Stanford's - Northgate Ratings and Reviews
This is one of our favorite places to eat. Many choices on the menu, good seafood, beef and pork items. The staff is outstanding and caring! Large parking lot, adjacent to one of the area's large malls. We argued about who had the best meal.I had an excellent crab and artichoke on focaccia bread, served with a choice of sides. I chose a cinnamon apple slices. Other choices included slaw, or fries.
Restaurant itself was nice enough. Not too loud. Clean. Wait staff was okay although it took longer than it should have given the number of people.
The food was decidedly subpar for the most part. I got a steak cobb salad and the steak was underdone and very tough. My companion got the prime rib and it was way over-spiced (rosemary) and not at all tender. Very chewy. Her mashed potatoes were kind of dry.
I guess the rest of the salad was fine.
Reserved a table for my wife and I for lunch before seeing Aladdin at the Paramount. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. The menu had many great options and lunch specials for a good price. The food was very good. I had the half crab and artichoke sandwich with a salad. The salad had real bacon and boiled eggs...very tasty. My wife's chicken strips were OK, but could have been fried a bit longer as they weren't as crispy as she usually likes. The BBQ sauce served with the strips was exceptional. The Strawberry Lemonade was good, but very tart, and the only sugar on the table is sugar in the raw which doesn't mix well in cold drinks. Overall a nice restaurant for any occasion. I will go again.
Met a friend for dinner last Saturday night. We started off in the bar and got good service. Was seated in the dining room in a cozy booth. Excellent service - server was efficient, friendly and good humored. The meal plus wine was very reasonably priced. I had the grilled oysters with creamed spinach and vegetables - this was a "light" preparation - not heavy on the cream - just enough to make it rich. Lightly sautéed vegetables and crispy oyster filled the platter. My friend had a chicken pear fig salad that was huge and very tasty. A perfect dining place, after shopping at Northgate Mall. Will definitely return.
This was the worst restaurant meal I have ever eaten. Ever. Stringy, tough prime rib served lukewarm. Chicken Parmesan that was all breading and little chicken, desperately overcooked, even after I sent it back once, with supposedly fresh mozzarella that was a congealing glop atop one of the two pieces of chicken. We spent $80 for two on a meal that was worth about $10 plus a beer. (They couldn't screw up the beer.) Wow, this was awful.
Really like is restaurant for dinner, but brunch was nearly inedible. The potatoes were so overcooked you couldn't cut them with a knife. The crab cake tasted like dried bread crumbs. We will not take anyone to brunch at Northgate Stanford ever again. It was very embarrassing.
We had a nice quiet dinner with a terrific waiter, Michael. Micheal was friendly, humorous and concerned that we were happy with our selections. He checked on us often, without being intrusive. The food was tasty, very warm, and as described in the menu. The portions were generous. The only downside was the coleslaw that came with my halibut fish n chips. It was BLAH & bland. But everything else was tops, especially my raspberry lemon drop cocktail. So 5 stars still! Thank you again for Michael, well done!
This was my third visit t this location and it was for a birthday luncheon. The food was very good, our server was pleasant and responsive, although she had too many tables to serve and was a bit harried (athough I noticed that only because I observed how many tables she had to take care of - she was unfailingly nice).
This was our first time, my husband and I, at this restaurant, and we were not impressed. First, the water that was given to us to drink was dirty. It has something floating around in there. The table didn't seem to be wiped down. The virgin pina colada was too sweet and the food was mediocre. I've had better food for less price. The waiter was polite, but not very attentive. I was disappointed and will not return.
So I have always looked forward to going to Standford's but it seems as though the food has really gone down hill in the past 6 - 12 months. The appetizer was really mediocre as was the food. The ribs were really fatty and the meat was overcooked. The fries were really dry and had no flavor. I have used this restaurant in the past as one of my "go to" places for dinner but after this meal it has come off my list. It is expensive enough that I expect a much higher quality of food. The only thing great was the service. The wait staff is friendly, spends the right amount of time checking in with their tables, etc. That's not enough to continue eating there.
I usually love Stanfords and I eat there quite a bit. I really love their happy hour and the choice of food.
However, this was the second Easter that we have gone as a family and I doubt that we will do it again. They were understaffed for a busy holiday and the service (both years) was not up to the usual standard. Hurried and, since we were a large group and having an 18% gratuity added, not very polite about it.
I cannot say enough good things about the happy hour and I like eating in the restaurant the rest of the time. But avoid the holidays.
Food was pretty pedestrian fare, overpriced for the quality. I had the Baja tacos with halibut. The menu description didn't match what came. Grilled tortilla's? Nope, they were cold. Guacamole? Nope, there was a little plastic cup with some pico de gallo with a slight green color to it that must have been a bit of avocado. The slaw in the tacos was dry. A large portion of the plate was filled with white rice, along with a handful of tortilla chips. So in addition to the double tortilla's on the 3 tacos there were two other starches to enjoy. The fish was 3 pieces from the fish and chips dinner also on the menu. I ate the 3 pieces of fish and some tortilla chips. The server didn't inquire if anything was wrong with the meal when he removed the mostly uneaten meal.
My sis-is-law and I get together for lunch every couple of months and this is where we went yesterday. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, as well as accommodating of special requests. The food was excellent and the ambience very pleasant. We will be back!
