Stage Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great, and it was almost a perfect meal. We ordered the 5 course dinner.
Only 2 hiccups was that when they seasoned my poached lobster, someone dropped what seemed like a pinch of salt in one spot. The dessert was merely a trio of ice cream. That was a let down...
We tried a variety of selections offered including 5 course dinner. All the food were tasty. The Kona lobster was fresh and tasty. The duck breast, lamp chop and Ahi were excellent. Pleasant surprise because the quality of food has improved tremendously since the last time we were here probably 1 to 2 years ago. Don't know whether they changed the menu or changed chef . I would definitely recommend this restaurant. A little pricey but worth it.
I always enjoy my experience at Stage... came here for the Hawaii Restaurant Week special menu, which was delicious! Escargot with a delicious cauliflower puree and thinly sliced baguette, and the king salmon, so rich and flavorful. The chocolate tart was spot-on, and the amuse-bouche and palate-cleansing sorbet were such nice touches! The waitstaff were attentive and responsive. The only complaint is overall, the prices have risen considerably in the last 2-3 years, making my visits less common. But restaurant week always a great deal. Thanks Stage for a great dinner!
Service was outstanding, the wait staff team was friendly, attentive and personable. They made us feel welcome and important. The atmosphere here is nice and comfy. Seating is spread out that you don’t feel all cramped like some other comparable places. Upon arrival we were greeted right away and shown to our table with a smile.
The Restaurant Week menu is what attracted us here. Unfortunately the food was a mixed bag, with both good and some not so. My wife ordered off of the Restaurant Week special and myself from the regular menu. The hamachi sashimi appetizer from the special fell way short as the coconut milk overwhelmed the dish. Her kurubota pork chop was tasty, but a tad over cooked. My appetizer was the steamed clams, this was a winner. Flavor combo of the clams, pancetta, Swiss chard, onions & tomato in a delicious sauce was great. The seafood pasta was a bit of a let down. Star of the pasta dish was supposed to be the Kauai Shrimp, but this was way overdone and dry. The half lobster tail was so small, about the same size as the shrimp and cooked dry as well. Very little seafood on the plate for $45! The pasta was touted as hand cut, but it was stiff and stuck together. Highlight of the evening was the desserts and the French pressed Geisha Kona Coffee.
Haven't been to Stage in 6 months but the positive changes were impressive. The mostly-new-world-Napa wine list has now expanded to include solid selections from France, Spain and Italy. Som Dustin knows his stuff and pairs wines to suit your taste. In-house made breads were sublime. Had the five-course tasting menu which featured the best of their dishes (a bargain at $80). Will be back soon. Michelin star worthy.
Aloha, every last Tuesday of the month special Ovation wine dinner at Stage is a must if you are a foodie. Chambers & Chambers sommelier Sky Cameron will show off his wine & sake knowledge paired perfectly with Chef Ron de Guzman’s cuisine. This really is an excellent restaurant that should not be forgotten. Every dish was fun, delicious, and well paired. Can’t make that date? No problem, there is typically a daily Chef’s tasting menu paired with fun wines by in house manager/sommelier Dusty G. Great easy parking and you get to window shop for the latest furniture too. We’ll be back.
It was a cute and romantic experience for our 15th anniversary. The host and waiter were very friendly. The live piano music added a nice touch. I love how we were able to get our wine refilled ourselves when we wanted, without having to wait for our waiter.
My husband and I had a long, wonderful, leisurely dinner at Stage in Saturday night. Food was delicious but some of the sauces were a little heavy for the food. We had the special escargot and the sauces overpowered the simplicity. Beet salad was wonderful, seafood pasta was terrific. My husband had the price fix, 5 courses of excellent dishes.
It was very nice to dine, and not be rushed at all. Service was great. We will be back.
I was going on a date with my girlfriend before I went out of town for a week so I decided to take her here. This place had amazing dishes and service. The food was well presented and was well portioned. The servers were always there when needed and were very descriptive in helping you don’t the dish that was perfect for you. I didn’t event start on dessert we had the “truffle treasure hunt”. It was filled with interesting flavors and it was fun the read the scroll and guess which truffle you were tasting. Perfect game to wrap up and amazing meal! The servers were social and keep a positive atmosphere, setting the mood to enjoy a spectacultar night. I would defiantly recommend this place to a friend of someone visiting. Thanks an awesome night of dining out.
we went to the wine dinner of american comfort food paired with wines from the west coast (california, oregon, and washington). the food was beautifully presented, and very tasty, especially the "tuna salad" that was nothing like any tuna salad i ever had, along with a pork loin, beef filet, and ice cream /crepe combination, with maple-fig ice cream. everything but the amuse buche was delicious- that little course was too overthought, but did not detract at all from the rest of the meal. great sevice, great food. we are never disappointed with this restaurant.
The Stage Restaurant provided us and our guests with the outmost exceptional Service! From the minute we arrived our Host greeted us with a smile and made sure we were taken care of while we waited for our table since we checked in a little early for our reservations. Our servers were outstanding! There was not a moment that we waited for our food or our drinks to arrive to our table which was truly appreciated. Our servers were also accommodating when we requested to change certain items from their menu. The food was down right perfect leaving our palates and tummies content! Kudos to the entire Staff of the Stage Restaurant!
Had family in town and wanted to try a new place. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, and several staff served us led by our main waiter, Hayden. They were all very knowledgeable about the dishes served, the ingredients and preparation, and gave recommendations for different menu items to try. Will definitely come back and bring guests to give it a try.
Outstanding ambiance, attentive service and creative well prepared dishes. Made our wedding anaversary truely memorable. The reconditions by the waiter was excellent. Also a superior wine and cocktail menu added to the experience. My wife and I will be returning soon.
Great service and extensive wine by the glass offerings. However, all of the plates that should have been hot came out barely warm. Got so frustrated we sent the main course back for a hot one. 10 minutes later there it was - hot. So if they can serve it hot the second time why not the first? Does the chef not want his food to be hot? Manager was apologetic and comp'ed one of the dishes. If you like your food north of " barely warm" tell your waiter when you order.
This place is my usual go to with my women colleagues and happy they had availability for this special Sunday. We dined here to celebrate Mother's Day and from the start, the staff were friendly and didn't mind that our complete party wasn't there at the start of our reservation time.
Everyone at Stage made for an awesome Mother's Day and will definitely be back.
Stage is one of the best restaurants in Honolulu. Their culinary team has carefully designed a delectable menu full of flavor, heart and soul. The poke is one of the best I've ever had and I could go on for hours about the desserts I was fighting the people at our table to finish the ice cream sampler we had. The wine selection is the best I've seen in Hawaii (it includes a large tasting selection at the adjacent bar, Amuse), the service was superbly on point, thoughtful and caring (Rominick was our server and he was so incredibly attentive to my 1-year old son. I won't forget that- he was also versed on the wine list) and the stylish atmosphere there makes you feel as if a chic NY runway show is about to blast through the kitchen door at any moment. All in all, this is my favorite place in Honolulu to eat and I look forward to my next visit. Stage is TOP NOTCH! Don't miss out! Definitely go there for your special occasion- a little known fact about Stage is that they make home-made celebration cakes for pre-order. They're delicious!
Had a friend in town for business, wasn't sure where to go. She suggested Stage, I had been to their wine bar but had never had the pleasure to dine in. Upon arrival we were greeted several times as we made our way through the lounge to the restaurant. I had requested a nice table, when seated I was very happy with the area in which we were sat. Our waiter Romnick was great attentive but not invasive, Knowledgeable and have great recommendations. Dusty the general manager touched the table several times to make sure the dining experience was going well. He hand picked wines to pair with our entrees that worked seamlessly. Not only explaining the pairing but the story behind the wines as well which made the experience that much better. Food was amazing timing was perfect, flavors were bold! Highlighting the proteins and not masking them. The restaurant sent out apps which worked great as an addiction to what we had ordered. The amuse was a great way to start the night and the intermetso worked great to cleanse our pallets before the entree course. Overall top notch restaurant from A-Z, would say this is a hidden gem, but idk why it's hidden this restaurant has been around for over 10 years now and it's def. here to stay! If you haven't checked it out you have to! And if you have go again they just revamped the complete menu and decor it great! Much Mahalos for a wonderful dining experience #topnotch 🤙🏼
