Stanford's - Tanasbourne
Onion rings appetizer were very very cold! Waiter couldn't get one of our drinks right - simple Tito's martini in a bucket with olives. 12 oz prime rib didn't even look like prime rib. Mashed potatoes were also cold. Won't be going back there anytime soon!!!
Not what it once was. Seems to have gone downhill with both service and food quality. Always willing to pay a bit more for a good meal but I would recommend you look elsewhere.
Rarely do I go to a restaurant and my expectations are surpassed. This is exactly what happened at Stanford’s restaurant Tanasbourne. The greeting at the door Hello Abby set the stage for a perfect dining experience. Our waitress, Hello Fabienne, introduced us to a Stanford’s restaurant that we didn’t know existed. I always thought of Stanford’s as a decent quick bite before a movie but now that has changed.
Waitress Fabienne made this visit special. She has all the knowledge of the menu that you would expect and she knows how to use it. Fabienne visited with us about the restaurant and served us a complete experience, not just a meal.
With a new Head Chef, Hello Chef Lopez, your vision of food is greater than a prefixed menu. the lobster bisque is delicious.
Stanford’s is a go to restaurant. I do recommend this restaurant.
Good food, good service, good company. We had a great time.
Sold our airplane!
Had a very good wait person. Food was good. Had a reservation and was seated promptly.
Delicious seasonal salad, great service ~ we had a great time. Love 💕 Stanford’s.
Always a good option when in Portland area.
It was a pleasant evening. I would not order time rib again it was too well done and not very flavorful. The hunk of garlic bread with the Cesar salad was not very tasty.
Ryan is the best server ever. He makes every visit a treat. Sandy is also very much loved by our family. Stanford’s is one of our favorite dining destinations because of the service!
Great lunch as usual! Thanks
It was great! Vanessa was a wonderful server!
I went to dinner with my wife and her 90 year old uncle. We had a nice dinner. Both my wife and her uncle ordered the filet and they were cooked correctly and were tasty but by the time they arrived to us, they were not longer hot. We did mention this when we received out bill and they did take 20% off but our waitress did not check on us once after delivering our food. We remain fans of Stanfords and this was a relatively minor issue.
Food was good however the item I selected from the specials menu wasn’t available. I thought that was odd but the server worked out a compromise for me. We then waited over an hour for our meal to be served. I like this restaurant but definitely not our best experience.
We were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. Service was very good, good was excellent and received a free desert for our anniversary.
We were out with friends and Vanessa was our server; She was great and made great suggestions for wine pairings and dinner selections. The food was great and we had a great time with our friends!
Had lunch (Soups) with a friend and they were both problematic. The Broccoli Cheese was like eating a hunk of lukewarm cheese, the Broccoli wasn’t cut up & was not thoroughly cooked. The Barley Beef did not taste fresh and was like eating thick mush (my friend said). Seems both Soups lacked a Cream or Broth base (or perhaps they were leftovers poorly revived. To boot, the older lady at the front seating was curt and lacked inviting hospitality. I wont return for lunch.
Stanford's is a bit of class in the neighborhood, offering something that is a little higher end that you don't necessarily have to go downtown for.
Generally their food is very good, the only challenge we have had is they have a tendency to liberally season their food, which can often leave us thinking that things are too salty. This doesn't apply to every item, but I know we have found this to be the case in the last two visits.
Their desserts have a tendency to be overly sweet, and often heavy. It would be nice to have some variety in the options to go along with the seasonal menu to support often a nice dinner.
Service was prompt and seamless. True service wth a smile
Our server was outstanding, my burger was great, we had a wonderful meal from beginning to end.
Food and service was excellent
Stanfoeds is alright but I sure wish you didn't close Portland Seafood at Washington Square. It was the greatest.
I hadn't been to Stanford's for many years. Don't know why that is but it was good to get back there. The food was very good. We had good service. It was quiet enough so we could have good conversations which is not the case in so many restaurants nowadays.
We'll be back.
I really enjoy their brunch - it is served only on Saturday and Sunday. This time I tried the veggie frittata, and it was delicious - mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, onions, bell peppers. Their breakfast potatoes are awesome as well, and the biscuits and blackberry jam are a perfect addition. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and commented again about the seasoned butter or other seasoning that really adds great flavor to the fried eggs. It's a popular place, so I was glad that I made a reservation. We'll definitely return to try out more of the brunch menu.
We t for a friend Birthday. Two of us split the prime rib which was cut extremely thin and lots of fat making it greasy.
The green beans were barely cooked. The mashed potatoes were fine. The dinner is not the quality any longer, it used to be great.
Ordered the prime rib French dip sandwich with side salad. Both were excellent. Prime rib was flavored well and cooked perfectly. Salad had a large variety of items including bacon and hard boiled egg. Rewards program is fabulous as I received $20 off my meal.
Service and food were both wonderful. Enjoyed the lunch very much.
Wait staff was prompt and our food was delecious. We were seated quickly.
The food was delicious and the server was very nice and didn't rush us at all.
Too expensive for what you get for your money. We waited almost 25 minutes for our drinks and it was well over an hour before we got ANY food. Even appetizers, then the entree came out about 10 minutes later. The chicken was overdone and somewhat dry, and my shrimp were good but the butter/ oil sauce was VERY salty. My daughter had macaroni which was very good.
My wife and I went to Stanford's Tanasbourne to celebrate my birthday. I ordered grilled Mahi-Mahi with mashed potatoes, asparagus and salsa. When it came, the plate was cold and the Mahi-Mahi filet was 2/3 covered in cold salsa, plus the meat was barely warm. I sent it back. Meanwhile, my wife ate her prawn entrée and then had to wait until my Mahi-Mahi was served and which I had to eat by myself. This totally spoiled the birthday celebration and ruined our evening.
Stanford’s at Tanasbourne is absolutely our favorite restaurant, for every occasion; birthdays, Anniversaries, Business meetings, etc. they never disappoint!!
They food is 85% superb, and after 20yrs only 15% Medium good. We love and trust them to come thru always!!
It was AWFUL!! We used to be constant customers of Stanford's back in the day. Now everything is different in terms of the food and the way it is prepared. Salads are not good anymore, plus they are so expensive for what you get!! Burgers are not as good as they used to be and the price is over the top!! You need to go back to your roots and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
Ribeye was thin and unevenly cooked, not much flavor, and portion size was small considering 1/2 was fat or not edible due to gristle. For 2 people and a child to spend 100+ dollars on this meal is insane. Unless you go there for the environment or people.
My table of 3 sat out on the patio. The service was good, but food arrived to the table cold.
The workers that greeted us barely talked to us, they just directed us to out table. Server was not attentive. Food was cold. We went for a birthday dinner and was not impressed. First time there I don’t think we will come back
The peppercorn salmon with cauliflower and rice was wonderful. The wine pairing was great.
My friends and I always have a good time at Stanford’s with great food and service.
We love Stanfords and eat here often. However, this visit was a disappointment. Onion rings were hard and tasteless. $20.00 for a french dip that was dry and less meat than what we used to get. So sad and hope this was a fluke in the kitchen. Staff was amazingly friendly.
We were six and originally sat at a table with excessive noise. Staff were very accommodating in letting us move into the next room where it was a good deal quieter. The dining experience was good, staff neither absent nor intrusive. My only complaint with Stanford's these days is cost. They're charging too much for their bill of fare. $17 for a burger and $8 for a small glass of house red is too much.
