Everything was delicious and the staff was very courteous. The restaurant is beautiful and very open. Amazing meal all around!
I had the tasting dinner. My husband ordered an entree and salad. He sampled my courses which were generous and quite delicious. The service is excellent. We will definitely return.
second time, birthdays both times. tasting menu + wine pairing + attentive staff = wonderful experience.
The chef’s menu is the way to go. The food just keeps on coming and each plate is top notch with a bit of adventure thrown in. The service has been excellent both times we have been there and since we usually tip 20%, we have no problem with the tip included in the bill.
we had the chef's menu with wine pairing
the wines were very good...
the fried oysters were so plain.... didn't add... actually detracted from the very high quality of all the other food
serves were perfectly prompt and attentive.... patient... the best
For those that bring their own wine and are paying a corkage fee why not offer to decant the wine or offer decanting for all bottles of wine whether purchased at restaurant or brought from home.
It was my first time and both my boyfriend and I had a wonderful time ! Tom and Chance where amazing. We did The Tasting menu . Way to go !!
The tasting menu was a great value, 4 courses for only $55. The food was excellent and plenty of it. We hadn't been here for a few years and had out of town guests, they thoroughly enjoyed dining here. Would highly recommend.
Great food with excellent service. We had a multitude of food items that needed to be avoided and they accommodated all of them easily with tasty and attractive entrees throughout. Not our first time nor our last. Highly recommended!
Absolutely fantastic service. Excellent food and drinks. I would go there again without hesitation. Definitely one of Seattle's best.
Took my wife there for a surprise romantic dinner and we really enjoyed the service and food. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to treat your spouse to a great all around experience in fine wine and food.
The tasting menu is what we come for and it had never disappointed.
The tasting menu is excellent. It’s a lot of food so come hungry!
We did the tasting menu and it was exceptional. Our favorite was the gnocchi in a white meat sauce, but almost every dish was incredible. Our waitress was really friendly and provided great service. Definitely a new favorite spot for us.
We ordered chefs choice, gluten free, fish and four legs. All the food was great.
Great - sat close to the door and when people would come I. It would get really cold
Everything I had was delicious, it was an great experience.
The food was fantastic!
We were told by others that Staple and Fancy has two options: you may order directly from the menu (the staple) or you may hand the menu back to the waiter for a fixed dinner (the fancy), which changes daily. Everyone told us to go with the fancy and were not disappointed! We were told it would include 4 courses, consisting of an appetizer, pasta, entree, and dessert. From start to finish, the food presentation was amazing and there was not a single thing we didn't like. The only critique was that we were so full by the end that we could barely eat dessert (but somehow...managed!).
Highly recommended and definitely go with the fancy!
Great food, not many vegetarian options. Also 20% tip is included in your bill.
S&F has yet to disappoint! We got the tasting menu, chefs choice, and loved every dish. Just an exceptional experience that we've now shared with friends twice and making new fans!
It was our anniversary, and the wait staff made us feel feted and special!
The Staff! the FOOD!!! What a great dinner. We had the tasting menu, champagne, cocktails, and every bite was amazing. The staff was professionally knowledgeable, passionate, and just awesome. The Chef even came to greet our table and talk about how excited he was about what he made, and that excitement was reflected in the food.
My boyfriend and I recently dined at Staple and Fancy to celebrate our anniversary, and we actually flew all the way in from Hawaii to do just that. As usual the tasting menu was superb and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that our evening was as memorable as we hoped. Seriously from the host podium, tableside service, and then even the chef came out from the kitchen to greet us- just an awesome staff. Out of all the tasting menus I have experienced in the pnw, theirs has to be the most eclectic with seasonal changes and courses upon courses. Nothing short of spectacular from beginning to end.
Had a wonderful experience the food and service was second to none. We generally go to Staple and Fancy for occasions but recommend it for a great dining experience.
We ordered the tasting menu as usual and they were very accommodating to our lactose intolerant friend as well. The pork and beef pasta was my favorite but the salad and cod (entree) was exquisite as well. They never disasapoint with their tasting menu and the server's service is always very friendly and professional. I would be back again for any special occasion and would recommend to anyone that is looking for delicious and creative food with a great ambience.
This is our new favourite place. We had the tasting menu at it did not disappoint. It was an amazing experience and we look forward to visiting again!
This is an Ethan Stowell restaurant, all of which now charge a 20% service fee,, minimum, no choice in the matter. Our server certainly did not provide service at that level. I requested a bottle of wine to placed in an ice/water bath at tableside to cool it quickly after the bottle was placed in a cooled non-bath container, which was inadequate to cool the wine in the time I wished. My request was ignored. A more important issue which will result in me NEVER again eating at an ES restaurant is the 20% charge on food and wine was added to the total, then tax was applied to that total including tax on the service charge. That is OUTRAGEOUS, and probably illegal. If I were to leave a tip based on total check, it would not be taxed.
Such great service and the food was amazing. They kept the bread coming which is always a plus! I love the atmosphere and music was really good haha will be back
Went for an anniversary dinner and did the tasting menu. Four courses - a variety of appetizers, a pasta, a protein and dessert.
We probably had 6 different appetizer tastings in the first course, and I'd say that 2/6 were worth telling about - the carrots with ricotta and burnt honey, and the fried oysters. The others fell a little flat, nothing too noteworthy.
We had a delicious rigatoni pasta as our main dish, with an incredible sauce. However I'd say the serving was about twice as large as it could have been. Great value, I suppose, but after getting hit quickly with appetizers one after another, this large pasta dish was a little menacing and our self-control was not ready, so we over-ate prior to receiving the protein and dessert. Pace yourself on the pasta course and maybe bring home 1/3-1/2 of it in a box!
The protein was a very tender braised pork shoulder, served with a puree and balsamic reduction along with seasonal mushrooms and the like. Great flavor and quality again.
Cheesecake with a home-made strawberry jam for dessert, the best strawberry jam I've ever had. Always thought strawberry jam was a little boring, and prefer nearly any other flavor, but I am converted for this one alone. Great finish to a quality meal.
Wouldn’t accept our Open table reservation and put us at the bar. Hostess didn’t ask to take our coats so we had to sit with wet jackets. Order a $7.5 glass of wine but was charged $15 and 20% service charge which came to $19.
The Seawolf Baguette was great- so was the butter, but was seriously over salted with Maldon.
The steak dish was atrociously rare and tough- and it wasn't wagyu. I cannot believe it wasn't comped, as we had to send it back the first time because was so incredibly rare- and I like ate steak. It was nearly still breathing. Second time around it was still tough in addition to now being well done. We wanted medium rare. No mention of it at the end and we left almost the whole second plate unfinished. And sill paid $28 for it; this is one of the ttackier hospitalitty experiences I've had. At a place like this I honestly canttt believe they didn't take it off the tab....it's principle. This was quite possibly the worst steak I have ever had; and absolutely the worst wagyu. Howwwww do you mess that up??anyyway the only thing saving the night was the ravioli with pepitas, squash and mascarpone. I won't be back and will never recommend.
Love their tasting menu, very creative and tasty. Will go back again for sure.
Splendid time. I went for Seattle Restaurant Week. Always a divine coming here. There are many factors to why this is my favorite restaurant.
They accommodated and modified the SRW menu to fix my preference for no cheese.
We are greeted by several staff members. They really do work as a team.
Each course was brought out by a different team member.
Went for Restaurant Week, and was pleasantly surprised to realize that our special menu included a number of appetizers. It felt like we were provided an opportunity to try a lot of the food items and they were all so amazing! This was my second timing going to Staple and Fancy and I can't deny how great the flavors are in each dish.
I've been to Staple & Fancy for a group dinner and a date night, and both times it was amazing. The pasta was delicious and the service was stellar. They are really on it here!
They always do a nice job and the waitstaff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
This was our second time dining at Staple and Fancy and this dinner was just as good as the first! We never order, just go with the Chef's menu, so you never know what you're going to get but it's all good! And so much food we could hardly keep up! Highly recommend!
I was there was seattle restaurant week and they killed it. Everything I ordered was delicious! I loved that they give you a little bit of everything for appetizers. I think my favorite was the bruschetta. The goat cheese and grilled pear was everything! The rigatoni was so yummy! My friend kept taking some off of my plate. I finished the meal off with the panna cotta ❤️
We went for Restaurant Week and received ALL of the listed appetizers in addition to our choice of one entree and one dessert. It ended up being more than we could eat, but it was all delicious and well worth the cost for Restaurant Week. We will return sans event to try the restaurant's full menu.
