. My two favorite dishes are the duck and the flounder. My flounder was very oily so lacked the usual flavor and our friends both ordered the duck. The duck was fabulous but the wild rice was very watery. It was after the season so maybe they lost some of their summer help because this was the first time I have been disappointed.
We sat on the patio surrounded by beautiful flowers and gardens. Service was excellant as well as the wonderful cuisine. Great starters followed by duck for my guest and Mediteranean sea food soup for me. Ambience of background music and guest chatter created good energy.
I wish this fabulous restaurant was open all year and not just the summer season.
I would have given a top review had my service been better. Our server never suggested that there were specials. I ask to ask several times for water and lemons. After waiting for the water he forgot the lemons. He was asked two additional al times until he got it right. My wine glass was empty for quite sometime before he asked if I would like another glass. The meal was superb. Everything tasty and cooked to perfection. I will return with the hopes of far better service.
Seated on enclosed porch: cold evening we all had to keep our coats on. Pre fixed dinner menu for three at $35 pp: a few cocktails which we so awful ( no dessert or coffee); bill over $230. So you can do that math.. drinks more than food. Food was mediocre and service as well. Bar area nice and ambiance in other rooms (a converted one story house) may have been better. None of us finished the food.. just not at all appealing. My soft shell crabs were cold.
Wanted to like this highly rated and well located spot but can't in sincerity recommend it; totally packed so maybe we have it wrong or hit a bad night. Also admit to being spoiled by so many wonderful meals in NYC.
We had early dinner at Starr Boggs on a Thursday night at 5:30 and took advantage of the $35 two course prix fixe. It was delicious and lovely. We arrived a little early and had some quality time and delicious cocktails at the outdoor patio bar where the mood was light. They came and got us when it was 5:30 and brought us to our table in a quiet corner of the restaurant. The special menu was long and varied. When the food arrived it was hot and spot on. The service was professional, efficient and friendly but not too friendly. We look forward to returning in a few weeks for this early special. What a value, and what a pleasant experience! We're very pleased to live near this sophisticated neighborhood gem.
The inside dining room which is where we were first seated was unbearably cold. We asked to be moved and we were moved to a table outside which was covered with flies. The hostess recognized the fly issue and moved us to the edge of the terrace.
Very buggy on the terrace. Service was acceptable.
Food-mediocre. Not worth the experience.
I have been to Starr's many times over the years. This visit was below par- mixed seafood entree the halibut was Luke warm at best. Service definitely not as attentive as it usually is - especially when I reserved on Open Table leaving a note that it was an Anniversary Dinner. Disappointed.
The porterhouse steak for two was delectable. Our server was sure it was medium rare and served it table side. The martinis , made just the way we asked and the wine were high quality spirits. Our server was attentive and professional. A great restaurant. Love the original Warhols.
This is a gem that has stood the test of time. We have been here on 4-5 different occasions over the last year and a few times with friends - there is never an issue with the ambiance, food presentation, food or service! This is truly a wonderful dining experience.
This was a first visit to Starr Boggs. The staff, service and food were very, very good. Our waiter, Peter, was sensitive to our needs (my husband has food allergies). The food was delicious. My only criticism would be that it was rather loud. But everything else about the restaurant made up for the noise. I would definitely go there again if I visit Westhampton, NY.
Consistently fine. Food was sensational, a little nonsense with where to seat us but we ended up in the garden (where we wanted to be), the waiter was attentive and courteous, service was excellent, definitely the best restaurant in the Westhampton area. Prices are not cheap but the quality and quantity of food make it worthwhile.
