Stanford Grill Ratings and Reviews
Standord Grill is always good place to go. Food is consistent. And the atmosphere is good. 6 of us there for my friend's birthday. I called before our reservation to get a round table. But they didn’t have one. But the guy who answered said he would try to accommodate. And was super pleasant on the phone.
We sat in a captains booth. Which was nice because we could see each other. But it was very noisy! So we couldn’t hear each other that well.
Waitress was super perky. And did a great job.
They had salmon cake special for appetizer. I ordered the steak salad but asked for the salmon instead of the steak. Was not crazy about the salmon cake. But in all I make them at home and they are way better. Wasn’t bad enough that I sent it back.
The Peartinis were not as good as they normally are. I think they need to update their cocktail menu. Seems like they have had same drinks forever.
We had fun. And my friend enjoyed her birthday. We will go back again.
Even with a reservation, we had to wait a short while for our table. Once seated the waiter suggested an appetizer that we had from an earlier visit. Good start! When I ordered my drink, it took some time before it was delivered to the table and it was incorrect. I had hoped to have a cocktail before my meal arrived, but that did not work out since it took some time to fix the mistake and deliver my drink. In the meantime, the waiter was not monitoring our water situation and we had our appetizer without anything to drink since we had finished the initial glass of water.
The food was excellent, but the vegetable was not warm and I got an incorrect side dish. We had plenty leftover's to take home. It was a birthday dinner fr my wife and the free dessert was great. If the waiter had been more attentive, our experience would have been much better.
Food was fine. Nothing special. Price was reasonable. Way too noisy for a comfortable chat with old friends we hadn't seen for a while. Waiter was good, but definitely overly attentive. We felt hovered over. Not worth the drive from Silver Spring to Colombia
I️ had the Rotisserie chicken w/ a slice of cornbread. It was absolutely delicious. The only thing I was disappointed about was the fact that they couldn’t find my information in the computer to add to my points, & still haven’t sent me an actual Woodfire card after several visits. Other then that I highly recommend this place. Great ambiance, good , & service!!
Saturday evening a group of friends got together at Stanford Grill. We had a ball! Several of the guest were coming from out-of-town and commented on the ambiance and quality of the cocktails. Stanford Grill is a place that pays attention to detail and encourages good times. We were celebrating a birthday and an initial introduction of a new group member. The bread pudding was scrumptious and the pumpkin cheesecake topped off the evening. We will go back and look forward to making yet another fantastic memory!
Second time here, loved it! Six in a booth was a little cramped, but the restaurant was packed on a Friday night. Definitely needed reservations. Jazz band was good, glad we were seated a bit away so we could talk and catchup. Our waiter Josh hustled beyond belief and was great.
We will definitely return.
The food is impressive - creative twists and meticulous preparation for items like prime rib (best ever), filet mignon and even spare ribs. Wait staff is friendly, attentive and fun without overdoing it... Portions are generous. On this birthday dinner, we had to take extras home so we could fit in desserts. The whole experience was worth the trip... a little hard to find, tucked behind the Courtyard Marriott, but navigating via smartphone will do the trick. The live music - piano and bass, was just right along with fireplaces scattered around for ambience. Dark wood and stone make for a really warm atmosphere.
Liked our food very much--shared calamari appetizer, which was excellent. Main course--each got 10 oz prime rib and each was cooked as requested. Sides of mashed potatoes and green beans tasty. Food actually came too fast; we had not finished appetizer or drink. We were given boxes for leftovers, which I would have expected server to fill. Then we had to ask for a bag to carry them in. Once table was cleared and before dessert came, it would have been nice for the crumbs to have been taken away.
I ordered the Salmon and it was tasty; however, I noticed a big difference in the portion size from the last time I was there, which was within a week's time. The portion was half the size for the same $28.00 dollars. The grilled vegetables were just "ok", they had a little burnt/charred grill taste that had a bad after taste. In prior visits, the vegetables have always been delicious and the Salmon portion was a pretty good size as well. I have eaten at Stanford's at least 3 times in the last 2 weeks and this meal was just not as delightful.
Our server, ERIC - was phenomenal. He made our evening special. In addition to be very patient while our guests arrived - he was always there to answer questions, make recommendations and keep my drink filled to the brim during the whole meal. He made our visit to the STANFORD Grill most enjoyable.
The food was awesome. The server was awkward and the Host needs training.
This was for an important business meeting on Tuesday, Nov 7, 2017.
After making a reservation for a Business Party of 5, we arrived to an empty restaurant at 4:30pm, and were seated at a table for 4? When we asked the Host to be moved to a table for 5, said they did not have a table for 5 , which didn't make any sense, when our reservation for 5 online was confirmed? They eventually moved us to a larger, cozy booth, but this was a business meeting, not a family gathering. Your staff needs training, but the food was very good.
The overall experience at Stanford Grill is always enjoyable. The food is delicious and the service is timely. I never feel rushed, even though there is always a wait if you do not have a reservation. This is a lively restaurant, every day and the jazz musicians take it to the next level.
We love the food at Stanford grill and often go there for special occasions. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable and portions are hearty. The only downside is the noise level - it can be quite loud especially on a weekend night. I would also like to see them acknowledge special occasions better - a free dessert or something similar for a birthday or anniversary. We are always asked when making a reservation if it is for a special occasion - but there is never any follow through?
The lighting is nice and the food good. The only problem is the noise. If you want to have a conversation during the meal, this is not the best place for that. We've been going for business meals during the evening, and they have a live band. Which is nice if you want to hear the band. But not so good if you want to have a conversation..
Met with friends for a causal lunch. The menu options were large enough for everyone to be happy. The waitress was well informed about all ingredients in each entree. One member of the party liked the onion ring stack at the Rockville SG, but it wasn't available in Columbia. He was disappointed, and he chose the spinach artichoke appetizer which was nice.
My husband and I had a great time there on our anniversary. I had lamb as a main course, it was good, but not exactly what I like. Appetizers were great, salmon and calamari tender, juicy and just melted in the mouth. Drinks were something to remember, 🍐 martini with amaretto is my favorite. Dessert was chocolate uprising, in pool of warm caramel and vanilla ice cream was delicious. I would recommend this place for everyone who likes good food and good quality.
The service was impeccable as always, our waitress and the rest of the staff took excellent care of us. The food was OK but not up to Stanford's usual standards. We found the Chicken Pot Pie fairly tasteless and dry; and we also found the Rattlesnake Pasta bland. We will return to Stanford Grill, but it has dropped a notch on our favorite's list. We hope Stanford quickly returns to its roots with what was outstanding food with excellent service providing an outstanding quality restaurant in our neighborhood.
