Very popular local restaurant with a great wine and beer selection. Dinner menu was quite good: can definitely recommend the blue burger and salmon burger. The setting was pleasant and service good. Great casual place to have a nice couples meal or meet up with friends. Probably need reservations on the weekends though.
Went here for dinner on our way to a concert at Treasure Island. Loved it! The food was great, service was wonderful and the ambiance was lovely. Recommend.
We went there for a Father’s Day dinner.
The food was great. All of the wait staff were excellent.
Will definitely be going back.
We came there for the online advertisement of "live music". We traveled almost 2 hours to find they didn't have live music there that evening as advertised :(
The Staghead not only has great staff and food but the atmosphere is very inviting!
We got our order right in, but no food for 50 minutes. They were not packed either, never asked about refill for my drink and my daughter never got her second drink. No butter for bread and main course was not much for a noodle dish that cost 18 dollars. Would try again to see if we could do better, it's a pleasant place to eat with live music.
Staghead is a wonderful restaurant! Great food, wonderful ambience, great owners and staff. Always a great time at Staghead! Highly recommend!
It is very nice to see this good place seeming to be getting back to prior status: a good place to have a good, but not expensive meal.
The one thing they desperately need: more help! The service was very pleasant and really working hard, but the lack of enough help, made service slow. Not impossible, but slow.
Food here is usually pretty good. Service can be spotty, generally they are understaffed. Our waitress was very nice but had too many tables as she appeared to be the only server working the entire restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Long waits for drink refills, etc....waitress was working hard.
High quality food, creative cuisine. Good selection of draft beers and wines. Cozy atmosphere with a great bar. I always enjoy my meal here.
Katherine, our server, was terrific. Food was outstanding.
Food and music was fantastic. Love eating at local restaurants with some flair!
Also offers options for those not drinkng alcohol...i.e. Italian Sodas
Second time to this restaurant and not as good as it was years ago. Service was spotty. Had to ask for a second beverage after being ignored for quite awhile. Entrees took a long time to arrive and when they did my steak was cold, not just room temperature. The only thing worth a second thought were the deviled eggs.
Service was very slow. Food was just ok for some others not good. Cheese board was tasty but how do you go wrong with cheese.
Great live music. Not too loud and could still hold a conversation. Server was great but SLOW. I don’t think it was her fault because it appeared they were understaffed during an evening rush. Food was pretty good. Braised beef was great and the lamb was ok. Will definitely try the build your own boards next time. The board bloody was pretty nice change of pace as well. All in all a decent experience.
Food options are wide from small bites/cheese and meats to full on meals. All are good and often change. Definitely will meet the demands of foodies and casual diners.
Love that they have music on the weekends. A total fun place to hang.
Good food, very poor service. Were out of several menu items including ginger syrup for our Mocktails. After about ½ hour, we asked our server where our drinks were and she said they must still be working on the ginger syrup. I told her to cancel my drink order and just bring me a diet coke. About 15 minutes later, she brought my friend her drink but had forgotten my diet coke.
My friend ordered the chickpea burger which comes with a greek style salad. Our server came out to inform her that they accidentally put nuts on her salad and wanted to make sure she wasn’t allergic. I was surprised they didn’t just make her a new salad.
I actually lost track of how long it took to get our food but I do have to say it was very good. While we both just ordered burgers (which are not that difficult to screw up) we both agreed that they tasted very good.
We decided to order dessert and coffee and our server seemed very irritated about that. She brought out our coffee and didn’t ask us if we wanted cream or sugar. We had a different server bring us some cream. Our server brought out our bill and about 20 minutes later came out and said she needed to leave for the night and we could just find someone else to pay when we were ready. Our server was sitting at the bar.
Food was good but we thought that given the creativity the preparation could have been a little better.
So happily surprised to find Tony performing!
Nice atmosphere - great food - I meet my sons at this restaurant because it is half way - we always have great food. Brussel Sprout salad is my favorite!
Had to sit right by live music, which although not terrible was too loud. Cheese plate was awesome, entree over cooked. Service just ok.
Been here multiple times. Always love it! Food is great, atmosphere is cool, and the service is good. Always a special trip for us but totally worth it.
Always like going to the StagHead. Love the atmosphere and the many brew choices. Live music was great as well. The table we sat at was fairly close to another so wasn't quite as private as I would have liked but that really wasn't a big deal.
The Staghead NEVER disappoints. We travel to Red Wing once or twice a year and we go to The Staghead multiple times every time we go. I had the bangers and mash (special for St Patty’s ) TWICE. They were amazing! My husband had the steak one night and the pork chop the next. They were both AMAZING. And the cheese plates... don’t even get me started. We are always so bummed having to leaving knowing there is nothing like this in Ankeny, Iowa. The owner/manager is Wonderful and we hope they sticks around for A LONG TIME.
Overall, love Staghead but I wouldn’t recommend booking with open table. Showed up for our reservation and the place was packed. They had the reservation but we were told that they should have shut off reservations. Left came back, but the tables hadn’t turned yet. (Reservations were are 1:15). We had two kids with us and we already had late for lunch; had to go elsewhere to get them fed.
Great menu and beer selection, and live music on a Friday night.
Very attentive and friendly service. Cozy and inviting. Excellent, varied beer/wine list, great food!
We had a lovely meal at Staghead. The deviled eggs were decadent! Drinks were tasty and the service was wonderful
Always solid, great food, and we enjoy the atmosphere. Their side salads rock -- dressing is yum and ingredients are fresh.
We enjoyed the food - the service was good but the music was too loud ..... it was difficult to hold a conversation ...I would take that into consideration before going there again?
The atmosphere is really comfortable and cozy. The food is out of this world - very gourmet! We wish this place was located closer to home, but it is definitely worth the drive!
nice old interior. good service. good music. good value. ate before a concert at the old historic Sheldon theater. enjoyable
We had a nice evening and meal. We were unfortunately sat by the door and very close to the piano player that was playing very fast. She was young and good, but fast and loud. Food was good, service was good. We would go back for sure when we ever return to Red Wing, Mn for a night out.
First of all, the pianist was extremely loud and NOT VERY GOOD. We really regretted that we didn’t leave when we discovered how close our table was to this mediocre musician. Second, being so close to the front door meant we got blasted with frigid air whenever someone arrived or exited the restaurant. A disappointing dining experience.
The food was very good. The service was only fair. They had someone playing guitar who was just to loud. We went with friends and had a hard time carrying on a conversation.
We were visiting Red Wing for Small Business Saturday and wanted lunch. We found Staghead and the menu looked interesting. It was not crowded at all when we arrived and we were seated immediately. After about 5 minutes, someone came to take our drink order. By then we were ready to order everything, which we did. After about 10 minutes, our appetizer arrived, but we still did not have our drinks. I finally got up and found our server and asked for our drinks. The food was fine, nothing special. Service was just ok.
Staghead is our favorite place to eat in the Twin Cities extended metro. The food is delicious and prepared fresh with local ingredients, and the wine and beer are all personally selected. It has a cozy post-war town setting with updated styling and charm. My wife and I have been coming since it first opened and we make it a point to eat here whenever we can!
The menu is amazing. Love the bar. One of our favorite places when we come to red wing
