I have eaten at Starbelly twice in the last couple of weeks. I was super disappointed with this last visit. Food was just okay, service was not great, and it is over priced for what you get at this time.
I won't be back again soon.
First time visiting Starbelly with one of my best friends. The ambiance was perfect, it was quiet with the soft sound of music in the background. It was a good atmosphere to catch up with my friend and to say my "See ya laters" as I will be moving away.
I had the fish tacos and they were delicious! My friend raved about the spaghetti/pasta dish he ordered. For beverages, we both had the white sangria, which was nice to sip on as we were catching up.
I recommend eating here. The next time I come back to San Francisco, I've already got my eye on the PEI mussels and chorizo dish!
See ya later, Starbelly! Can't wait to come back to see you!
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. We were celebrating a birthday and it was perfect.
Great food and great patio. Good value. Cool crowd.
waiter was amazing! greeter not so much. food was great too! would come again
Delicious variety of food at great value! Dumplings and Brussels sprouts were best appetizers. Solid cocktails and the date cake was superb. Fun to eat on the street and felt protected by the barriers. Service was excellent and everyone careful to wear masks. Packed when we went on a Friday night!
Great service and amazing food and drinks.
I love Starbelly, but visiting during Covid is tough. They insist on you wearing your mask every moment someone comes near the table, which is not a good way to enjoy your meal. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their commitment to safety, but I will wait until things are closer to normal before returning to one of my favorite spots.
We've visited previously and it is always welcoming, on many levels!
Our server was amazing and the food was outstanding. Can't wait to go again.
Great spot to have a brunch. Our server was very friendly and the place followed safety precautions.
This is a great spot for brunch! Varied menu with the dishes you'd expect and some surprises too (chicken and waffles anyone?). The corn pizza is a customer favorite during the summer months. Interesting cocktails too! The service the day we were there was a bit slow -- think they were short-staffed. But the server was very nice and was obviously doing her best. We got comped on a couple of things due to the wait, which was nice. We understand that restaurants and their staff have it tough right now due to Covid and so we were understanding. Great overall experience and will be back.
Wedding anniversary 47 years.
Husband is in wheelchair. Staff could not have been nicer or kinder.
Thankful Starbelly is open during the coronavirus pandemic. The service was outstanding in spite of all the precautions. Usually like the patio but this time tried their new booths on the sidewalk. Well constructed. They bar has always been very good. We had a nice bottle of sparkling Pinot noir from Italy.
Thanks to the Starbelly staff for continuing to be a great neighborhood staple with consistently good food - especially during COVID-19. You make it so we can all appreciate a moment of "normal life" and it is greatly appreciated.
Starbelly is a good neighborhood restaurant in Castro. It's one of the few places with outdoor dining space with full menu and full bar to boot. Food is solid with good selection, from vegetarian to meat dishes. Selection of wine and cocktails are great and reasonably priced. Recommended if you plan to be in the neighborhood .
Starbelly was great in terms of food and service and safety. The occasional street noise just added to the "atmosphere" and we will definitely return.
As we walked in, we were told we have 1hr 15min, so it felt a bit rushed, but I understand that given COVID the experience is a bit different. Great food and cute garden though.
They are working hard to compensate, but COVID restrictions and a limited menu make it hard.
We had lunch at a table on the sidewalk on the restaurant side which has clear dividers between tables - it was cooler on the hot Monday we were there. It was a very enjoyable lunch.
Good food, nothing rare or exceptional. Service was good enough but a little slow/slightly inattentive
Seemed they forgot we had checked in. Got seated 30 minutes after the time of our reservation. They comped us one drink and apologized which was appreciated but maybe could do a better job of tracking guests and turning over tables.
Food was alright, veggie burger fell apart and was more like a quinoa patty. Skimpy on the ketchup for the fries and waiter kept forgetting what we asked for. Ordered a cocktail, that made the outing worth it at least. I would maybe go back, but not enthusiastically.
Always love starbelly Altho the small plates are overpriced. Great patio at back. Unfortunately this time four of us were herded into a small concrete square space seated at metal chairs and table flanked by a shower curtain out the front of the restaurant... but hey, Covid? Perhaps more ideal for a two top than 4.
Another great meal at Starbelly with the brussel sprouts and french fries to start that helped kick start a taste bud bonanza. Covid-19 standards were in order with outside dining, and appropriate distancing. The staff was apporpriately cautious, but it did impact the experience (clearing table of used tableware), but kudos to them for taking protocols seriously.
We loved everything about Starbelly. Felt safe with covid protocols. Our drinks: the margarita verde and the strawberry alarm clock were delicious. I was worried the strawberry would be too sweet but it was perfectly balanced. We had the chicken pate which was recommended by our server and I’m so glad he did. I don’t normally like pate but this was really good not too heavy either. We tried the chicken poboy, which coming from Louisiana this is absolutely not a poboy but was a really good fried chicken sandwich. The slaw was a little wet for my liking and the chicken was on the thinner side but still didn’t ruin the sandwich. Lastly we had the grilled corn pizza, while it was very good, super flavorful and mostly perfectly crispy crust I wouldn’t get this again the middle was almost* soggy with the corn and lime aioli. I also didn’t love the lime aioli but I’m not a big citrus fan. My friend on the other hand loved it and would get it a million times over. Overall a solid wonderful meal and we will definitely be back to try more.
It’s just weird eating in restaurants during Covid. Wearing masks, tables few and far. Missing all the energy of eating out it actually felt a bit sad. Understanding stsrbelly did the best they can in this situation. Next time will get take out!!
Overall, my party enjoyed our dining experiencing.
Lovely outdoor seating and fabulous staff. Love the host.
Excellent! Service was great, food was delicious.
Promptly sat for our reservation, we’re informed of they length we could maintain the table, which was also noted at the time of the reservation, quickly served and the food and drinks were delicious. Safe and spacious atmosphere.
I ordered the Fried Chicken Po’Boy....definitely a poor boy. The piece of chicken they served me was the thickness of 2 slices of bologna. There was more Cole slaw than chicken. It was quite disappointing. But the fries they served with it was very good. At least they didn’t mess that up.
Parklet is well set up and adds more seating out front. Great food and service as always!
The shaded patio was perfect this warm and slightly smoky day. The safety precautions were spot-on. Seating our party of 2 side by side is exactly what we’d been hoping for, too! The staff was kind and gracious. I can’t wait to come back
James was an absolutely great server and I will be coming back to the restaurant because of him.
Took forever to get assisted even though I had a reservation and it was not busy at all.
Birthday (covid style) dinner.
Starbelly was great. The online booking process for their outdoor spaces were really easy to use. Additionally, their service was pretty strict about wearing masks until you are ready to eat/drink. The spacing between people was comfortable enough to feel safe.
One of my favorites before Covid and during. The outside sidewalk seating is nice and feels safe. The back patio is great too and tables are used as spacers to keep eaters safely distanced. Cocktails and food is great per usual, and service is friendly and welcoming.
This is the first time eating out with my friend since March. I appreciate that the tables in the patio is at least 6 feet apart from different parties. Menu is available via scanning the QR code; servers are very conscious about keeping the distance from us while taking our orders and serving drinks and food. The most important part is that the food and drinks are just as good as how I remember it. Great job. Look forward to my next outing at Starbelly.
