I made the reservation for my friends that are visiting because Stanford Grill is my favorite restaurant. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich and her husband had the steak that was a special entree. The chicken sandwich cane out completely raw and when they asked to order her something else to eat, they were told the kitchen was closed. I find this completely unacceptable
The Stanford Grill has become our go to restaurant now instead of Houstons , The Lodge at Tower Oaks et al. Fabulous tasting , high quality fresh food. Love the food grilled over a wood fire. Wine menu is limited but reasonably priced. Service is excellent and ambience great. Mike Nolan
Food was outstanding. The Rotisserie Chicken was to DIE FOR!!! I will be back soon :)
Nice outdoor patio and setting but mediocre food and drinks. Wouldn’t repeat the experience.
Great for outdoor dining. Tables are spaced far apart. Food was very good. Service was good, but they couldn't have used another wait staff member outside.
We enjoyed our dinner. They have a shorter bill of fares but serve oversized dishes competently prepared. The service is very good. We very much liked their outdoor seating: canopies and heaters are there to protect you from rail or cold (none of this materialized when we came). A bit pricey, yes but no regrets.
We always enjoy are meals at the Stanford Grill. The food is delicious and the waitstaff is lovely. One suggestion- I ordered a main dish salad. Most restaurants serve some type of bread with that. Even though I asked for bread I was told that is not included with the salad. I think that would be a nice addition.
Excellent entrees but server should have given us the menu price on these evening specials as they were over $30 and NOTHING on the menu was priced that high
Thus we were quite surprised to get a hundred dollar check.
Also server said the cocktail would be comped because they were out of our preferred liquor and they had to substitute
The first place they sat is was next to their party room. It was way to loud and when we asked to move they said it would be a 45 minute wait for another table. We ended up eating our meal at at the bar.
Very limited selection - 3/4 of a page menu. No sushi. The explanation - Covid 19??? The food was overcooked, dry and overspised. The waiter was great!
Our server was great & so was the food & ambience.
Our most recent experience at Stanford Grill was not as enjoyable as earlier visits. The restaurant had far more than 50% of its indoor seating blocked, including virtually all of its booths. As a result, the service seemed to be rushed to turn over the few indoor tables that were available. The outdoor seating was filled. We ended up seated at a table with literally dozens of empty booths around us (although, after we were seated, we were offered a booth at the far back corner of the restaurant with no one seated within 25 yards which was not our idea of a convivial atmosphere). It may be my faulty memory, but the menu also seemed shorter and I recall prime rib being available on earlier menus but not on this one. This is a restaurant showing the strain of the COVID shutdown.
I noted a friend's birthday for a sliced of cake. But our waiter didn't acknowledge it. I'm disappointed. Also, how many times does the customer have to request "lemon" & "straws" with their water? I had I ask for it a couple times as my friends recalled when we ordered our cocktails I asked for our table. Another thing when the sever delivers something at the table --- *** always ask customers if anything else before they rushed off as Friday was not busy at all". Because of these requests noted, I couldn't give him a 5 star rating as server improvement needs to be improved.
Service was great . The burgers and flat bread were yummy. The Arctic chat was good and the spinach was delicious
Food is excellent! Waiter, Dan, was super friendly and helpful! Patio dining was great today, especially with heat lamps.
They are trying their best in a difficult environment. They are succeeding.
Always an enjoyable outing at the Stanford Grill. Ate outside and observed COVID-19 precautions.
Waiter was excellent and so was the food.
We had planned to eat outside , however it was a little too windy. We asked to be moved to a bar table near the window which turned out to be ideal for the two of us. We sat and talked for quite a while and our server was very understanding. I would like to make a suggestion. I love the chicken salad but it is way too big for just me. I would suggest that maybe you could have a half order as a choice. Thank you.
Requested outdoor and were denied because it had just rained and they did not want to dry them off.
It was fine, the food was tasty and the portions are large. The menu was greatly pared down since the advent of COVID, and the sides are very limited. The service was good, and offered a really nice wine recommendation.
We celebrated my sister's birthday at Stanford Grill in Rockville and everything and everyone was fantastic!
Truly the best waiter I’ve ever had. He was attentive but not too attentive. He made suggestions he was just great! Fabulous outdoor seating too! Like to be next to the fire pit.
First outdoor dining experience during COVID-19. Patrons were spaced out way more than 6 feet and the service was outstanding as usual. Will definitely be back soon...especially for those Fiesta Egg Rolls!!
danny the server is fantastic! funny guy good to talk to.
ask for danny to serve you.
Sushi is back! Lovely outdoor seating with great woodfire grilled dishes in addition to the sushi which we adore.
Did not like the Bacon and Mac Cheese
We were seated very close to other customers even though the restaurant was empty and many people were coughing. The food was salty and not fresh at all.
Sat out on the back patio, had a very nice dinner with friends, plenty of social distancing.
Unfortunately, there was no Prime Rib as the online menu had mentioned. Apparently, they had taken it away 3 weeks before and had not updated the menu. I realize that there are going to be either supply chain issues due to Covid, or not enough clientele to make it worth while to have Prime Rib anymore, but it was very disappointing.
Slightly dirty Henrick's martini had crushed ice and wasn't dirty at all.
Allergic to all nuts, including walnuts which the house salad had. Doesn't mention that on the menu at all. The waiter replaced the salad with a caesar.
In general, unless they get there game together notwithstanding the Covid issue, I probably won't be coming here for some time.
Seating was outdoors. No complaints. Food and service excellent. Tables far enough apart and felt COVID-19 exposure was negligible.
Our server Josh was great. Explained everything well, very engaging. The manager came over to check on us which was very appreciAted. Food was great. Portions are large..restaurant is excellent at observing Covid protocols. .
I understand in these times a restaurant has to streamline its menu but we were very disappointed with the new limited menu. Dined here several weeks ago and the menu was more diverse. For a restaurant that specializes in chefs creations there wasn't much to it. We can go anywhere for a burger.
The menu at Stanford grill has been dramatically reduced to burgers and salads. I selected a fried chicken salad...the chicken was not crispy ...nor did it taste fresh. There were no options for dressings that were not creamy. All in all a very disappointing experience. We recognize that all restaurants need to scale back and reconfigure their offerings during this time...but at a minimum...what remains on the menu should be done well...and taste fresh. Regrettably, we won’t be back.
The menu is very light now and they do not offer free bread anymore. The seating outside is fairly uncomfortable and I pinched my finger when I was trying to move the seat up. The chairs are close together if you are trying to sit next to each other.
Birthday celebration for spouse
