About
When we got to the restaurant, the doors were locked and had a letter showing that the landlord closed the restaurant for failure of lease payments. Very disappointing for visitors from out of town for a business dinner.
I made a reservation for 6 for a business dinner only to walk up and the doors were padlocked with a note that the restaurant was closed due to outstanding bills.
We raced to find a new place and luckily Truluck’s graciously seated us.
Went to the website and it notes they have moved. Would’ve been nice to call customers and inform them so they didn’t arrive for a confirmed reservation!!
The restaurant abruptly closed the weekend before our reservation. We were not contacted by the restaurant to be made aware. They are moving to Allen, but I would not patronize them after their failure to respect existing patrons.
This restaurant had very good food. Although I opted out of the main courses to try a few of the starters instead, it was all very good. Wines are all mostly from Texas and the Chicken Tortilla Soup isn't what you would expect. I didn't enjoy it... It is a very creamy cross between a tomato soup and a chicken tortilla. Other than the soup, I will go back and try again. The Trip of dips was amazing as was my friends fried chicken.
An upscale, Texas Modern, version of The Ranch in Las Colinas. Food was good, service was good. Definitely a place to at least once.
Do not order the hanger steak. It is horrible!! I ordered it medium and it came out well done and tasted like a tough brisket. The waitress informed me that they try to get it to medium but it often over cooks. She walked away with plate after I complained and brought it back stating this is simply how it comes. She said a lot of folks don’t like it after they try it. There was not an offer to exchange it for something different.
We had biscuits for a starter which were great. My wife ordered the salmon and loved it. The loaded mashed potatoes I had as a side were wonderful as well.
They provide you with a review card with your check which I documented the hanger steak taste.
The restaurant is over hyped. The signature Honey Fried Chicken was over brined and the coating bland. Not in the same league of a Streets or even Babes. Buffalo Chicken fried steak was over coated because it was under portioned. ( Beyond portion control. A Texas themed restaurant w/o sweet tea? For a Texas themed restaurant I can think of 2 or 3 that are better w/o even talking value
Good atmosphere. Nice western backdrop. Great Texas
Service was absolutely terrible. We received entrees but no sides, had to ask for silverware after food arrived and waited several minutes as the food cooked in front of us. Kicker was - chef was actually in the house! NOT up to his standards in any way.
We were celebrating our anniversary and this was the first time there. It was awesome service and outstanding food. We will definitely be back.
Great Texas food. The waiter was excellent at giving suggestions and describing the food that they serve. He was always on time but never pushy. The food was excellent. The brisket was the most tender brisket I have ever had. And I am a Texan.....
Stampede 66 never fails to deliver! Always efficient, friendly service, ready with recommendations and the cuisine really showcases Texas flair!
I would highly recommend Stampede 66 to anyone who likes great food, full of flavor and great service. The deviled eggs were amazing with a kick, the skirt steak you could cut with a fork.
We had an out of town guest with us. And, as always the food was amazing! She loved the place and the food. Our server was great - she was helpful, fun and nice.
Exceptional experience and very DALLAS! High Texas!
Took my wife for our 1 year wedding anniversary, our first time going to Stampede 66 and it will definitely not be our last. My mind was set on a steak until our server mentioned that the brisket was smoked in-house for 3 days, SOLD!! Next time I’ll get the steak.
This was our second time visiting Stamped 66, this time was just as good as the 1st time. I had a dry ice Margarita and it was fun watching them make it.
The salmon was very dry. In addition we had to track down our waitress about three times in order to request, water, cocktails and finally to let her know we were ready to order. Terrible service. Will not be coming back here again.
The food was amazing and Chef John and Manager Patrick both came by to make sure everything was fabulous- and it was! We will be back!
Stampede 66 is a good place to take out of towners. I took some out of town co-workers here for a dinner and they really liked it. The food was good, although a bit pricy, and it has a lot of good Texas/Texmex fare. They have a good sized bar with a pretty lengthy whiskey menu. I'd say it's upscale Texas food. If you like steak, texmex, etc, you won't be disappointed.
Very mediocre. I expected so much more from a Stephan Pyles restaurant. The 3 day aged brisket was very dry. My fried chicken was very dry... I hate to say it, but KFC does a better job. The honey biscuit was dense like a rock... should be fluffy. No butter. The deviled eggs had good flavor, but the "yolk" part was overly whipped up, so when you bite into it, it felt more like a foam than a deviled egg yolk. The cocktails were good. I will say the tater tots that came with the fried chicken were excellent. So, if the only part of the entire meal that was excellent were the tater tots, Houston, we've got a problem...
Bday dinner for 15 YO friend, whose more family than friend. Went swimmingly.
We ask fir a round table which worked out great. The margarita table side was very well presented. We enjoyed the restaurant week menu. A little disappointed in the desserts. We had one member of our party not order the restaurant week menu. When it came to dessert he ask for the berry cobbler which we taught was on the menu. The waiter and waitress are both refused to let him order it saying it was only for the set menu. It seemed very unaccommodating .
First time here. Shitake mushroom bisque to begin. Followed with Pan Bronzed Redfish and finished with Berry and lemon fried pies. All delicious. The wife had the smoked hanger steak and it was a star. Great place!
Food was mediocre. Great ambiance and liked the large comfy seating. Drinks were good, staff was nice
Disappointed with the food. Chicken fried chicken was good but came out soggy. The hanger steak was smothered in a sauce that was not palatable. Fish was blackened but still had no flavor. The cobbler was basically fruit w a cookie on top; it tasted good but definitely not a cobbler. The pies were good.
We enjoyed our drinks and the fact that multiple people were helping serve, but the service was a bit slow with large delays in between courses. Loved the ambiance, very Texas!
Stampede 66 is one of our favorite restaurants so we took our grandson who just got his first job out of college for a celebration. We were so disappointed! First, the service was awful. We had to hunt down our server several times. Food was pretty bad although I will admit we had the restaurant week menu. Still, we expected more from this restaurant. We will think twice about going in the future.
Stampede 66 was a disappointment. They were out of their signature dish, beef brisket, on a Wednesday. The butterscotch pudding was once a favorite of mine, but has been changed to more of a mousse.
The service was AMAZING! We never felt rushed (a plus for restaurant week). I even was able to purchase an extra dessert to take home. The peanutbutter panna cotta was to DIE for!
Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
meatloaf was dry overcooked. ribeye was overloaded with too many flavors competing with the beef. thanks for the complimentary fried okra which was good.
Hostess was rude. Chicken was raw inside and not edible. Manager aloof and not helpful. Used to love it here. Will never go back
We went during restaurant week. The food was marvelous! The service was impeccable and the place was quiet.
My wife and I went during restaurant week. The meal was fabulous! The only reason I did not give five stars is because it took forever between my main course and dessert. This was totally the kitchens fault and the only thing that kept it from being a five-star experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We love to come for Sunday Night Supper! Love that the meal is served family style and love the live entertainment! The menu was a little different for Restaurant Week, but we still enjoyed our evening.
We wanted something new, and different. This was a business meeting and you never know what a new place will be, and this was a delightful surprise. A very "Texas Cowboy" themed restaurant, it is great for visitors to Dallas, who want to see some of the west, and "66" delivers. The food was very good and kept your interest during the meal.
For a business dinner, wanting elegant old west, THIS is the place.
Server was wonderful and the food was great as always!
The ribeye was definitely not worth the money we paid. It had too much fat and gristle. We ordered mac n cheese for the side and it was bland and had too many bread crumbs on top. The shiner beer bread was really good. The smell inside the restaurant was great and the decor was fitting. Overall, I’m not sure my wife and I would give this restaurant another shot.
I eat here often, usually for business lunches. The food is great and the menu changes from time to time. The menu is Texas classics and comfort food with a nouveau twist. Our service was a bit inattentive for lunch, but everyone is always friendly. Overall great food and great place, it's a top restaurant in Dallas.
Loved everything about this place! Great food, service and live music (not too loud). Definitely want to go back soon!!
