We were celebrating two birthdays plus had an out-of-town guest. It was the perfect place - easy to get to, plenty of nearby parking, nice atmosphere, excellent service, good choices of delicious food (including gluten-free required by one in our party), and we were not rushed.

Experienced Happy Hour in the bar. Service was great. Food was good and the price was right. Like the atmosphere as it is not so loud.

Stanford’s was once again, exquisite. The server was spot on and very personable. It’s why I frequent the restaurant quite often. Their food is delicious! Thank you for making my best friends birthday really special! She went crazy for the ribs! Couldn’t believe she had a full rack and ate the whole thing! She never does that! She loved them!! You’ve definitely won over a new customer!

They changed the menu and took off one of the items we went for. I think this place has gone downhill

We have always had great food and great service at Stanfords. We live about an hour away so don't get there often.

Food was good but service was seriously awful! Think they were severely understaffed. Everything took forever. We left very frustrated!

I was not impressed with this restaurant. We had a reservation and was told that it would be 10 minutes until we would be seated.
We waited instead 35 minutes from our original wait time. Then spoke with the hostess and she sat us.
We sat and waited another 20 minutes at our table without anyone coming to our table to even offer water. Needless to say, we left the restaurant without a sip of water or a bite to eat for a celebratory birthday occasion for out of town guests.

One of my favorites, and despite a tiny snafu...still a favorite! I ordered a fresh simply grilled salmon plate, no sauce or rice, and the kitchen boo-booed and put sauce on it. So, the manager apologized for the delay, remade my Meal, and comped us! I was embarrassed because it was a pricey plate, but they insisted! It was very nice to have great customer service!!! Thank you, Stanford’s!

The place is a little dark and tired these days, and can be chilly inside. The menus just changed recently, and there are plenty of things on there for us to try. Our favorites so far are the crab and avocado inside out rolls, the Beef Dip/French Dip sandwich, and the crab and artichoke fork sandwich. The side salad and french fries are usually good too.

Our server was very nice, we appreciated her experience.

We noticed the dinnerware probably needs to be replaced. Lots of scratches and greyed edges of plates. Some of the smaller dishes didn't look like the dishwasher rinsed all the goo off. Nothing outrageous, just looks like they need to remodel and update soon. The whole area there has had a facelift, and now it's their turn maybe?

Would still recommend though based on past performance, current good food, and friendly staff.

My daughter and I stopped by after a H.S. Game. Our food was delis, and the service was excellent. My one complaint was that they only had one vegetable selection (broccoli). Other than that, my oysters were fried to perfection, and my daughter's chicken tacos were great!

P.S. ... And our server, I believe his name was David, was extremely attentive and professional!

We've lived in Walnut Creek for 20+ years and this was our first trip to Stanfords! How did we let that happen?? The management for the restaurant was superior. The staff service and food/menu was incredible. We will definitely be back!

Got to say...among the worst meals in a long time. I have not been here in years, but decided to try again. The waiter did a big sell on the moist brined pork chop. Yuck...no matter how you bring it, it you over cook it it's toast. I should have sent it back, but due to Birthday atmosphere I did not want to spoil the dinner. Never again. Waiter was just barely okay. Never refilled ice tea or water. Dessert took forever. Just don't go here.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to others. Ethan was just an outstanding waiter
that was courteous and patient, even though we took quite a while before ordering. We all found the food to be excellent. I will be back for sure. I found the restroom to be very clean, and the host staff to be very friendly.

The lunch salad was remarkably uninspired. Chopped iceberg, some tortilla strips, dry and tough chicken, a bland dressing dribbled over it. We were both extremely disappointed. Have had nice lunches in the past but not this one. Stanford has gone down a steep hill. So far down, I doubt it can recover. Don't waste your time and money at this poor shell of what it used to be.

While we were discussing which appetizers to order, the server wrote them all down. We ended up ordering 3 large appetizers and an entree each for the four of us dining.
Seems like our server did this on purpose to increase our bill.
We still paid our tip in full, but will probably be more cautious next time

Many good choices: fish, chicken, beef. Had seared Ahi Tuna appetizer which was excellent. Prime rib medium rare was very good. Wild caught salmon special was excellent. Panko-crusted chicken Dijon was also excellent. Everyone in the party of 5 enjoyed their meal. Others had fish tacos and beer battered fried cod.

Went for lunch. We had the Beef Sandwich Dip au Juice, with a side of fries and a side salad, and the inside-out California rolls. Both absolutely hit the spot! Yum! More things on the menu to try too. Wish it wasn't so dark inside at lunch, but it was nice to be in the cool while it was hot outside.

I was't sure this Open Table was going to work and it did! I was pleasantly surprised. They even listened to my comment about putting us in a quiet place. It was perfect. We made reservations close to when they opened so it wasn't too busy or loud yet which was another fabulous surprise. Our server was warm and friendly as well as the hostess when we walked in. It is not as popular as it used to be due to the "newest" stuff around but it will always be one of our favorites. Hopefully the parking will work in your benefit soon! I know that deters us on a few occasions from coming in!

Thanks for making our celebration great!

We sat at the patio table since it was a hot day and they had umbrellas but in retrospect, we should've sat inside because the sun was almost too hot despite the umbrellas. We even had to ask the waiter to adjust one of the umbrellas so the sun would not be directly hitting us. The food and drink was excellent. Even the happy hour menu was surprisingly extensive but unfortunately we got there just after it ended. The only criticism I have was the waiter had to be reminded a few times to bring us water, in addition to us asking if he could adjust the umbrella so we didn't have the sun hitting us. This degree of inattentiveness wouldn't have been noticed as much if it weren't a hot day and we were a bit uncomfortable AND we were with my elderly father. It was disappointing. We struck up a conversation with the other couple seated next to us and even they happen to mention he forgot their appetizer. We really liked the food and wine and despite the service being seriously lacking in more ways than one, we would probably come back but maybe sit inside on a hot day.

This was our first time at Stanford's, and we were there to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday with family, but we were not impressed with the service that we received (and neither the waitress or manager even recognized what we were celebrating). The food quality was variable, with the prime rib being presented at the right temperature but chewier than expected, and the asparagus was not properly prepared, as they left a lot of hard parts of the stems on before cooking. The Asian short ribs were tasty but too salty, while the mashed potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. The baby back ribs were good but the accompanying French fries were limp and greasy. The copper river salmon was cooked well but was bland.

Overall, given the relatively high price point and other competitor restaurant options in the area, I'm not sure we would return based on the service and food quality we experienced despite a nice ambiance.

I hadn't been to Stanford's in a while but had always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately I am sad to say that the food was not at all good this time. The cream of salmon chowder was WAY too salty, the artichoke dip didn't have much flavor, and my wood-fire steak cobb salad was EXTREMELY watery/liquidy. I don't know if it was from the bleu cheese dressing or juices from the meet ... or something else. I ended up taking it back to work with me and actually took it out of its container and used papertowels to try to absorb all of the liquid because I had had it before and it was always really good ... plus I was still hungry. Unfortunately after about 15 or 20 minutes of trying I still didn't get it all. :(

Parked in the new parking lot, easy walk and free for 3 hours. Had a reservation but didn't need one. Friendly fast service. Sat in the back and immediately heard crying baby but no worries. The kids weren't as loud as the table of older folks having a great time. Calamari was a bit blonde, but the sauces were good. I had the pork tacos and hubby had fish and chips. Tacos were large, took most of it home. Fish was on the smaller side. Cocktails were fine. A nice dinner (and lunch the next day).

We really enjoyed our dinner. Very good food, honestly better than expected.
Our waiter was very sweet and attentive. The only thing is that they brought the dinner the same time as the appetizers and drinks. We asked them to wait on the entrees which they did.
The drinks were a bit watered down so I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Happy Hour.
All in all, we had a lovely dinner and I will go back.
