Stanley & Seafort's Ratings and Reviews
It’s beenn20 years since we have visited this RU location. Surprisingly disappointed in our Friday night dinner. View is good, calimari not eatable with extra heavy pepper, salad very basic, bread loaded with garlic cloves. Sadly we won’t return. Found another restaurant in Tacoma for dessert and will head back there in the future
For 40 years my husband and I have driven by your restaurant driving from Eastern Washington to see our kids and grandchildren in Gig Harbor. We Made reservations for last Friday Dec 8. We were seated close to the kitchen. It was cool and we had a difficult time staying warm. It was also very bright so the ambience at our table was a bit disappointing. My steak was outstanding. I loved every bite. My husbands prime rib was a bit disappointing. A too much fat and gristle for his liking. We will try again; request a window seat and try new items on the menu. Thank you.
Stanley’s is always a dependable choice, good food, attentive service and reasonable prices. It’s been our go to place for decades now. We are frequently disappointed at other restaurants because they seem to be hit and miss, and seem to be trying to be what they are not. While you may not find the latest trendy menu choices at Stanley’s, you will always get a great meal with great service from personable wait staff and management. Well done, Stanley’s.
We were disappointed with our food for the first time after previously having great dining experiences.
Short ribs were dry, and the filet mignon was over cooked. The appetizer, salads and seafood plate were great, but the beef plates were less than okay. We don't send food back so it's get it right on the first try only for us. Next time we'll star clear of the beef plates.
The service was fine, mishap on the salads - but was worked out.
There was an odor of tanked gas that was in the restaurant which was new and offputting - might have been them running a roaring fireplace and/or keeping up with the cold snap at the time.
The staff was so kind and generous from the moment we walked in the door. Soon my coat was being hung in the closet and every single smiling face greeted us and congratulated my husband on his birthday. The view of down town Tacoma at night with the river of car lights from I5 was the perfect backdrop to the elegant cuisine we feasted on. The spirits in our glasses kept our tummy’s wanting more and our evening was finished with two delicious desserts. Of course they didn’t forget the candle for the birthday boy. Can’t wait for the next special occasion!
Our waitress was very nice. For the price we felt rushed. When you go to a nice restaurant you expect to not have the salads out before you're done with the appetizer. I was hardly done with my salad when the entrees were out. We had the encrusted brie for our app, a bottle of wine, two wedge salads and the crab stuffed sole and the scallops. Each of our dinners came with roasted vegetables that were hardly cooked. Overall a disappointment for the price. I doubt we'll return.
My mother's fish came uncooked the first time around and the veggies were not what was promised/ they were unimpressive but my steak was yummy and my cocktail was great. The sides were mixed between me and my boyfriend as well but that was an easy switch. View was beautiful as always although I requested a window view and didn't receive it but still great.
Stanley Seafort's is a classic and what I would call an 'era' style restaurant so it could use some updating. Despite the slightly worn look, it still attracts a crowd and reservations are always recommended. The view of Tacoma and Puget Sound is very nice, and the holiday lights visible almost anywhere in the restaurant. Service is very good and the wait staff quite personable so you will feel a little pampered. The food can be quite good, depending on what you order. Unfortunately, this visit was on Thanksgiving and we wanted the traditional turkey dinner so the food was only mediocre. The turkey was delicious but they might want to consider re-thinking the dressing, mashed potatoes, and vegetables.
We had a wonderful experience at Stanley and Seafort's. My friend had a fantastic birthday , mainly because of S&S. Our server was wonderful. The food was spectacular as well. From the perfectly breaded calamari to the delicious New York steak, I was impressed. The birthday girl texted the next day reminiscing on the food and the atmosphere. I'm from Anchorage and often visit the Simon and Seafort's there. With fantastic food and service coupled with the amazing view of Tacoma, I believe I have a new favorite. Win, Win and Win. Thank you!
I took the wife here for our anniversary dinner. This was the first time eating at this restaurant. The host took is right to our table when we arrived. The view of Tacoma was amazing! We ordered the crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer. We both took one bite and stopped. It had a super fishy taste. The waiter took it back and the manager came and apologized and took it off of our bill. Wedge salad was basic but tasted fresh. The main course was a 12oz New York ordered medium for both of us. When our steaks arrived, they were not hot, but warm. My steak was cooked great and had great flavor. The wifes steak was almost rare. She didnt want to hassle, so she decided to eat it. The parmesan crusted potato fingerlings were ok. They had more of a sweet flavor than a parmesan flavor. The vegetable mix was carrots, zucchini, and brussels sprouts. Decent flavor.
Overall, i expected more for the price, but we had a decent time.
We chose Stanley & Seafort's to celebrate our anniversary at a location we had not tried before. Because we had heard so many good things about it, we were looking forward to a good experience. However, we were less than impressed. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, so that was not the problem. The view was also impressive, though we were seated a fair distance from being able to enjoy it, most likely due to accommodating my obvious mobility disability. I also felt the environment was showing its age with a worn out feel, especially in the bathroom. It was the food that was most disappointing. The filet mignons were barely seasoned, hence not very flavorful. The asparagus side consisted of super skinny spears that had very woody and inedible ends, akin to trying to bite through a toothpick. These could have easily been removed during food prep. I was not impressed by the potato pancake, but that's my own personal preference. Overall, we thought the food experience was mediocre at best and felt we would likely not return to this establishment.
Every so often I come here for dinner with my family but this is the second time my wife's entrée was not good. The manager is always more than willing to fix it, always offers to buy us dessert so there's no complaints there.. Employees are fantastic to us! Even the valet attendants that are working the evenings we dine here go out of their way to make sure we enjoy the evening. While I favor my expirences here, my wife usually insists we go somewhere else.
