Had a nice dinner out for Mother’s Day weekend with three adult children home for the weekend. We were seated outdoors in the parklet. Cars and traffic made some noise but wasn’t bad. Heaters overhead kept us warm when needed. Great food and service. Recommended!
A nice location with great service. Good was pretty good, and I’d honestly go back just for their kind service.
We were there for brunch the day before Mother's Day. I had requested patio seating, but was told when we arrived that that had filled up by the time we made the request and were seated at street seating. The street seating was nicely arranged and worked well, but it would have been nice to know that the patio seating was not available before we arrived, so we could have made a different choice if desired. The food was fine, decent but unexceptional. The service was mostly indifferent--one of the 3 servers was actually pleasant. Perfectly serviceable, but in a city swimming in good choices, not one that stood out.
We were given a very crappy table, the two of us facing a dark wall with no lighting. The server made no mention of it. The cocktails were mediocre, and had overpowering flavors/sweetness. The food was decent.
Overall not a bad restaurant, but nothing to write home about.
Great food and cocktails
So glad that they have seating options: back patio, parklet and indoors!
Delicious food, friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere.
We had a great time here even though a few wait staff were readjusting to being open The two men manning the reservations were outstanding and really working hard for the customers. That’s why I gave them an outstanding. These two guys were great
Always a nice place to eat.
The patio is delightful. Food is a treat.
Truly horrible service! If you don't want to serve customers, find another business!
The wait staff and ambiance of this establishment are very good. The cocktails here are tasty as well. As far as food is concerned, I ordered the Po'Boy Chicken Sandwich with fries. The chicken sandwich was decent, but needed more seasoning and the breading was a bit over cooked. The fries were very tasty. I would dine here again, but I would try a different main course. Overall, I recommend this establishment.
Fish tacos are excellent. Salad dressing was too vinegary. Deserts are OK, but not great.. It's nice to be back in restaurants again, but the decor was a bit dark and we were jammed up against a wall. Our waiter was very attentive.
Beautiful brunch spot in SF. Food was rock solid-- fried chicken was as advertised, a signature dish. Giving 4/5 stars only because we expected the cocktails to be better...a tad watered down for what seemed like a high quality bar. Would go back, if nothing else for the fact that we can get a reservation for quality brunch in extremely busy SF brunch scene.
We had a great time ... we enjoy it very much. Friendly staffs , good foods and cocktail. Spaghetti with bacon jalapenos was my favorite and my friend got chicken burger also delicious. We can use more variety of food, after all we're happy 👍🏻
Had a reservation for 8 but didn’t get seated until 8:20. However, they were very accommodating once seated
The wait staff here will not get within a certain radius of your table if you are the only three brown folks there. No silverware, no water refill, have to flag down for everything, no thank you for coming, no how are you doing. Every SINGLE table with white folks nearby got those things without question. Luckily there was a Chicano busser who took care of us and did the waiter’s job.
Terrible experience, bad service and won’t be returning.
Server forgot to put in part of our order
I have a crush on the adorable waiter... ☺️
Delicious starters. Try the mussels and the Brussels. Fish tacos are amazing. Bottled Wine is limited right now due to the pandemic. But prior to the closure they had good wine options. Highly recommend. There is seating both inside and out. There is a front parklet and a back patio. Enjoy.
We liked they gave free coffee! It’s was great coffee
We eat there alot. The restaurant was busy Monday night. We came with 6 people. The service was slower than usual. The burger and the fish tacos were over cooked. Everything seemed a bit cold by the time it arrived and not your usual quality. I was disappointed because these were people new to this restaurant. I will return as I am guessing it was an off night. Thanks, Julie
Food and service were great. Prices are very reasonable
Food was delicious. Took a long time to get tho. understanding that pandemic making all restaurants short-staffed. it was a fun lunch !
Brunch was tasty, service was good, prices are mostly reasonable for what you get. 5% political health care surcharge added to your check.
it was good but portions were small for cost. the menu didn't really come together
Very good food. We got the chicken sandwich and the spaghetti. Both were very good. The service was a little slow and hard to get the attention of a waiter, but that's mainly up to pandemic restrictions and inability to hire a full staff.
We were underwhelmed by the restaurant. The menu had so many options from various cuisines except for people who have gluten allergies/sensitivities. The only thing on the menu I could eat was the lamb or cornmeal tacos. The tacos were good, but nothing special. They didn’t rotate their winter menu to reflect spring flavors (online their winter menu is the same as the spring).
It took the server 20 min to bring water upon sitting down and we didn’t get our drinks until AFTER our food which was frustrating to me and not the way it should work when you order drinks first. I recommend sitting out in the patio as it’s the warmest and has the most ambiance of you can chose. Inside was fine but we didn’t get first pick for our seating preference.
Always love eating on the back patio. The fried chicken sandwich is heavenly, yummy cocktails too!
Table is not ready when we arrive at the reserved time and service is not very good.
Menu is limited compared to what it was, but whose isn't currently? Everything there is delicious.
Delicious food, accommodating servers, an overall great time
This place has good food at a decent price, but the staff was over whelmed when we were there. On Saturday at 12:30, the only host to check us in was also frantically waiting tables. We waited at the host stand for literally for 10 minutes with other waiters yelling "someone will be right with you". After we checked in for our reservation, we waited 20 minutes standing out front when we could see empty tables. When I went in to check the previous host was behind the bar taking some kind of pills, (aspirin I hope) . Another waiter came to ask me what I wanted, when I said we had been waiting 20 minutes for a 12:30 reservation we had checked in for, he looked embarrassed and seated us immediately. Get a new host!
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The server was short and didn’t even bring us plates when food arrived. We had to ask for plates, and he acknowledged, but still didn’t arrive until after we waited over 15 minutes and started eating so the food wouldn’t get cold. Mind you, it was not a busy night. Though, how did he expect us to have our meal?We also felt rushed as if we were inconveniencing the staff. Though there were plenty of parties still enjoying their meals. In a world where this was not a possibility, one would hope that servers would be more enthused to welcomed guest back to dining experiences. Would not recommend if you are looking for hospitality.
I’m pretty bummed at how terrible the service was here. We were looking forward to trying Starbelly and supporting local now that restaurants are able to serve indoors. When we arrived, they made 3 out of 4 in our party stand outside in the cold until the fourth arrived. I can understand that part, but the front host area was chaos. We stood there for five minutes until someone finally asked if we had a reservation. Once we were seated, our drinks took 20 minutes to get to us. It was incredibly drafty and cold at our table, but we chalked that up to COVID protocol. However, once our food arrived, our waiter didn’t come back to our table. Not to check on the food, ask how things were, nothing. After half an hour, we had to politely signal him to get more drinks. The attitude he have us was astounding. He was exasperated and annoyed. Once we had our drinks, another staff person came over and frustratingly asked if he could clear our glasses because “the people with the next reservation are waiting outside.” We had only been there for an hour and a half. He could have at least apologized for the rush and asked us nicely to start wrapping up. We wouldn’t have minded.
I loved the food. I was really excited to try this place and I’m so sad at how we were treated. We tipped well but it was because we know the service industry is struggling. We are also in the industry and know how hard it is right now. But this level of service for a Michelin Guide restaurant surprised us.
A late review: Dined during SFRW and their $15 lunch was a can’t miss. I chose the chicken liver pâté that came with warm grilled bread, onion marmalade and mustard, and the chicken po boy that is the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve had. Given this excellent first experience at Starbelly, I shall return to try their other dishes. Atmosphere is casual, most diners opted for the heated back patio. Service is fine.
Most of the food was mediocre. Under seasoned, greasy, a few things in my entree were left completely unseasoned, just cooked
The servers were attentive and excellent, food delicious. It was the first time in over a year that my husband and I were able to dine with friends. Thank you Dr. Fauci
I look forward to a more expanded (non Covid) menu as the seasons progress.
Our group of 5 had never been there before. We all loved our lunch and we tried a variety of your menu items . The back garden was lovely. We will be back.
Great value for restaurant week meal. Good choices, and I opted for the extra dessert which was amazing. Ambiance and service were great. I felt safe.
