So I've been going to Stacks since my wife and went there on our first date 13 years ago. The atmosphere is bar none the best I've been in around Spokane. An old converted steam plant, what is cooler than that. But I have to say the food has taken a downturn. The menu hasn't changed drastically in a year and I usually get the seasonal fish but was surprised it was the same from last year...
Excellect meal/service and price. We will be back for more.
We go out with friends every few months or so and decided on the Steam Plant as none of us had been there in a few years. Without exception we all agreed that his was one of the best in Spokane. We all loved it and the service was wonderful.
Unique setting and we've never been disappointed. The service was never rushed. My sirloin was cooked to perfection and the crimini mushroom jus was delicious.
The food was excellent and our waitress was very personable.
My husband buffalo rib steak was delicious. The bbq chicken I had was ok but not worth the $20+ I paid for it.
Husbands New York steak was perfect! Great atmosphere. Excellent service!
Food was pretty good...I liked my fish better than my husband liked his chicken. The $10 lemon drop price was too high for a cocktail.....drinks were high, so that is my main complaint. Fantastically interesting venue however.....with the historical site turned restaurant.
Service was great, food very good (beer cheese soup exceptional!) and prices reasonable. Validating parking much appreciated. All in all a very nice New Years eve experience and we will be back.
Awesome food. Service was great. Staff very knowledgable.
Great food, variedand intersting menu and good service!
I love the Steamplant, it is a glimpse into history coupled with wonderful food and a delicious brewery!
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with our family. The steam plant is laid out so you feel like you have some privacy.
I met my wife at the Steam Plant so we like to return there to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was great. My only feedback would be that the dessert menu was limited. We ended up ordering this enourmous dessert which no human couple could consume. It would be great to have a small, chocolate dessert, something like a molten chocolate cake with raspberry souces about the size of an expressor cup.
Our waiter asked us when we first walked in if it was a special occasion and we said it was our 36th Anniversary. After our meal he brought us a great ice cream & brownie desert. Made us feel special. The downside is not enough parking spaces close by.
Good beer selection. Had the beer-cheese soup which has an additional texture component that I have never seen used before in this manner. Go ahead, be brave and try it. It's not exotic, it's fun.
When we sat at our table, it wobbled, but the waitress quickly fixed the issue. Our waitress was attentive to our every need and appeared frequently to gauge our progress and possible next request. It was a very smooth and relaxing meal. Good food well prepared, and we were well taken care of. When we arrived, the reservation was easily found and although early, we were soon seated. It was a very nice experience, executed well by the staff.
The place is neat, cool old steam plant. I loved that part. The food however was poor. The portions are large but poorly made. The idea of any kind of thoughtful preparation in the dishes is not there, its quick and easy and it shows thru in the taste. The beer was good tho, so that was probably my favorite part of the meal. The ambiance is neat, and the waiteress and manager were both very prompt and nice and courteous and listened and didn't judge our dislike of the meal. I liked that part. They did right by adjusting the bill too. But I would rather pay the bill in full and get a great tasting dinner. I'd say they need a lot of work in the kitchen on their menu.
Our server wasn't the best. Was short and too the point. It was our first time there, would have liked a little tour or given some history of the area. Appetizer was not good, and his beer tasted watery. Our entrees were delicious though and it was a beautiful place.I would give it another try.
Enjoyed stacks. Waitress was good. I enjoyed my salad and pork chops. Unfortunately husband didn't like his huckleberry chicken and beer soup. We both loved the chocolate sugar bacon cake! Beer was good.
Food was very good. Service was slow and server seemed disinterested and lacked personality
Ambiance was great. Cocktail server in the lounge area was great, our server, not so much. She made us feel like an inconvenience. We were there for my husbands birthday, there were 14 of us. We all work in the service industry. Maybe she was having a bad day? I don't know. Don't know if we will be back, if we do, we week request our cocktail server.
Great service and good price on feature four course
Hadn't been here in over a year and we were very happy to see it bustling, even with the road construction issues. Great menu choices and yummy beer choices! What more can you ask for.
Food was good . Some seating areas can be really loud. Waiting for a booth will be worth it!
Our food was amazing! We went to the restaurant a few weeks ago and had the best waitress. I think her name was Alex- she was awesome. She was nice, personable and efficient as a waitress. My boyfriend wanted to return for his birthday and I wasn't as pleased with the service. The food was still amazing but they stuck 5 people in a four man booth when a bigger booth was available. We were stuck in the back corner this time and our waiter didn't really pay attention to us. I even had reservations.
They worked with our challenging diets. If you can't eat onion or garlic then it really limits your choices but the rest of us enjoyed the menu and could work around the menu.
I chose this location because they cook with Olive Oil.
And if you are going for a Birthday they really know how to treat you... And they don't sing to you in front of the rest of the guests!!!
Visit every time I'm in town - great food and service.
Most impressed with service. When we told the waitress that we were going to an 8:00 concert, she had our food to us in record time.
We were truly disappointed in the food. The hummus plate was flavorless hummus with cold pita wedges. There were no good vegan options. My friend ordered prawns, and she couldn't finish them because they were so oversweet. My margarita was bland and weak. Our server was a delight - I wish the kitchen had been as good!
Quality and selection of menu items is not worth what you pay. Steak was under done and the side vegetables were just a bunch of gourd cuts. I would have expected more variety. I'm not sure of the grade of beef used but it was rather tough and chewy for the price. I expected more of this restaurant.
Gonzaga Fall Family Weekend occasion to visit with and celebrate our daughter. Our seating was in the center of the restaurant not in a quiet more secluded booth even though we had advance reservations. It was noisy and distracting to talk. We felt like an afterthought on service. Dinner was delicious and the building is unique and historic so two plus items for the restaurant.
Stacks is near my son's university and we finally dined here during Fall Family Weekend of his senior year. We are so glad we did! The food and service were excellent. The historical significance, décor and ambiance make it a Spokane gem. There were four of us dining but it would also be great for a group. We are considering Stacks for graduation dinner in the spring but regardless will definitely be back.
Dinner was very good, salmon was very fresh and cooked perfectly. Husband is a vegetarian and had several options to choose from and enjoyed his food. Server was attentive but not overly so. A very nice dinner, would be nice to have more desert options.
Mediocre food at best. An odd menu. Blood orange steak was tasty but very tough. Menu was creative, but food quality didn't back it up. I would not go here again. The location is very cool. You can go inside one of the stacks which is worth a visit just for that, but go have a drink downstairs at the bar. I wouldn't bother with a meal.
The Steam Room was recommended to me by my cousin who travels often by train from Long Beach, CA sometimes to Spokane. Even though I was told the food was very good and I would find the drink selection good, I expected it would be a standard pub. I took my wife and two college-age granddaughters and we had a wonderful evening. The food was very good and the waiter friendly and helpful. I would recommend the Steam Room.
Always love the atmosphere and the food here. As usual, I was not disappointed this time either.
Awesome place. A must restaurant to eat at if you are in the Spokane area!!
We ordered the soup and salad. The beer cheese soup had no taste! It was all filler and no beer or cheese! We used to come here frequently when in Spokane, but the absence of quality on this last visit will make us look for other options next time.
On the upside, the service was great!
The ambiance alone makes it worthwhile to return
