Stanley & Seafort's Ratings and Reviews
It was a Date Night with my Wife and we wanted to try out a new steakhouse. We were going to be in Tacoma for the day so after some Steakhouse Googling, I picked this one to try. We weren't disappointed. Right as you walk in and look to the right you have a beautiful view of the DT Tacoma skyline and The Dome, simply beautiful, especially since it was a clear Saturday Night and no rain!. Next the staff was exceptional. Friendly when checking in, even on a night where it was extremely busy. We made our way into the bar since we got there a little earlier than our 2030 reservation. The bartenders were pretty cool and friendly. We ended up dining at the bar since they had a table available in the room. Our Server was Jose. Nothing less than exceptional service from him. Stopped by frequently and always asked if there was anything else he can get for Us or if we had any questions about the menu. The food did take a little longer to come out but My Wife and I were informed beforehand that they were a little backed up. We had no problem since we were enjoying the night there and Jose was keeping us well hydrated and brought that garlic bread by the entire time. Finally the food gets to the table (NY Steak for the Wife and 10 oz. Filet Mignon for Me) and..... Drooooool...... Well worth the wait. Food was perfectly cooked as ordered and tasted amazing. We ended the night with a couple more drinks and Key Lime Pie, which neither of Us had before and even that was incredible!!! All around, highly recommend for a couple's Date Night or if you want to splurge one night. We'll definitely be going back.
What a huge disappointment. We are from out of town. I have always wanted to try Stanley and Seafort's as I have driving by this many times along the freeway. We both ordered the Wagyu steak and what we thought we would receive was nothing close. The service was so slow. The steak was dead cold. We advised the waitress... she took the platers and returned 5 mins later and all they did was throw the old cold steak on the grill to flash grill it. The Wagyu was horrible by this point. This establishment needs to do better. I would never return. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Horrible food-inedible...raw scallops that smelled bad, over cooked salmon and rubbery lobster. Our dinner took 3 hours to arrive. Half our groups’ food was in the window for awhile so everything came out really reheated tasting. They comped us and explained they were embarrassed because they had over 400 diners when they were expecting 200. It seems like a lame excuse since this restaurant has been around forever. We will never be back, even if it’s free.
We celebrated a wedding anniversary this evening. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a window seat and a nice note congratulating us. The server was nice and attentive but forgot to bring us the wine we ordered with dinner. She did however buy desert for us which was very nice.
Meeting good friends returning from recent trip. Really good table-waitress was exceptional, handled our "banter" really well. Nice view--was able to order the "lunch-Combo" and "found" a most wonderful Sauvignon Blanc---"Grieve" from CA that made for a most memorable afternoon---two bottles--just great!!!!
The food was amazing ! Our server was so pleasant and attentive. Great value for the food we ordered. 6 persons in our group and we all ordered something different. Could not believe how everyone said their food was excellent. We will be back. Prices are very comparable to those establishments on the waterfront, but you sure get more for your buck. We will be back. Oh, by the way, the view was incredible.
Food was good, but service was very poor. Long wait times between courses and two requested items never showed up. This included coffee (requested with dessert) that never came! We have had our anniversary (#34 in this case) dinner here over 20 times and have always had excellent service in the past. That is why we were so very disappointed this visit. Was also disappointed that when I booked the reservation I noted our anniversary and even though there was a nice card on the table acknowledging the event, they seated us at a table for 4 in the middle of an isle with alot of foot traffic from both customers and wait staff. I expected a more private booth as we always had in the past. This was not a good dining experience.
The experience was great until one of our dishes was not available a half hour after we ordered. That would have been fine though, if the other 4 dishes had not come out cold with the replacement dish. The pasta’s were cold along with cold and hard shrimp, the New York steak was cold and more medium rare rather than medium well as ordered, and the veggies with the two steaks and salmon were cold.
The appetizers were great! The drinks were great! The server was not around much, so refills on beer did not happen even when they said they were bringing another one.
I have only been here a couple times and the first time was all good, with this time not so much. I will try again some time hopefully as to not give up on hopefully an isolated incident.
Started off with a manager in a suit who wouldn’t stop staring at my wife - she looked good but it’s rude to stare at someone and make them uncomfortable - 3 or 4 times. The waiter was aloof and obviously didn’t like working there - saw him after we were first seated then 15 minutes later - finally got order taken - wasn’t offered bread like in the past - asked for it when we ordered. Food came fast and was a mess on the plate - potatoes and vegetables had blood on them which covered the plate with the prime rib. The bread came as we were finishing eating - we had to ask a bus boy because the waiter disappeared. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and could barely hear each other we were so close to the table behind us. The bill was dropped off and picked up with no words spoken - we didn’t complain at all so not sure why the waiter was so impersonal. Not coming back - even for Tacoma the service was terrible.
The lobster bisque and french onion soup are the best I've ever had! My fiance had the burger which was really good and big. I had the mahi mahi which was on the chefs special and it was tiny and dry, we will go back but I probably won't get fish again. Service wasn't bad but it was busy so it was a little slow. Get a table next to the window if you can the view of Tacoma at sunset is beautiful.
First time here, I wanted a nice restaurant with steak on the menu to celebrate my husband's birthday. He ended up getting one of the specials the tomahawk pork chop which looked beautiful and delicious cranberry mixture on top, red wine demiglaze, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. The taste was great, recommended by our waiter and I normally don't order steak but the Prime rib sounded amazing so I had that, went with the 12oz and it was delicious same sides. We shared a key lime pie that came with a lemon sorbet to clear your pallet which was tasty and refreshing. My hubby asked for an extra so we could each enjoy. Great meal, ambience great. Very happy with our meal. Can't wait to come back. Birthday boy was very pleased, presentation great, and very satisfying.
We do enjoy this restaurant and go for family special occasions. We love the view the most. And appreciate options for teenagers (nice burger) while the adults enjoy a steak. We choose to go this time to celebrate our 15 year olds birthday and the timing of receiving a coupon in the mail worked out perfectly!
Our waitress created a dinner menu that didn't exist; vegetable stir fry with fruit appetizer. She was great!
Lobster bisque incredible with the homemade bread. Salmon was good, not sure that it was fresh though as menu stated. Crème brulae (sp) excellent!
Overall an excellent experience again. As we love to occasion this restaurant.
We were welcomed with Warm woods and marble inlays that were nice touches and makes one feel spoiled. The food display and service were superb and I loved their house Chardonay! Christopher was very attentive to our wants and needs, almost intuitive! Looking forward to coming back soon. Great place for a family meal or an intimate dinner with that Special person. I noticed about halfway through my meal that my husband and I had the exact same thing, although we did not order the exact same thing. There were clues that things weren’t right and then a gentleman who worked there stopped and asked why we ordered the same thing. I brought it up to my waitress and she explained that she would adjust the price on the meal which was $3. I didn’t like the fact that she didn’t understand that I ordered something completely different than my husband. I felt like she was trying to convince me that no mistake was made even though when I got my bill low and behold I was charged for two of the exact same meal and she did not adjust the price. I felt as if I was inconveniencing her by asking and just had a horrible time after that. I was looking forward to dessert and ended up not ordering just cuz I was in a bad mood from the experience. The food was pretty good besides the undercooked veggies. The restaurant is beautiful and has a great vibe as well as view. I’m not sure if we will return or not just because the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
The food was good but the lights were so dim that we had a hard time reading the menus. It was also freezing in the entire restaurant. When we got the bill it was much higher than we thought the dinner was worth.
We had to park across a street, with no crosswalk, in the dark.
I will not be returning.
When we arrived it took almost 5 minutes before we were taken care of even though the place was almost empty. That phone kept ringing but a manager stood by it looking at a piece of paper while it kept ringing. Our Server looked like a slob. He had what looked like flour all over his butt and shirt was half untucked. My wife ordered rice and got over done patatos. Brussel sprouts were hard. When rice arrived it was sticky. Almost empty place when we arrived but we sat for 5 minutes before service. Table for 6 next to us was emptying when we arrived but not cleaned off for 40 minutes. So we had to look at the mess. We have always enjoyed the restaurant but the staff was more interested in setting up for later patrons for New Years Eve than taking care of us mid afternoon customers.
Our experience was AMAZING.....until we found out that our server (Jessica) mistakenly "misunderstood" our boxing needs and threw our food away!! Although she "made it better" by making us a new dish..it still made us late to our next event. I would not have "tipped" as much as we did before I did knowing we were not "that important".....I'd avoid it overall. The food is good....but, you can be treated much better at places that will treat u well and not judge you for so much cheaper!!
I had a reservation at 7:00 and not seated till 7:30 I then ordered an Appetizer and it took 45 minutes I then ordered a steak for us both and it took over an hour . We had clam chowder and a salad thinking it would be served right away and got them 45 minutes later by the time we got everything it was after 9:00 and people were cleaning up. Very disappointed. Was our first date. Our bill was $191.00 dollars and got $10.00 wort of service. I have recommended your place many times because I have occasionally dined there for appetizers and drinks and the food smell so great but my date was disappointing and I had to apologies for you to her because I spoke highly of you. I don't think I'm going to get a second date.
