We were excited to go to Stage Left, heard good things. My husband and his friend ordered the tomahawk steak for two. There was no signature large bone and the steak was not sliced. The waiter should have sliced it if it was for two. It was awkward. The size of the steak was small for the $$ we paid for it. The staff was attentive, the burger good.
Phenomenal staff, outstanding service, and incredible food.
We were celebrating my 54th birthday with dinner and a show. We come here fairly often and are always pleased with excellent food and wine, combined with exceptional service. The restaurant had staffing issues in the kitchen and got behind, but we were not let down. The owner jumped in and made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend both Stage Left and Catherine Lombardi, you will not be disappointed!
Date night. Love the steak and old fashioneds
Love the ambiance and convenience of location. Would definitely recommend the scallop apppetizer. And cucumber martini- perfect for a beautiful spring day!
Very knowledgeable and professional staff; everyone knew small details of the menu.
Haven’t been to Stage Left (Steak) in ages so decided to head over. Had a wonderful meal. Everyone was so nice. Although I have a very minimal of things I drink, the waiter helped me pick out a nice wine. It was delicious. I do wish they had a bigger beer selection as I’m a light beer drinker and kept thinking if i ordered something more casual like the burger or chicken sandwich, I would definitely want a cold beer with It.
Great cocktails, service and food! Could not have been a better dining experience!
We were there for quick dinner before going to a show. We had salads as an appetizer and I would definitely recommend the Green Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette. It was a good portion of fresh, sweet and tender Watercress with a delightful Lemon Vinaigrette. For our main course we ordered the Filet Mignon and the New York Strip. Both were prepared medium-rare and they were tender and tasty. The side of Steak Fries were cooked more than we like, but the Roasted Carrots made up for it, they were sweet and succulent. Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner and the wait staff were courteous and attentive.
Great wine selections and excellent food.
always an amazing evening!! Food is todie for, as is the service!!
The food was really good the service was great but they charged 2.95 for every refill for soda and they were very small glasses. The noise level from the people at the bar was so high I just wanted to leave. I would recommend but I don't I would go back myself.
Food was ok but was expecting more based from the reviews and price.
The service was superb and the food equally as good.
The salt block to finish cooking steak was both novel and flavorful .
Will definitely return
Amazing food and service as always!
The restaurant was crowded, but the service was still very good. Food was great!
This place is excellent. Often, big name steakhouses are an overpriced let down. Stage Left, is not one of those places, the owners clearly take pride in thier work. The meat was perfectly cooked, not drowned in butter and with real flavour. Starters were varied and also excellent. The cheese was more akin to a French board and served at room temperature so as to make the most of the flavours on offer.
Possibly the restaurant we have frequented the most over the past 15 years. From the great burger to a complex wine dinner, always a delight. The wine dinners have provided the opportunities to taste and buy wonderful wines we might have not seen otherwise.
The staff couldn’t be nicer. The food was great! Only disappointment was size of glass they served my beer in was 6oz.
Mediocre at best. My husband HATED his steak. I had the filet mignon and lobster tail. The lobster was waaaaay over cooked and the steak came out well done when I ordered medium. The salt level was ridiculous.
A beautiful venue with very attentive, friendly staff. I had the salad special for the day and one of the best gnocchi’s I have ever had. My husband had a bone marrow appetizer and an incredible squash soup. They also had a “10% per inch of snow” promotion that night. Very inventive.
Stage left has a knack for making restaurant trip an experience. We took advantage of the Snow Special and had fabulous burgers, wine and overall ambience.
Outstanding food and wine list. I was with a group of people and we had the most delicious burger and tastiest steaks. Service was impeccable. I didn't know what I was missing having not dined here before. I will be a regular from now on. Best restaurant in New Brunswick.
Bad steak at very high price. Good wine. Ok service for the prices.
Delicious food, great wine and service!
We have been patronizing Stage Left since it opened decades ago. The food has always been excellent. Over the years, it has developed a great steakhouse menu as well. They feature items that are hard to find such as Iberian ham fed on acorns, boar chops, and lamb chops (more of a mutton chop) in the style of Keen's Steak House in NYC.
Great food, great service, great wine list.
The staff was very attentive. The food was good. The portion size was adequate, but somewhat expensive. I loved the atmosphere though and will definitely go back!
Brought a friend for his birthday.
Had great cocktails and charcuterie to start, and our server was very informative on the specialty cheese selections. The real star, however, are the steaks, and the optional flavored butters or sauces available. My petite filet, medium rare, was perfection. The horseradish butter just put it over the top! The desserts were no disappointment- chocolate lava cake and a creme brulee (with a sweet "happy birthday!" note from the chef, written in chocolate sauce), was an unexpected personal touch that makes this restaurant above the rest. I drove 90 minutes to meet my friend here, and it was more than worth it! Book a dinner here asap.
Salmon was very good, steak was cooked as ordered. Wait staff was attentive - a little noisy for an upscale restuarant
Everything Was excellent! Steak melted in your mouth. Expensive wine list but it was worth it
WE HAD a wonderful dinner ... service was GREAT... we will be back ,,,,
Valentines dinner. Great service and nice touch speaking in general personal terms with the owners Mark and Francis.
Great food, seriously — cannot beat the food here. Great service and nice overall ambience. Pricey though.
My husband and I have not gone out in quite some time since we have a little one at home and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Former New Brunswick residents and Steakhouse 85 enthusiasts, we couldn't get a reservation at 85. We decided to take a chance at Stage Left Steak and I'm super happy we did. Choices were great, even better was that my steak was cooked to absolute perfection and so flavorful. It didnt even need the chipotle lime butter to accompany; however, that was super tasty and happy I tried it. In addition, the sides were awesome! Steak fries were super crisp so if you don't enjoy something more well done I suggest staying away. The parmesan gratin potato side comes in perfectly sliced on the mandolin piles and tasted just as good today when I finished the leftover for lunch. Also tried grilled asparagus and they were yum, yum, yum in my tum. Paired with a nice pinot noir and the other half had a Jameson on the rocks. I was stuffed but when you don't get to go out often any more got the toffee pudding dessert. Super sweet, and amazingly delightful the caramelized nuts and sauce served in for reminiscent of the bread puddings I had down in New Orleans. The only downside was I would have liked it a little darker, more candlelight-esque in there. More like the ambiance in Catherine lombardi's although I'm super happy we weren't seated right by the door as I hate that! Happy that we ended up here in the end. It was super delicious!
I don’t really understand this place. I feel like location is the biggest component it has going for it bc it’s overpriced and disjointed. Paper menus? Burger was flavorless and cooked improperly. Same for the steak. Potatoes too. What’s going on here? I shouldn’t have to season food when I’m paying more than a weeks worth of groceries for it. Server was all over the place and the martinis were on the small side. The server also removed drinks too soon. Really? It was just all a solid “meh” and didn’t meet my standards at all.
The food was excellent, the wine was delicious and the staff was very attentive. I will go back!
We had a great time at Stage Left. All of us had the burgers and they were delicious! So was the bottle of Pinot Noir that we ordered with the burgers! The restaurant is beautiful, the service was terrific, and the food was great - we will definitely be back!
Food and service was phenomenal!
The service and ambiance were very nice...however, $115 for a porterhouse that was not seasoned at ALL was disappointing to say the least !.....the Texas toast with bone marrow was a a disappointment as well...it might as well been buttered toast ...because that's what it tastes like....the bone marrow was almost negligible....I never mind paying $240 for a meal if the food is delicious...stage left food was not in keeping with the price we paid !!
