Stanley & Seafort's Ratings and Reviews
I loved the atmosphere but my server seemed frazzled most of the time which lead to it taking about 20 25 minutes for drinks and another 10 for bread. Then my order was placed wrong. It did get fixed and they compted our desert. Which was nice but I wish it had been a little smoother of a night expecially since it was our first time here.
Made a reservation for Stanley & Seafort's to celebrate my 46th birthday. Made my reservation online and requested a window table. Unfortunately, we didn't get a window seat even though a table was available. There was no mention of my birthday (I didn't expect them to do back flips but I DID write it on my reservation request) and the place felt old and outdated. Service was good the food was OK, nothing special. Was hoping for a little bit more I guess? I ordered a hot bar drink and it came warm . . . I don't know. Maybe I'm getting grumpy in my old age but I feel there were opportunities where they could have went above and beyond and they fell flat. It wasn't a bad experience just nothing exceptional. Thank goodness for the view - which was fun, but other than that - I don't think we'll be back.
This was my second time coming here. My wife and I will be returning soon. Both of our experiences where spectacular. I don’t remember the waitress name, but, she was quick, professional, and genuine. They always allow you to socialize with your accompanying guest without extensive interruption.
Oh, of course, the food was top notch! You cannot go wrong with red meat here. The steak and rock salt prime rib are mouth-watering. My wife had the lobster tail added — we agreed it to be the best we have had. I am from the south, so I love key lime pie. I have not been able to find it in WA, till here. It is a treat, to say the least. Great cocktails as well!
Great food and view, the restaurant could use some remodeling. The restroom had a sink out of a order, no paper towels, no toilet seat covers, no hand soap. The staff really needs to maintain that and some of the ceilings in the restaurant looked yellow, food is on the pricier side so I had higher expectations on the overall look inside the restaurant.
My wife and I were celebrating Valentines Day and my Birthday so I was expecting to spend some serious money, what I wasn't expecting was the horrendous service, mediocre food and lackluster comfort or ambiance.
We arrived at the restaurant early for our reservation and we were seated right away (this concludes the good to above average portion of my review)
We were seated directly under the air conditioning in the far back (nosebleed section) of the restaurant. So check one was that we had to leave our coats on while attempting to have a romantic meal and conversation.
We were seated at a table that had people literally walking over us and bumping into us to get to their seats.
We asked one of the 3 servers from our abstract corner of the room if we could move to the adjacent booth in order to avoid the AC that no one would turn off or down (stated it was set to a timer that could not be adjusted) We were allowed to move.
The young man who brought us our drinks and took our appetizer order was kind to us even though he advised that he was not our server and that we would surely have one soon.
Long story short, we never did get a server and the man that brought us our drinks, brought us our appetizers. The appetizers were decent though the grits were over boiled and mushy and it took quite some time to receive.
It took almost an hour to receive our entrees and instead of spreading that gap with our soup order, it was all brought out at the same time.
My water was not kept full so i had to drink my wife's water, it took my wife a good 20 minutes to get a refill on her wine and though I enjoyed my steak at the time, hers was bloody and she was unable to eat it. The rest of the meal was a poorly portioned veggie medley with potatoes that were dry in spite of the mccormick style brown gravy.
We both had bowel issues the following morning and if i had more space to write, I would. extremely disappointed. Spent way too much on a mediocre meal and worse service
We have been to Stanley & Seaforts many times over the years and were always pleased. I don't know if it was early Valentines rush for food or what but some of the calamari was lumped together too much when fried(giving it a gooey consistency)(much of it was very tasty)The lobster bisque I had waited and dreamed about was not as good.(smaller portion ,less lobster and the taste not as good.) The potato fingerlings were terribly overcooked and dry. The steak was not very well cooked and I could have sent it back, but didn't. Overall we were not thrilled this time . I hope it was just a bad night to go!!!!
I requested a table right next to the window for a great view as it was our 14th Anniversary as well as Valentines Day. I was very pleased to see that they honored that request and we were given the best table for two by the window (and right next to the heater for my wife!) in the restaurant, as far as I was concerned. Thanks, S&S! The food was very delicious too.
This place is pricey by Tacoma standards, but it was a special occasion and we had a gift card so we felt it was worth the indulgence. Our meal was excellent, and thanks to our waiter (Jose, I think) for the great recommendation of the Waygu Beef Wellington. Not to miss is the Broadway Pea Salad, a longtime favorite at S&S.
We have been coming to S&S annually for our anniversary. We were married there 21 years ago. So we've seen just about everything. The food is outstanding. However, the kitchen seemed to be a bit off this evening. Clam chowder was warm, not hot. Brussels sprouts with pork chop not appealing; almost as bad as asparagus. The chop was perfect! The planked trout needed a magnifying glass to find it. About two inches wide and four inches long. Serving size disappointing for the price; taste was good although not very smoked. Key Lime Pie was a half serving, until our excellent server caught it and brought out the second half. As always, S&S servers are well attentive, suggestive selling and prompt service. On to year 22.
Took my 14 year old daughter here on a daddy daughter date for valentine's day. We did the early dinner for $29 before 5:30pm.
We got there at 445 and had to ask for the early dinner menu and then got a lecture from our waiter that you can't use Groupon discounts on it. We'll I didn't have a Groupon and I'm not cheap like was being insinuated. Was a bit insulting actually.
We started with calamari and it was pretty much a plate full of fryer breading and artichokes. The actual calamari pcs were so tiny and limited. We were very disappointed.
When food came, my daughters waygu steak was tiny - I mean 5 bites and it was gone! I had chicken fettuccine and the chicken was so overcooked and dry I couldn't even eat it. We both had creme brulee for dessert and the top was so burnt that it was all you could taste. The chowder was the only thing that was right. We were really looking forward to this date and I have to say we both were really disappointed. I expected a whole lot more out of Stanleys for our $100 bill.
Stanley and Seaford's serves absolutely phenomenal food. Their prime rib was the most tender steak I have ever had, and their raspberry torte was heavenly. I went with my girlfriend for a birthday/Valentine's day date, after trying to find a good restaurant within a reasonable distance from PLU. I am happy that we stumbled upon this gem. If we had chosen to make reservations at a less busy hour, the noise level would not have been bothersome, but that's essentially my only complaint. They are pricey, but the flavor in the food makes it well worth the cost. I hope to return again soon.
We had an amazing experience, the food, service, and views at Stanley's are all impeccable. Whether it is a special occasion or not this is worth the indulgence. We enjoyed the wagyu meatloaf Wellington, crab stuffed sole, pistachio crusted mahi mahi, and filet mignon. Would strongly recommend their key lime pie for a refreshing, lighter dessert.
We received a coupon for dinner for 4, so we went with friends. Great view, we were seated promptly at a terrific table, prompt and friendly service. Sadly, the food didn’t live up to the prices. My mahi-mahi was not as flavorful as it should have been, and the ‘crispy couscous ‘ was soft and bland. My husband’s meatloaf Wellington was good, but the vegetables were cold. The check for four of us was well over $200. It would have been ok at half the price.
