Situated in the Hard Rock Casino, Stake offers the taste of West Coast and is known for its steaks. The restaurant has a sophisticated décor with wooden floor and furniture, and featuring both table and chair and booth style seating arrangement. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, making it is good place to have business meetings, hang out with friends and eat meals with family.
Stake is ocean wise, serving only sustainable seafood. The menu highlights are salads, appetizers, main courses and sides to share. Some of the customer favorites include smoked crispy pork belly, north coast lingcod, spring salmon and Angus beef tenderloin. People can use the casino's private parking lot which offers the option for bike parking. The Wi-Fi is on the house, and there is also an outdoor seating option, as well.
Food was cold. Limited menu Seafood tasted old. Very noisey Resturant. Was much better before it changed to Stake
The food was good and the service was quick. Loved the chocolate dessert.
The steak was well done instead of medium and when the server told the chef he didn't seem to care (rolling of eyes)
We weren't looking for free as I advised st the end of meal but did leave some steak - which left no doubt
Wanted something local to do for a friends birthday - decided on dinner and gambling - wanted to take a cab - this fit the bill nicely. Was a bit surprised to only see 3 steak options in a restaurant named STAKE, but the short rib special made up for it a bit. Have to say the 2 steaks they did offer were both delicious and well cooked too. Nice touch for my friend with the birthday dessert! Better than the Keg in my books!
food was mediocre at best.
food and drinks were all very slow
staff suggested what did we expect when we came before a show? we made reservations, waited nearly 30 mins for our first drinks. couldn't even get enough drink menus.
It was very cold in the restaurant....the air conditioning was not necessary...my mom and Aunt ate their meal with their jackets on
Heard a rumour that stakes will close and open as another 'Asian' restaurant. Enough already! We stopped frequenting 'Starlight' as they are now basically an 'ethnic' casino only. Please tell me this is just a rumour!
Went on a Wednesday night called the promo guy Johnny left him a message the night before for reservations, he never called back. Went online to make reservations for 6 people. Arrived on time at the restaurant. We were seated promptly and the hostess didn't care that we had a reservation. Ordered a few appies and ask for some bread. Ate the appies placed our meal orders and waited and waited for an hour. Still no bread. So I asked again, 15 minutes later we get cold bread and a bit of butter. Super slow service, food was nothing special. Wouldn't recommend or return.
Our group of 5 was very disappointed by our recent dinner at Stake. There was no one in our group who had an enjoyable meal. The shrimp cocktail was plated with a plain ketchup, we speculated that the prep chef forgot to add the horseradish. The potato that accompanied the steak was under cooked and lacked any flavour. It was extremely disappointing considering the presentation was impressive; however the meals had as much flavour as hospital food. The only highlight to our meal unanimously agreed upon was the cheesecake.
I liked it before it was renovated> I liked the Booths better it seemed to muffle the noise, very noisy would not consider fine dining resturant especially paying those prices.
We had tickets to a show one a weekend and wanted to have a nice dinner before the show so we tried Stake. We would go again because the food was good and great value. The room itself doesn't have the greatest ambiance, but the service was good, the menu diverse enough for anyone's tastes and everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. If we have tickets to a show again at the Hard Rock we would definitely dine at Stake again.
Good pricing for the surf & turf platter for 2. Very good service, at a relax atmosphere.
Waitress was too occupied with her family; therefore, we received slow service. She even commented, "Gotta take care of family".
Our experience was awful.
Our reservation was for 8:30 we arrived on time. We were starving. We were asked to sit at the bar. I asked for a Margarita and they told me they couldn't make one. When we were sat we asked for some bread and our server told us it was frozen and that they had run out. We ordered each of the appetizers on their valentines menu...the soup was ok and the salad was pickled beets. Then we ordered the beef & lobster. A few minutes later our server told us they were out of braised beef and we would have to have the chicken and scallops...We waited for an hour before our main dishes came. We ended up with chicken and lobster even though we wanted the scallops. In the mean time our friend was also dining one table over and had arrived about an hour after us and had now received both fresh bread and also the Beef that we wanted at the same time we received or chicken. Our mashed potatoes were lukewarm and the dish was mediocre. Our server was nice enough but it seemed as though the chef just walked out of the kitchen and they were scrambling. It was not at all the romantic dinner we hoped for and had no discount on our bill.
There was a special Valentines menu and it was fantastic. Every was really on point. The food and the wine!
ordered the tuna tataki, was very good, also the lox which was made in house was very tasty! steak very tasty and cooked perf! will def b back!
Surf and turf is pretty good deal and plenty enough for 2. Food is great and service was pretty good
We were looking for a restaurant that was close to the Hard Rock Casino Theater in Coquitlam, BC. The Stake was adjacent and after reviewing the menu online, we decided to dine there and were not disappointed. Food was delicious and the service supreme! We will definitely eat there again and recommend to our friends!
Thank you Stake for starting our evening out perfectly!!
Every time we've eaten there been great service, prices and great food quality
We were surprised when we walked in the restaurant was empty. There were only three other tables occupied at this 30+ tables restaurant.
The food when we came out was nicely portion and great tasting.
The staff was very friendly and we would go back again.
The dinner for two was plenty and the prime rib was delicious.
Had dinner here before Russel Peter's show. It was a fixed menu but was not good. Was definatly expecting more. Would not go back.
Reservation was booked for 8PM, it was not very busy but it took a long time to get drinks and didn't get much attention from staff through the whole meal. It seemed as though all the other tables with larger parties were getting all the staff's attention. Food was good to average. Specific examples; scallop appetizer was cold, pork belly appetizer was a pork chop (pork belly should be basically a fatty, bacony piece of tender goodness, not a dry, chewy pork chop). Steaks had good flavor but mine was quite tough.
To clarify the yes/no answer "Would you recommend Stake to a friend" I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend Stake but I wouldn't go out of my way to tell anyone to avoid it either. It was ok and the price point didn't hurt too much.
What would make it better:
- More attentive service during the meal. This may be related to why the scallops were cold (waiting for deployment from the kitchen maybe?)
- More extensive list of beer on tap. How about some local options?
- Fix the temperature issues (cold scallops) and address pork belly problem.
We have been to Stake several times over the past year and love the surf and turf special - great taste and good value for the money. The server was very personable and attentive. We had a great time and the wine was good too!
I picked Stake because I've been there before and had good food and had booths that gave some privacy. I decided to book on line and that was very quick and easy to do great. I invited a person that was giving me some business advise. When i arrived everything was fine,my friend showed up and ordered a glass of wine and i ordered a diet coke. The server came back with my drink which was flat and then she came back to say you are out of the wine my friend chose. I asked is this diet coke or a no name brand and she said a no name brand. I thanked her for being honest and asked for a soda crane which she did and gave us good service. Thanks for that and my meeting went well. food was just ok,we both had prime rib which i would not order again.
We visited Stake for the first time with my husband. Havent been to the casino since it changed names. It was a good experience, fabulous foold and great service. Food arrive at a decent time and was well presented. Only thing I didnt like: the restaurant was dead by the time we paid our bill at 9:30 pm. I guess everyone eats and rushes to the casino.
Was at the Hard Rock Casino to go to the theatre to see Toto and Yes, and we didn't want to have to drive between the dinner and the show, decided to eat at Stake. Was very enjoyable, food delicious, serivce acceptable. It was also a bonus that they would take our reservation despite the fact the theatre was sold out. Would definitely go back if I go to another show at the theatre. We thought about Asylum, but decided it maybe a little loud, so decided on the quite and calm of Stake.
We were the only table at 5pm; had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Nice and quiet. Food is good and portion is large for the price.
Salmon was delicious-service was great-comfortable environment.
My party of 4 tried to have dinner here with 2 hours to spare before a concert at the Hard Rock and they would not accomodate us. The hostess said it would be "impossible." Fair enough, we should have made a reservation. So we left and made a reservation on OpenTable for 10pm after the concert ended. FYI they take reservations up until 10:30pm so we figured they would at least be open till 11:30 or 12. When we arrived at 10pm the restaurant was half empty, so we asked if it would be possible to increase our reservation to 6, as we had friends that wanted to join us. Again we were told that was "impossible." We said fine we will take the table for four. When we were seated the waitress told us we absolutely had to order before 10:30pm because they were closing at 11. By that time we had enough. I wasn't going to pay upwards of $100 a couple to be rushed through our dinner and out the door. We left and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that doesn't enjoy being treated terribly.
