Out-of-state friends; picked them up at Amtrak down the hill; a birthday for one of them; they were most complimentary and I was delighted to have them with me! The Birthday Girl was treated to your delicious crème brulee - and 3 spoons!!!!!
The food here has gone downhill over the years. I was very disappointed. It was very busy and although we had a reservation, we waited an hour. I ordered shrimp and grits for an appetizer. The price was about $16 for 4 medium size prawns and super gritty grits that are supposed to be smooth. The manager asked me if I liked them I I told him what I thought. He asked if he could get me a different appetizer and I declined. I also still paid for that appetizer. I ordered parmigian crusted halibut cheeks that were undercooked. My husband ordered a huge steak medium rare which was over cooked. The service was excellent considering how busy she was. Won’t be going back again.
Food was excellent only recommendation would be if waitress has 2 big groups don’t have her wait on a table of 2 service was slow because of that not her fault though
Service was great, good was amazing, even my picky eater of a toddler ate his fish.
I had an email for a free starter crab and artichoke , both of us are allergic asked to exchange and we got the Brie it was wonderful. Our salad, main course and dessert were all super
Have had good meals in years past. Friend told me he was disappointed but thought I would give them a try again. Was very disappointed prime rib was tough my wife's halibut cheeks were on the Freshman you but tasted fishy fresh fish does not taste fishy I am a fisherman I would know. Service was poor ask for extra bread for meal never came sharper knife to cut prime rib was brought to 3/4 the way through the meal hopefully they'll improve in the future
The service was terribly slow for 5:15. I would expect that at 7:30 on a Saturday, but dinner took 3 hours and not because we were driving that pace. I have been going to S&S for 25 years and they have yet to update the women’s bathroom - really poor shape. No purse or coat hooks in the stalls, just completely worn down.
Great view, excellent service, so-so food
We would go back again for Tacoma restaurant week because it is a good deal. The ambiance is
great as is the service But linen napkins and table cloths aside, the food is so so. Three of us had prime rib which was excellent. However, the au gratin side was soupy and the vegetables nicely varied but over cook. The fourth person had fish which she said tasted fishy and was not fresh. She did not eat any of her entree and very little else. The key lime pie dessert was mostly whip cream. The burnt cream was very good. Restaurant week is a great deal at $30 for entree, salads and dessert. We might go again next year However, the food does not warrant the hefty usual price. It is expensive
A special place for a special occasion. Felt like being welcomed home to a home cooked meal.
Stanley and Seaforts is a Tacoma classic. Perched on top of the hill above Commencement Bay, it has a grand view of Tacoma and all that is North of it. The food is exceptional as well as the service and the bar is a great place to grab a drink if you go early.
The French onion soup is my favorite and the steaks are cooked to perfection.
The food was great and the service was prompt. Even though it's a drive for me I will be going back.
We are from out of town, and were looking for a place to take our daughter to celebrate her 19th birthday. The staff made it a memorable occasion, and the food and drinks were outstanding! This is now our new favorite place to a special meal in the Tacoma area.
We were seated promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us periodically through the meal. We started with drinks-a margarita and a glass of wine. Both were good, although I didn't need THAT much ice in my drink. Then we split a bowl of lobster bisque. They brought it out in two small cups for us. The bisque was the best I've had at S&S. The bisque usually includes small pieces of lobster but this time each of our cups had two large pieces of lobster. Oh so tasty! My wife ordered the chicken tortellini and I had the grilled Mahi. The tortellini was very good but alas, the Mahi was overcooked and quite chewy. I ordered a second margarita because I noticed that they used a habanero syrup on a different drink so I asked to have the syrup added to the margarita. Good choice! That drink was excellent! Just how I like them. We finished off with their seasonal dessert: a strawberry rhubarb crisp. We ended on a high note as the dessert was oh so good...warm and topped with ice cream and berries.
I rated the food poor, only because 2 of our items were so disappointing. We each had a 3
course dinner. My Pea Salad came with perhaps 2 T of salad on some snap peas and lots
of lettuce. Looked sad. My husband's Chicken Dijon came burned and was sooooo thin it
was pathetic. He couldn't eat it. Our other food item were delicious but the salad and
chicken presentation ruined our evening; certainly wasn't what we were looking forward to.
The food and the service seems to have gone down hill since the last time I was there. The ran out of several entrees and we did not have a late reservation.
Went for the Restaurant Week specials and really enjoyed the prime rib dinner!
Great food, and great service! Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly, which is hard to find in this town. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, as well as the mixed vegetables. Our server was nice, friendly and kept our drinks topped off.
Food was delicious, view was amazing, and our waiter was fabulous! It was our second time having him and he was so nice and funny. Very enjoyable night! We’ll be back for sure!
Great service artichoke crab dip is money 👍 had a nice experience didn’t like there tartar doesn’t taste good with artichoke in it personal preference but every thing else A+ 🙂 Josh Port Orchard Wa
We did Sunday Brunch for Easter at noon and as expected the service is always tailored to please, making sure the food was perfect... Michael our server took good care of us! And as always, the best prime rib in Tacoma is always served here!
Fabulous Easter brunch. Service and food was great as always.
Easter brunch
The food was average at best. The oysters were dry as if they were sitting out for a while. I had the eggs Benedict and the English muffin was so tough I could cut it a knife. My daughter ordered the French toast wish was supposed to come with other stuff but that never came... just the french toast. It said it came with fruit and another side dish but that never happened. Overall our service was ok but not positive. I felt as if we were just an after thought. The waiter didn’t smile just did a job he didn’t enjoy. It will be a long time before we come back. This used to be one of favorite restaurants but I was left feeling like we could get better service and quality food elsewhere... no need to return.
Family get together!
We had a fabulous time on our 17th wedding anniversary. Awesome server and the food was outstanding!!!! See you soon!
A little pricey but worth it for the delicious seafood if you're in the mood for a nicer restaurant. Best to get a table by the window if you have the option!
We enjoyed our brunch. Food was great and so was the service! We will be back!
Dinner with mom. Easter weekend :)
Our waiter was very attentive, possibly almost too attentive. Our steaks were good, if not a little too similar across the board. Great view, good drinks from the bar, moderate level of chatter.
Had a nice table location and a great view. The interior and furnishings are looking old and worn.
Birthday celebration, great service and good food. Server was friendly - all staff were great.
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary. We rarely treat ourselves to a nice dinner but we did not regret splurging on dinner here. The food was great, service was wonderful from the hostess to the server and we had an overall nice time. Not to mention that we were left a card and given free desert to share for celebrating our anniversary with them. We will be back.
Way to expensive for greasy MSG food. Would not go here again!
Very good and great view.
This is the place to go for scenic views of Tacoma. That is about all this restaurant has going for it.
The table service is great. Friendly and attentive staff. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. Overall value of the food is horrible. You can get a better meal at a lower price from nearby restaurants.
But if you want to pay for a view, this is the place.
Prime rib. Would not order again. Ordered Med-rare. That may be the problem. Was very rare, hard to cut/elastic. Next time will order Med-Med well.
Seafood fettuccini was good.
First time for brunch. The blueberry muffin French toast won my husband over completely. And I loved the braised short rib egg Benedict. Such a unique combination, that blended perfectly. Scheduling when they first opened on a Saturday was perfect for a quiet table with a view and great service.
Wonderful service and all meals were beautiful presentations and tasted amazing.
Friendly service. Greeter was a very nice guy. Food was just OK (had a steak). The potato patty tasted off. My wife and I left them both on the plate.
Friendly service.
Good view.
Good coffee.
Food is so so.
I expect better food quality for the prices being asked.
Wonderful food, great views. We were pleasantly surprised with how good and inventive the food was; sometimes places that are described as "dining institutions" can grow stale. I had wild coho and the fish, vegetables and fingerling potatoes were done perfectly. My wife's stuffed sole was excellent, the veggies were great, but the rice was overcooked. They gave me a free dessert as it was my birthday, a nice touch. The view is amazing from here, which makes up for the somewhat dated decor. I would definitely go back! Wonderful place to take out of town visitors.
